PernRider480 I wish I could remember what the name of the other Dirk Gently book is, though. A Mote in God's Eye. Now I can't remember, though (it's 2 in the morning) if I've read it or not. xP I'll have to check in the used bookstore downtown tomorrow, to see if she has it ... What??? Do you not live in The States? Am I missing a book? My copy is just called Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. I am sure its the same book, but I have a small lingering hope there is an Adams' book I can still read for the first time. What a wonderful dream, please let it be true.

Yep, I'm in the States (NYS, more's the pity! xP), and I'm fairly sure that's one of his. But yeah, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency ... I'd forgotten about that one! I stole commandeered my dad's copy of Tea Time a long time ago, along with The More Than Complete Hitchhiker's Trilogy, I think it was called ... had all four books in the trilogy, plus Young Zaphod Plays It Safe, although I've heard the trilogy is supposed to have five books? I need to stop not getting sleep, so I can't remember the fifth book. xP And I narrowly remembered to post a number, either ... xP

Mixing up my authors, sorry. xP But there IS more to Dirk Gently ... check this out.The Mote in God's Eye was Larry Niven. I think Dad was reading both at the same time, or had them together at one time, so I mixed myself up and ... I dunno. xP Late, tired, hungry, and haven't been all there all week ... recovering from a concussion. xP Long story ...

I'll be off to a couple of bookshops tomorrow so I can scope out prices...I'll borrow them from my library first though, that way I can give them a quick read to see what they're like.

It was Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Life The Universe and Everything, So Long and Thanks For All the Fish, and Salmon of Doubt. Did I get them right? I remember Douglas Adams kept calling it a trilogy. He used to refer to them as "the ever increasingly misnamed trilogy" which I found as hilarious as his books. It might be time for a reread. The last book had a whole change of mood. It was more sad than funny. I may never read that one again. I posted my numbers first so I would not forget

Thanks for the Douglas Adams site. I had no idea there was more to Dirk Gently, I will have to try and track down that Omnibus. I can't believe he will be gone 10 years.
