Earendil chuckled. "Well, if Arwen doesn't have her scissors with her, you're just going to have to get used to long hair, then. Give it a bit longer and it will be long enough to tie back - bangs and all."
He reached out and tried to ruffle her hair, but it didn't work very well, since her hair was wet and all.

Lin stuck out her tongue, "Won't work this time."
She grinned at him, and thought she was going to have to deal somehow until then. Ah well she thought, but she did think long hair was a pain to be honest.

Earendil chuckled and poked Lin's tongue. "Careful, that can be taken as a grave insult in some cultures. Never know what might happen."
He tried to stifle a yawn. "Mm. Better get back and get dried off so we can sleep ... tomorrow I have to stock up on supplies and head out again. You're welcome to join me again, I don't know who all else is coming."

Lin's nose twitched, it felt weird having Earendil poke her tongue of all things.
"I'll come with you," Lin replied.
Besides she didn't want to be left with nothing to do, and exploring was something she wanted to do.

"Sure," Earendil grinned. "Excellent. Then let's get to sleep now. Come on, let's get back to shore."
And he started back towards the beach, going slowly now that he was fighting the resistance of the water.

Lin hurried along though as much as she could. She was also wearing all her clothes unlike Earendil who was shirtless so she had a few more things that were resisting her as she walked.
Once out of the water though she squeezed it out from her shirt before going back to camp where she kept her bag and other dry clothes.

When Earendil got back to the shelter area, he grabbed his bag and hefted it over his shoulder. "I'm going to change in the trees," he told Lin, "and then I'm going to sleep, probably out under the stars."
He looked up at the night sky and smiled warmly. "I've never slept so well until I came here."

"Really?"
Lin couldn't imagine Earendil not sleeping well, but she did admit here was soothing more so than anywhere they had been to yet. Here it seemed perfect probably impossibly so in some ways but it was perfect.

Earendil smiled warmly at Lin, his dark eyes shining in the starlight. "It's just so peaceful here," he murmured. "The stars above ... the waves on the shore ... it's so calm, so soothing ... nothing like the still silence of the palace."
He could imagine no place better than this ... though they were still early in their journey, and who knew what other places they would see? Still, this place would be etched into his mind for ever.

He looked like he found his ideal place Lin mused, of course she had grown up an inn there was no such thing as full silence and at the grounds there were the water ways.
"The ocean sounds nice, I.... prefer the sound of a river," Lin admitted.
Or waterfall was nice too, she didn't know why that was, but it was just her.

"Also beautiful," Earendil agreed, "but I like the way the water comes up on the shore and recedes again ... calm and repetitive. Rivers and waterfalls ... they're very constant, but they can be quite loud."
Sometimes quite the opposite of peaceful, though he didn't add that last bit.

Lin wasn't so sure, sometimes she thought this could be loud too, but then she had near all sorts of rivers and waterfalls. Waterfalls were probably always loud but rivers...
"It depends on the river," she replied softly.

Earendil shrugged. "I only know one river - the Zapanizan, on which Namonuito was built. It's a pretty fast flowing river there, so while it's not exactly loud, I wouldn't quite call it peaceful either."
He looked at Lin thoughtfully. "Though you would know more rivers than I would."

"The grounds back home does not have a river, but they have a lot of waterways and small falls for the mers. It's how they get around," Lin explained, "So you can always hear running water but it's soft."
Though she supposed that didn't count since they weren't natural.
"Maybe sleeping near a river isn't that good unless it's a slow one, but.. .maybe a stream sounds a bit... more peaceful."
Streams were smaller and had only a bit of water going through.
"Though I guess I would have to ask, would you want to live near water one day?"

Earendil wiped away some water that was trickling down his face as he thought about his answer to that question. Would he really? The thought was nice, but it would mean moving away from his family ... and as old as he was, he wasn't sure he was ready to do that ... at least, not yet. Not permanently yet, anyways.
"Perhaps," he said finally. "Though it does depend where. I mean ... on the one hand I would love to live in a place like this, but on the other hand, somewhere closer to my family would be preferable ... or somewhere I could do something productive, even. True, here there's no lack of food, and there's not much need for shelter, since the weather is so beautiful ... but I would feel very lazy just doing my own thing every day."
Perhaps he had more than answered her question. He hadn't meant to, it was just his thought process.
