I've always wanted to become Gothic. I just never have the courage to. I like wearing bright pastels too....because alas I am gay and bright colors appeal to me. But I am so much darker...(My avii is a girl but I am a guy)

I do have an awesome trench coat though and some kick a** pants! I have always wanted to become gothic/punk/whatever but I can't really afford a whole new Hot Topic wardrobe because I personally am poor and my Grandma hates that store. My mom dosn't like it much either. confused

Evil_Cotton_Candy I do have an awesome trench coat though and some kick a** pants! I have always wanted to become gothic/punk/whatever but I can't really afford a whole new Hot Topic wardrobe because I personally am poor and my Grandma hates that store. My mom dosn't like it much either. confused ... Well for one it is beleived by some that goth is not a way of dressing. It is simply those that follow the music. Goth is not about hot topic and black lipstick. It is an "attitude" or to me and many others it is about MUSIC. Dispite the sterotype I have seen people who wear a bright pink shirt and a hello kitty watch and still clain to be goth because it is about the music. Not the way you dress. Now.. there is a way that many people dress to tell others that they are "goth" but this is also unfair to people that dress that way just because they like it but they dont want to claim to be anything. I do not claim to be anything but I do dress that way and I listen to the music. But that is only because I started dressing that way when I was 11 or 12 and people started to call me a "goth." Having no bloody clue what that was I happened to fall across "goth rock" ..and I liked it. I am not one that beleives someone can be taught to be "goth" or whatever.. but if you are honestly interested in finding out about the music there is a thread called goth 101 with a nice explanation. I recomend you give a listen to bauhaus first as they are the ones that started it all. (Well the music.. they had no intention of starting a sub-culture.)
