Subway is a no-go, I think. Seeing as they're wanted criminals it'd be best if they avoided very crowded places.
The car option... I'm guessing that'd be taking a cab, right? It'd probably be alright seeing as they'll just be dealing with one person, but it would most likely end up in a hostage scenario if they're recognized. If the cab driver doesn't recognize them, then good. But... the cab driver could always lie about not knowing about them and call the authorities right after they've unloaded themselves. And that would make for a lot of trouble later on.
If they walked then they would be able to navigate around crowds as needed and keep themselves hidden. It would definitely take a whole lot longer to reach their destination, yeah, but it's the safest way to go. I'd personally go for this one.

Walking may take longer, but they might be able to hide better....
The car could work, but I have a feeling that they would have to go the cab route which has the problems Nii described or they would have to steal one... which could also cause problems....
I wonder if they could sneak in and buy one????
