Bio: Nicholai is the twin brother of Andrei. During medival times, the twins were sent away to safety with several other Carpathian children and four women. The women were kind and protected the young Carpathians the best way they could, finding them the best soil and often feeding them with their own blood. As is typical with Carpathians, some of the children couldn't eat what was provided for them. Several were lost, binding the small tribe closer together.
As Nicholai and the others grew older, they longed for more knowledge of their people. A vampire took this to his advantage and sent a message to the young ones, telling them that it was safe to come back to their homeland. The women recognized that something was off with the message, knowing that word would have been sent via a private link instead of on paper.
Andrei and Nicholai rallied the other kids, who were mostly yearlings at this point, and started out on the journey home. The women pleaded for them to stop, but they were too young and too far removed from the traditions to know a vampire's ways. The four Carpathian women went with the children to try and protect them further, but the vampire was strong. He quickly gave a compuslion to the youngest, paralyzing them. The older ones tried to fight, but having no formal training and still able to have emotions put them at a disadvantage. The women stepped in, helping the children to break the compulsions and giving them time to run. They valiantly fought the vampire, injuring him enough to send him on retreat but at great cost to themselves.
Two of the women laid with their throats slit and their bodies badly used and beaten. The twins sheilded the younger ones from the scene, bidding them to stay put while they checked for the other two women. The scene was terrible, the earth was scared with the ugliness of battle. When Andrei and Nicholai found the remaining women, they were barely breathing. Andrei ripped his wrist open and spoke the formal words, just like they had done for him many times when he was younger. They refused the nourishment, already having one foot in the spirit world as it was. They told the boys to travel back to the homeland, using all their natural gifts to stay hidden. Their last breaths were ones of encouragement and love, hollowed into the twins' minds forever.
Nicolai grew up quickly after that, having to take care of the others until they made it back home. He began training to be a Hunter when they arrived back with the other Carpathians, honeing his skills to better protect those he needed to. Very active in planning for battles and strategy, Nicholai spent time preparing meticulously for each battle, sharing his mind and life only with his brother. He has long since lost his color and emotion, clinging to his brother and his honor to keep him from turning into the very thing he fights.
Nicholai met is lifemate, waited for her to become an adult as patiently as possible, and now has four beautiful children with her. How could this have happened to him? He's not sure, but he's wishing that his brother were here to see this, hoping desperately that Andrei will have the chance to have a life like he now has.
