Solaris

Sorry...
...I'll be taking my leave now.

{Traverse Town : First District}

Sol sat huddled by top door of the Accessory shop, waiting for whatever was making those terrible noises to stop. Holding his hands over his ears, he cringed every time he heard the noises. Then, finally, mercifully, it was over. Still, he continued to sit there, waiting, just to be sure. When he finally felt it was okay to leave, he stood up slowly, before he headed down the stairs.

Stopping by the corner of the Accessory shop, he watched everything that happened after the defeat of the Heartless. He was really tempted to simply leave, but then he saw Enyb. It was really hard to miss it, actually. Bright green as it was. And there was the furry thing that he had met earlier, who had told him that Enyb was called a chocobo. If he had told him his name, he had already forgotten it.

After debating on what to do for a minute or two, Sol gripped his staff tightly in his right hand, walked back up the stairs, picking up the candelabra from where he left it, then he walked back down the steps and over to Enyb. It was one of the scariest things he had ever done in his life. All of those people were near Enyb. At this point, he was very tightly gripping both his staff and the candelabra, drawing strength from his Master's staff and from Enyb's gift.

Looking down at his feet, Sol stood just off to Enyb's right, looking up at Enyb before putting his head back down. "H...Hi En..Enyb." Sol said quietly, hoping that Enyb remembered him.

{[Elde]}

"Why does fortune seem to strike the most kindhearted people? Is everything just pre-ordained?"

.:[Traverse Town: First District]:.

Elde listened to what Leon had to say and then watched as the solemn man walked off.

That guy needs to get himself a nice girlfriend

He then turned away from where the man had walked off and placed his hand on his chin in thought. “So the world gets attacked by an unknown enemy and the local forces say we just sit here… hmm” Elde didn’t like the idea of that, and even though he didn’t usually take sides he really didn’t want to do nothing.

Removing the gold two sided coin from his pocket Elde ran it through his gloved fingers before flicking his thumb and sending it into the air. He watched the coin once again as if it flew in slow motion, watching as it turned end over end. Then in a flash his hand dashed out and decisively caught the coin, he then slowly opened his hand and took a peek. He then pocketed the coin and turned to Sory. This was going to seem fairly random but…

“Sory, my good buddy old pal, I think I’m going to take a page out of Alex’s book. I’ll join you in your hunt for your brother, it’s the least I can do for you after you healed me like that!” He cracked a long sliver of a grin as he said this. Maybe he had been a little overdramatic, but he didn’t really expect the boy to disagree. He heard Nalo’s comments about Sory being the ‘leader’ “Oh but uh… “ he leaned relaxed on Sory’s shoulder for a second “Don’t expect to be able to boss me around or anything” and with that he chuckled and walked towards what was attracting several peoples attention.

Elde stopped dead in his tracks. He couldn’t believe he had forgotten, he felt like he could hit himself for forgetting something so important. He knew there was a boy with a candelabra talking to it right now, but by the time he got his bearings he’d probably be finished. When Elde released himself from shock he walked slowly towards that big, feathery, mint green bird ever so slowly. He stopped very close to the bird and slowly his eyes wide, he reached his hands up and placed them on either side of the Chocobo’s head, looking it straight in the eyes. He could not miss this opportunity.

“Can… can I ride you? ... Please?” this must have looked fairly weird to anyone around, especially since Elde was acting pretty outside of his usual smooth self.

[ F α u s † ]

Character(s): Maximillion Alexander Faust II [Faust].
Status: Not fine. Extremely not fine. Extremely.
Location: Traverse Town: First District - Hefin's House.

---

Waiting silently for Aerith's response, Faust was quickly and efficiently scanning the newcomer, his eyes poring over his form for potential weak spots and any hint as to his fighting style or abilities. The immediate concern was his weapon. A hammer, but I haven't seen one like that before - the jets look like they may cause complications. An understatement, the formidable hammer nevertheless caused Faust a moment of consternation, none of which showed on his perpetually neutral face. Continuing his examinations, he noticed the stranger's muscular frame - especially for his size... stable, low to the ground, and strong - and his noticeable lack of upper body clothing - less restrictive, but a mistake... if I get a clear shot, there'll be nothing to deflect or absorb the blow... but does he need it? Finally noting the neutral posture and non-threatening demeanor - but that might last right up until he steps forward and smashes me in the face with that hammer - he began to formulate a battle plan - leap backwards into the building, firing shots, then out through the window... need wide spaces for -

!

The weight increased on Faust's gun-hand in an instant, and he barely avoided lifting his arm up and pulling a trigger that didn't exist, purely as a reflexive action. Breaking sight from the stranger for the first time, he looked down to see the little girl with the doll clinging to his open hand, and - again! Infuriating - gazing up at him from those cerulean-blue pools of innocence that made up her eyes. The discomfort that had left him returned in full force, and he felt his face involuntarily begin to heat up as he gently tried to pry his hand from the child's grip. His gaze returning swiftly to the stranger in the doorway, he immediately began to form another battle plan - damn, can't use the revolver... but with my other hand, I can - what!? Turning his head towards his other hand, he found it gripped tightly by the other girl in the room, this time the... unusual... one, who was looking up at him with her eyes. Gripped involuntarily with a sense of alarm at his burgeoning loss of control over the situation, he redoubled his efforts to free his hands, conversely trying immensely hard to not injure the two 'clingers', as he had dubbed them: which resulted in an almost laughable stalemate, were it not for the concealed look of panic beginning to show in Faust's single visible eye. What was worse, is that they were both saying the same thing:

"You help me find my Ronso?"

"You will help her find her Ronso?"

With all thoughts of a battle plan and the stranger abandoned, a complete lack of control or knowledge on how to handle the situation, and both of his hands wrested from his control, Faust looked back towards Aerith, his features completely neutral, but his single visible eye displaying an extremely hidden, but almost pleading look, although his irritation was obviously mounting. The plea was obvious:

Get them off me.

{A heart shed for power is the only heart of worth.}

[Castle Oblivion : Oath of Affliction -> Commons Area (AKA Kitchen)]

As Olum made his entrance, Vereor merely listened, nodding his head. The Arabian always had a way of speaking endlessly, much like the Veiled Gorgon, but it came off in a different way... stranger, for some reason. Perhaps due to his heart, or Vereor's lack thereof?

"I was sent to Traverse Town to pick up new recruits- the mission had come unexpectedly in the middle of Aria's mission," he explained, motioning toward the trio in front of him. "You'll have your chance to introduce yourselves in a moment."

As the three spoke of their choices (one even giving him something to work off of), Vereor simply nodded. A moongem ring (he'd never formed such a thing before, but it was not beyond his capabilities...), an almandite amulet, and an emerald necklace. Easy enough.

"I will return shortly. Until then, I would ask the three of you not to leave the castle grounds," he spoke, vanishing into a Corridor of Darkness and leaving behind no trace of himself.

{Ignorance is bliss... until reality throws a Heartless siege at you.}

[Traverse Town : First District]

"Soryuju Ryutetsin, and it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance," he responded with a slight bow out of respect. He would have continued speaking, but was immediately distracted by the large blue furry-humanoid that had helped them fight. He was searching for a young girl?

"I'm afraid I've not seen such a girl," he spoke, trying to ponder for a moment where a girl might have gone. The gates into the other Districts were too heavy for a little girl to push open, so she was probably still in this district... "Have you checked the alleys? She's safe in the First District, I can almost promise that-"

As Sou spoke up, Soryuju felt his head spin a little. So many things. "Uh, yeah! I could definitely use a bite to eat after that, and we were in the diner for food before the battle ended..." he explained, his stomach lightly growling. When Elde suddenly came up to him, patting him on the shoulder and giving his own two cents on what Alex had said earlier, he felt his ears become warm as the blood rushed into them. Luckily, they were hidden by his hair.

I didn't think so many would want to help...

"Of course, your help would be a great addition-" he began, only to be interrupted by the man striding over to the Chocobo, who had another companion- a mage, it seemed.

"By Oresia," he muttered, rubbing the bridge of his nose as a headache started to kick in- they seemed to occur regularly. His mother called them 'tension headaches'- short, powerful bursts of pain, followed by a few moments reprieve. He needed a little relaxation. "Suzu, Kuumaru, Alex, would you care to join me at the other cafe for dinner? We can try and continue our talks there. I just need some food..."

User Image[First District : Hefin's House]

"Oh, that's Hefin- this is his house, and I was babysitting his daughter," she explained lightly, a look of concern on hear features as he looked over Hefin's form. He looked more worn than he had when he last left- he had been a part of the fight. She could ask him, but... with so many people in his house, and the way he looked...

"I think it best we leave Mr. Hefin to rest now, so let's go you two," Aerith said, looking toward Youni and motioning for her to follow, only to have the young girl cling to Faust, and then for Youni to look to Faust with curious eyes, asking her own questions. Aerith shook her head slightly, giving the most apologetic glance to both Faust and Hefin that she could manage.

"I will help find your Ronso," Aerith offered without hesitation, both as a sympathetic offer, and a way to get the two girls away from Faust. "This man has a job to do already, so I will help, and Youni will come with me to see what a Ronso is. Okay?"

With that, she lightly took the young child's hand and attempted to walk toward the door, looking to her with a smile and once again motioning for Youni to follow. She didn't force the girl to come with her, of course- her hand could easily slip away. But it was a way for them to get away.

[ Enyb ]

{Kweh...[Oh my...]}

[Traverse Town: First District]

His musings were cut short by Sol. How'd he remember the name? Cause the chocobo gave the mage that candlestick, of course. "Wark![Sol!]" he said happily, nuzzling the mage's face affectionately.

Once he stopped doing that, someone grabbed his face and turned it, making him stare into the eyes of some male human. A human asking him for a ride, no less!

"Warkwehkweh wark kwarkweh.[Maybe another time, cause I'm tired, but not now.]" To prove this, Enyb slumped a little bit, showing off how tired he was, still.

{You look like you fell down a tree and hit every possible branch on the way down.}

[Traverse Town :: First District]

Suzu stifled a laugh as Sory tried to answer the questions all by himself, then again aside from Hefin who lived here, the knight was the next best bet in answering questions. She would've gone to pet the large feathered creature but Enyb seemed to be a popular attraction amongst everyone. She wondered a bit about the two people Elde and Alexandra and their pledge to help Sory. Sounded like a good idea since she could've sworn that one sound woman said something about ... Suzu shook her head and figured she'd ask Maru about it during dinner.

"Dinner seems like a wonderful idea." Suzu's face lightened, a smile immediately coming to her face. Finally food. She was already hungry before and the battle completely drained her. "Sound like a good idea Maru?"

"I'm fine." Kuumaru replied hastily, his tone betraying his frustration. He didn't get a chance to eat and now he was surrounded by strangers! Lots and lots of strangers. He glared and hung behind his sister. If any one of them made a move, he'd cleave their heads straight from their shoulders! That Mitsudo kid was annoying too. Who the heck did he think he was, marching in with no manners and wearing the royal crest! It just made him feel horribly homesick so he slunk further into his dour mood.

"Yeah... food, whatever you want aneue(older sister)."

Youni found Fausts reactions very interesting. He’s expressions and gestures expressed he was experiencing some kind of form of fright. Aerith had explained Fear once to her, it was a survival instinct that allows a living being to flee to their lived through whatever encounter/event/situation that put their own welfare in jeopardy. Which- confused her, this situation was most definitely to HIS advantage- judging by height and build- surely he was the stronger of her and the child yes?
Unknowingly, her brows would crease and the faintest glimmer of a true expression exposed itself with the subtlety of a fish drifting below murky water.

"This man has a job to do already, so I will help, and Youni will come with me to see what a Ronso is. Okay?"

When the girl would be taken by the hand away from him, Youni’s hand remained on his other arm a moment longer. She stared suddenly intently, “…do you fear me? Surely you are the stronger of us… you could easily break me if you wished. So I do not understand your feelings.” And just like that she released him.
“…you can go, I let you go. I go with Aerith and find the Ronso.”
And so she did, following behind the healer and the child. Youni would look back to him only once, and for that one moment, something flickered behind her gold eye. Then subtle expression melted away behind the vacant one she possessed before and she continued on her way.

[[Vain]]

"Death out of a Father's Pride"

___[Traverse Town .:. Third District]

As Vain looked around at all of the Heartless, his right hand beginning to burn for reasons he didn't fully understand. Slowly, the burning sensation increased as though his hand were actually on fire, causing him to pull the hand into view to get some air. And a strange thing happened when he did.

The Heartless all became fixated on his hand. Even in his agonized state, Vain could express some level of curiosity about this act, moving the hand back and forth as if to watch their gaze follow it. They're.. attracted to my hand?... Out of instinct, as though he were simply acting off of some old habit he'd forgotten, Vain lunged forward at the closest Heartless and grabbed it by the head with his right hand. It flailed and scratched at Vain, but his mind was elsewhere, and his instinct- no, the instincts of the hand itself, were in full control. The Heartless suddenly began to get smaller, the definition in its limbs weakening just before vanishing altogether.

In a manner of moments, the Heartless was gone, save for the Emblem the Soldier was wearing. The small symbol dropped to the ground before fading to darkness... And Vain's hand burned a little less. "So... Its hungry..." The young man held the hand over his head, examining it with a strange look on his face before looking back to the Heartless.

"Dinner time."

"Mercy out of a Father's Cry."

"Where's my Ronso?"

[Traverse Town :: First District :: Hefin's House]

User Image While Colorai was being led away from Faust she let out a sound that sounded like a whimper and a scream.

She kept on walking with Aerith. But one could see she was hesitant. She turned around and looked at Faust. The wheels were turning in her head and she stared at the man yet again.

"Mister," she said, gently taking her hand out of Aerith's and running to him. "I hope you get your job done. So you can meet my Ronso. I like you."

Then Colorai shoved her stuffed kitty into Faust's hands and ran back to Aerith, offering her hand to her to hold.

"Even without my tribe I have my family."

[Traverse Town :: Second District. -> First District

Xifan slightly bowed to the man that had told him to look around this district, and took off down one of the allies "Colorai!" he yelled from time to time, but mostly he relied on his keen eyesight to pick out the child.

With no luck, Xifan slowed down his pace to once again gather his thoughts. Could she be in one of the buildings? The Ronso had reached the main plaza again and this time entered the Accessory Shop, hoping to find the little girl in there.

[Traverse Town : Third District]

"It's mostly just the Third District. This place is like their breeding ground or something," Yuffie said with a shrug, obviously not knowing too much about the Heartless anatomy. "The First District's just been attacked for the first time in awhile, though, so that might be why there's such a large amount here. They wake up when dark things happen."

The tone in her voice toward the end had held a bit of bitterness, as if she'd experienced it in some way, shape, or form. Indeed, any time Maleficent stopped by for a visit, you could bet on a Third District flood of Heartless, some seeping in to even the First District. A distinct frown on her features, she gave her shuriken another toss, keeping the rows of Heartless back.

"If you two are headed somewhere, don't bother sitting around fighting- you're already pretty pooped. Just fight your way there," she said, catching her shuriken and slowly back-stepping toward the Door of Flame. "I have to go see an old wizard about fixing up the First District. Think you guys can make it on your own?"

[ Ӎіnα ]

{ Don't underestimate the light. }

[Traverse Town : Third District]

Mina pointed to herself and mouthed the words, "I'm not pooped," silently, after Yuffie made the observation, no actual sound coming out of her mouth. Heck, Mina hadn't even had a chance to swing her weapon around, not even once!

"Yeah, we got it! Thanks a bunch," Mina said, glad for the advice, and the information. So the First District was recently attacked, huh? She hoped it wasn't too bad. There was something she needed from there, something important.

She made her way over to Vain easily enough. He wasn't that far away from her. "The First District is this way," she said, and pointed toward it. "It might be locked, though, so we might wanna go to the Second District first." She pointed at another door, indicating their choices.

Oh! She looked back at Yuffie, if she wasn't gone already, and gave some information of her own, it was only polite, "Merlin just got back. He's there right now."

She seemed familiar with this world. In truth, she had been here before, but only briefly. If she remembered correctly, there was a very important 'something' in the First District, somewhere in a restaurant, that she needed to pick up. Hey, it might even be able to help Vain, too!

A Heartless wandered closer, popping up from the ground and lunging at her. The lightning ability of her weapon was still in effect, so as she swung at the creature, hitting it squarely, it was first dazed, and just kinda stood there, electrocuted. One more hit finished it off.

"We'd better hurry, though! There's a lot of 'em!"

((Edit: I didn't even notice Vain's post. xD Eh, heh, heh, he- my bad. We'll just go with Mina not even noticing that Vain was using his arm to eat the Heartless (or whatever) because she was busy looking back and telling Yuffie Merlin was home. 'Kay? xD))

{Don't fear the dark... fear what's in it.}

[Castle Oblivion : Outside Kitchen/Common Room - Common Room]

Zekvyr watched impassively as Masenko left. He had the distinct impression that the man was trying to get a rise out of him. Heh, maybe he was just imagining things. He didn't pretend to understand Masenko. In fact he admitted on a daily basis that the apathetic Nobody was just damn confusing.

He'd figure him out, in time. If he could ever get his mind around apathy, and that strange sense of humor.

Oh? Now what was this? Vereor was back. The drow made his way back into the Common Room, avoiding the Kitchen area this time and positioning himself in a far corner. It was unlikely that anyone had seen him enter. After all, Zekvyr wasn't seen when he didn't want to be seen- most of the time. Even now Zekvyr appeared as more of a shadow than a person, leaning inconspicuously against a pillar, and considering the newcomers with a cold stare.

The only one who would likely have noticed his presence from the start would be the mind-reader, but the drow was far from aware that he could read minds. A quick glance into the drow's mind would reveal an evil the mind-reader was unfamiliar with. It was, simply put, horrifying. 'Cold-blooded' would be an understatement.

He watched silently as Vereor left, but still made no move to make himself known. He was just... watching.
