{{Lorika, you're depressing me...making me want to never hug the Overseer again. I'm sorry, darling! I love you! You can have him!
Nighty night! Sleep well! Dream sweet!}}

(( I thrive on attention. Agh, but if you were writing, at least that means you have not been actively running around? I hope I did live up some to your expectations, and I hope you feel better tomorrow. )) Considering things, he tilted his head to one side, for the moment wishing he had that singular clam from the ocean returned to him. Somehow answers seemed to come to him quicker when he had it. Now he had all of these strangers to go by with all their words and conflict of personal feelings. The clam had been comfortably silent and boring. Then he nodded his head graciously, knowing that perhaps this wasn't one question he had to fight over, "I will trust in your judgment, Rika, for you would know best of these matters. It has been, verily, mostly misunderstandings and ... in other terms, attempts at tough love." He continued his way down to the first floor, with Evelyn in tow, and now he could smell some of the food floating in through what must have been a kitchen of sorts. He had a few ulterior motives after all, because he had not forgotten how hungry he was.

Evelyn
Evelyn looked up at the Overseer, frowning. "You're not really going to get bodyguards, are you, Overseer? I couldn't stand knowing that you're not safe, but even more so I couldn't stand that paranoia. You're the Overseer! And the Sentinel is still gone. No one poses a threat to you here..."

The Overseer looked down at Evelyn, frowning back at her. He was still making his way through the hallway to find food, although he did not yet know his way around the temple, being thwarted at a few turns. "I assure you that I will put a stop to it, if it becomes an issue. For many it would amount to reaching some peace of mind knowing that someone remained vigilant, same as ... err, you are doing now."
Eventually he sighed and stated, "I smell food but I cannot find it."

Evelyn
Evelyn looked quizzically up at the Overseer. "Overseer...it's this way."
Evelyn led the Overseer to the kitchen without any problems. She had wandered these halls for too long of a time to not know how to navigate them.
She looked up at him again, her expression thoughtful. "If it's someone watching you like I am now that you need, then let me do it. They'll pass me off as a raving fangirl. And I'm capable...somewhat. I'd take a thousand bullets for you, Overseer."

Evelyn's timing was excellent, because the kitchen seemed to be empty except for those that were now just entering - the Overseer and Evie for now. That also meant that the feast Angelique had worked hard to begin with the help of the other acolytes lay mostly unguarded, and kept warm, waiting. He was more than curious about what was under each towel, pot lid and cover. As he made his way carefully through the kitchen, he searched for something that was appetizing. Chances were, something here was.
What Evelyn professed though, made him pause in his scavenging, and he glanced at her, "You are more than capable, I am sure. And I do not know what you truly expect of me now ..." His own words made him self-conscience, and he replaced the pot lid he was holding. He straightened and stepped away from the spread of food, choosing limitation and patience over excess.
"I believe you. Can you show me around the rest of the temple?"

"But of course, Overseer!" she said cheerfully, smiling ear-to-ear."But...do you not remember it?"

He shook his head slightly, his gaze straying back to the food until he caught himself, "Ever since this morning, I do not remember anything. Only it seems that everyone remembers me, and it is a lot to take in at once. You have been so kind to me, and I am afraid I do not even know your name."

Evelyn
Evelyn had to hold back her gasp. Her Lord didn't remember her...she shook it off, holding herself together. "I'm terribly sorry, Overseer. I did not know you lost your memory." She bowed respectfully to him before continuing. "My name is Evelyn, Benevolent One. You may call me Eve, Evie or even 'Hey, blonde chick', whatever you see fit. I am so sorry about your memory."
Evelyn noticed his gaze on the food and bit her lower lip to keep from laughing. "Well, go ahead and eat, Overseer! I hope you haven't forgotten how to do [that," she teased.

Another one disappointed, he could see it there in Evelyn, even though it may have been his imagination. But to imagine, swearing body and soul to another, only to have him admit that he does not know who you are. The Overseer sighed inwardly. The day was not over yet.
"I would favor calling you by your real name. I may have lost much, but that does not mean my memory is otherwise faulty." And he glanced over at the food again when she insisted that he eat, the thought of something edible over there drawing him like a magnet. Although he was nearly drooling, he balked and would not move for his own reasons. "I can wait. They have a feast planned, and I would not be as so rude."
Then he had another thought, changing the subject, "Evelyn, have they kept anything of mine here in the temple?"

Evelyn had to keep from laughing. "Well, of course, Overseer. All back in your room, I believe. Unless Lorika did some rearranging I don't know about."

(( I second that. )) "Now I have a room I never heard of before." It was strange that he had never seen it before, whatever curious things could be there. Yet this gave him an idea that lead to his quiet and reserved request, settling his hand on Eveyln's shoulder lightly. "There is something ..." He paused, searching around the kitchen and his intent gray eyes returned to her face, "It is something small. Like a green pebble, but I faintly remember this thing - an artifact of some kind. Could you do me the favor of finding it? I will go find the Priestess. I think she could help me with my memory if she could identify this thing." It was a lie. There was no pebble, nor rock that he really knew of. But still he kept his queasy smile, hoping that Evie would go to search and leave him on his own. He had every intention to slip off, because truthfully the thought of being watched for every hour of the day scared him. Acting irrationally, it seemed like the only plausible course.

Evelyn smiled sadly up at him. "Monsieur, I shall try to find it...but would you not prefer to sleep until the feast?"
{Mwahaha...even in my tired state I'm trying to keep him in sight.}}

(( -shakefist- I want to go to bed! Let me sleep! )) He lifted his touch from her shoulder and glanced over his. Checking for anyone else? The Overseer shook his head demurely, and took a step away. "I will have time to sleep once what is lost is restored. Please, find that pebble, and I will see to finding the Priestess." Either way, he was going to exit the kitchen and quickly, and if Evelyn wasn't hot on his heels, he would make his break for the doors of the temple. And of course, for the island beyond. He hadn't felt at rest since he initially stepped inside the sanctified building.

Evelyn
Evelyn watched him run off, wishing she could follow, but her ankle would not allow it. "Monsieur! Monsieur!" She hobbled out the door, but he was already gone."Oh, dear...If he gets hurt, Lorika will kill me..." Limping, she tried to keep him in sight, but still tried to stay far enough away that he wouldn't see or hear her. Lorika was going to kill her dead.
{{There! We can go now...right?}}
