That also explained a bit of how Roydon knew common tongue so well at a young age. It also made sense, make people comfortable they might stick around more, buy something, and come back another time.
"Oh... didn't know that, but it makes sense, so it just becomes reflex to use common tongue outside of the home?"

Roydon shrugged and stepped out of the boat. "It's just how it's always been," he smiled. "Common Tongue is what we're all taught to speak first ... if we learn the other languages, they come later."
"Except in my case," Leyenda grinned. "Mother insisted that I learn all three languages right as soon as I started to learn to talk."
She picked up the hatch where the fish had been stowed. Apparently it was removable - in fact, it was by her own design that it had been so.

Getting up Lin looked over to Earendil to see if perhaps Senka wanted to come back with her. Senka on the other hand was happy to be just where she was, even though her fish was just remains of what it once had been. So now Senka was happily rubbing against Earnedil and cleaning herself with her paw.
Lin sighed before she hopped off the boat, "Well I can understand why your mother would insist on you learning many languages at once."
Since she had no doubt that Arwen had the same upbringing.

Leyenda laughed. "I don't even recall finding out that there were different languages. Seriously, I was just learning to talk."
Roydon smiled. "The younger they are, the easier it is for them to learn," he murmured. "It just seemed to make the most sense to teach her young. And of course now we do also keep up with it, we use the different elvish languages when it's just us and Arwen."
Earendil was careful not to jostle Senka too much as he moved out of the boat. He was glad to be back on solid land, though he had enjoyed their time on the boat as well. It was something he was sure he would get used to.

"Of course," Lin agreed.
She had learn young after all, well as young as one would consider a Second child anyways.
"It reminds me of stories I've heard of Rhea's fluffy cat Whisper, apparently she talked to it in so many languages that the cat ended up talking in bits and pieces of each language while she was a kitten."

Roydon chuckled. "Arwen told stories about that," he grinned as he led them back towards the house. "I'm just glad that that doesn't happen when you teach children to talk. It works out rather well that way."
Leyenda was the first back to the house, and she ran inside holding her box of fish high and calling out in High Elven.

"Actually I think it's a really neat talent to be able to do that without thinking," Lin replied with a grin.
She was sure the nekos could if you just asked them, Lin couldn't unless she thought about it... or was having a raging fever and just simply not thinking about it at all.
"If for no other reason it would make a really good code."

"Talent?" Roydon shook his head, chuckling to himself. "Curse. Talent is the last word I would use for it. Think. No one would be able to understand you. Wouldn't that be frustrating?"
He held the door open for Lin to head inside.

"True, but if you could choose when to talk like that, it would be neat."
She headed in ahead of Roydon and looked to see where Leyenda was.

Leyenda was showing Arwen all of the fish she had caught, and Arwen was chatting cheerfully with her as she set the fish out and prepared to get them ready for dinner.
"Ah, don't forget to ask about Alyse," Roydon reminded Lin. "Or anyone else she might have gotten word from."

"Oh yea..." Lin mused, "Thanks for reminding me."
She made her way towards Arwen, she stopped and waited for the two to finish their conversation not wanting to interrupt them.

When Arwen saw Lin enter the room, she stopped the conversation short - both of them were so chatty, they could keep talking forever.
"So?" she smiled warmly at Lin as she set Leyenda's box up on the counter. "How was your first fishing trip?"

"It was great, I did try for a while it was a lot of harder than I thought," Lin replied.
She scratched the back of her head sheepishly at that.
"Maybe next time the other type of fishing," she paused for a moment, "Uhm... I was wondering Arwen, since there's a large time difference and all if you heard about Alyse at all?"

Arwen smiled at Lin. "It's not easy, though I know Leyenda makes it look that way," she agreed. At Lin's question, her eyes lit up brightly. "That reminds me! While you were all out, a letter came!"
She hurried over to snatch up a piece of paper that was laying on the kitchen table. "From Seeker. Lothiriel." She laughed. "Amora had her baby! Healthy baby boy, they called him Egleriad. Six days ago now."

"Six days ago?" Lin blinked in surprised.
A smile spread on her lips at the thought of it, and she also thought it was going to be really hard to visit everyone. She really really wanted to see Amora as well.
"That's wonderful," Lin grinned, "I would like to visit her.. maybe... after this trip..."
