"I'm no battlemage, love, I'm a Shadow-caster, and there's precious little of that. I'm a Portal Master, but I've not the tools for that skill, and chances are it would send off hundreds of miles off course in a random direction. and I'm a Shaman, which is little more than a begger for help. maybe the Winds themselves would side with us, but there will be a cost to pay now or later."
with that he closed his eyes and began to pray. it seemed he was muttering to himself, though in actuality he was speaking into another dimension, the world on the other side.
snapping out of his trance after a minute, he sighed heavily, looking around. at first, nothing new happened.
and then, clouds gathered overhead, thunder began to rumble, and the winds changed in the favour of the dragons under fire. Val grinned broadly.
"perfect. it'll storm soon, maybe an hour or two if we keep flying at this speed. it's coming in from the direction we're headed. there will be rain, and shade."

Scarlet nodded appreciatively at Val, and then changed the tune on the dragon flute to encourage the dragons to fly low to the ground. The carriage lurched as the dragons shifted in the air.
"I'd give my incisors for Devonte, right now--he's actually a fair battle mage, though he'd never tell you so," she shouted over the roar of battle and the rumble of thunder.

Alfons flung open the window for Dmitri. "This is no time for your questions! Just shoot!" Dmitri leaned out and aimed his Barrett up. "Hind directly above us!" He began firing several rounds at the copter, with about four hitting. "Дерьмо! It's not vorking!" "Switch weapons with me! This PTRS is enhanced!" Taking the weapon and readjusting his aim, and fired. The larger round went right into the fuel tank, not crippling the helicopter, but causing it to leak a considerable amount of gas. "He von't bug us for much longer!"
Alfons took the .50 cal and took aim at one of the planes' cockpits. "Wait for it... now!" Firing well ahead of the plane, he managed to hit the pilot's neck. "That's a one-in-a-million shot," Alfons thought.
Ciro was growing impatient, holding an RPD, waiting for the coming storm to block the sun. "Hurry up storm, I need to shoot something!"

Black clouds boiled up and the dawn light dimmed to barest twilight. Scarlet sighed with a small measure of relief. The dragons were sinking fast--and as soon as they were near enough to the ground that the humans would survive (with minimal broken bones) she would cut the carriage loose, and let Doris and Boris fend for themselves. It wasn't ideal, but it was the most practical thing considering the circumstances.
"Ciro!" she called to her body guard. "See what you can do about the d**k-less leccapiedi on our backs--use the emergency top hatch!"

meanwhile, Valthier was digging around in his pockets and pouches, trying to find suitable offerings to delay and shrink the cost he'd have to pay later. he knew that what boon they were granted was no simple thing. nature flat out broke it's own rules, and his negotiations were desperate.
he filled a wooden cup with gold coins, and topped it with a cone of floral-scented insense. he toosed the whole thing into the mountains.
then he pulled mouse close and held her protectively, petting her. the shadows around them seemed to close in and become darker, veiling them.

"FINALLY!" Ciro burst through the top hatch and unleashed a flurry of rounds towards the Hind's cockpit. A few went through, killing one of the two pilots. A shield spell went up a second later as the helicopter backed away. Suddenly the tail rotor caught fire, causing the Hind to spin violently. "Do svidaniya, you svoloch!" Dmitri had shot the tail rotor. The pirates were too focused on Ciro to protect their asses. Ciro switched his focus to one of the many planes strafing the coach. "EAT LEAD AND DIE! BUAHAHA!" He was having a little too much fun. Alfons managed to fire a shot into a plane's wing, to no effect. "Verdammt! I need something with a higher rate of fire!" He threw the M82 back inside and grabbed Val's AK. "This should work." He leaned back out the window and resumed firing.

the Elf was delighting in the energy around him. his environment was so violent, so passionate... Ciro's drive for bloodshed was getting to him especially. it was all he could do to focus his concentration on the Shadow, which was a dangerous thing to do in itself. but it was better than losing his head and doing some stupid and unpredictable in a blind frenzy.
his Shadows became wild, slithering and licking like flames around him. mouse began cowering, clinging to him even she feared him. she couldn't even flinch at his nails digging into her shoulder.
"how are we doing?" he growled out, mentally grabbing onto his coherent words to ground his sanity.

The two planes harrying the dragons broke away and the military chopper backed off. Scarlet could feel the darkness gathering around Twilight, and something primal responded deep in her silent heart.
"That should at least buy us a little time, but they're going to force us to ground one way or another. And Val's storm won't last all day--not without major compensation," she informed her guests. "So I'm afraid we are going to have a bit of a rough landing--and then my next move will be to find out exactly who dared assault us, and feed them their spleens."

Something bumped and scraped the bottom of the carriage.
"We've hit the tree line! Brace yourselves!" Scarlet called to the other passengers.
More bumps and scrapes followed, and the carriage rocked, shook, and vibrated. Scarlet opened the box that protected emergency release leaver. She purposefully wrapped her fingers around it.
"Prepare for release in three...two...one..."

"Addio, pirati fecce!" Ciro yelled out as remaining planes backed off and the chopper exploded. When he came back in and saw Val covered in darkness, he felt the hairs on the back of his neck rise. "Something's strange about this..."
Alfons leaned back in at the same time as Dmitri. "That was more than enough excitement for one night." "Did you see me take out zat Hind?" "Nope, sorry."
Not a second later the carriage hit the first few trees. As soon as Scarlet said prepare for release, Alfons shouted, "BRACE FOR IMPACT!"

(( I take it you guys want me to describe the crash-landing? xd well, have you come up with an iea for this nameless faceless enemy I conjured up? or should we real fast brainstorm?
and finally, I was doing som ethinking, and Twi's sacrifice is going to be a temporary ban on drinking the vitae of living things, coupled with a payment of blood. and, interestingly enough, since he is a Vampire, it is going to need to be consecrated beore he can offer it. which means he probably needs to meet up with that Monk soon, unless Alfons or Dmitri are qualified to bless substances. xd ))
