(Hm...you're really trying to push my creativity, aren't you? ^^)
(( 3nodding ))

Fool! The blood on Alder's shoulder wasn't caused by KetsuekiZenchou - Mock's nodachi - so the bleeding would sooner or later stop. But it was Alder's blood nonetheless, and Mock could absorb it after having tasted it once during the course of battle. As the blood drops touched the ground, they began flying in a spiral towards the nodachi's blade and were absorbed by it. Mock's power increased. His Zanpakutou was feasting on his opponent's blood.

Alder dodged the area to where the dark wave was supposedly heading to, preemptively, just as MockaDash was expecting. The blades clashed, but the wave wasn't actually heading in that direction - rising up to meet Alder. The wave was spreading to Mock's right flank, where he had purposely left an opening there, and was expecting Alder to strike in that place. It had all been a ruse. I can still see you, Alder-kun! The Captain said with a wicked grin on his face, as tobacco smoke came out of his nostrils.

The wave, instead of directly covering Mock's right side, made an arched movement, rising before gaining speed and swiftly descending upon the entire right portion of Mock's body. Alder was astute, but he was assuming too much. Mock took advantage of it. No cloud of dust would ever be able to conceal his presence from the Captain, at this point.

The attacks were calculated with exemplar precision, so only when Alder and Mock would be within reach of each other, would a curtain of dark reiatsu presented itself in between them. The wave that was attached to Mock's nodachi let go of it, and was waiting for Alder to foolhardily rush into it. The wave then tried to surround its target from all sides - same as before - and Mock had just bought himself enough time to swing his blade down, towards the top of Alder's head - a clean cut from head to toe, intending to slice the Shinigami's body in half, over the sagittal plane. Made possible, by the long length of the blade.

However, Mock would not stop here. He released a second dark wave as he swung the nodachi, perpendicular to the first one. This second one, would travel on a straight path towards the ground below, crashing on the rocky surface and projecting debris into the air.

((I don't know if it was in purpose or if you really got mixed up. But I have no limit to this tracing ability of mine. After "tasting" your blood, I can feel it's "scent". Providing I still have influence over it, as in this particular case, where your ankle is still bleeding. ))
PostPosted: Wed Aug 05, 2009 11:02 pm

(It ends here. XD I don't have the time or Reiatsu to best this.)

Alder let out an exasperated gasp as he threw himself backwards to escape the splitting slice of the Nodachi. Unfortunately, he wasn't as fortunate with the waves. The first one hit him head on, and the slicing sensation tortured his nerves. He made no sound as he was violently thrown to the ground, his clothes sliced up, and ripped, his body leaking out blood profusely, and, oddly enough, a huge grin on his face. He landed to the ground, his eyes staring right at Mock, wearing the same silly grin as when he started. He saw the second wave kick up debris, although that didn't matter to him right now. "That....was fun...." Alder said between fits of coughing up blood.

(And the blood thing was just an experiment.)

Mock closed his eye, and replied. True. It was fun. The menacing aura that just moments ago was surrounding him, had disappeared. All the blood in the battlefield, that was shed by Alder, flew into the nodachi's blade. Shining reishi particles, could then be seen coming out of everywhere. The ground, the air, everywhere this small particles were flying and reaching Alder, entering deep within his body.

I've replenished all the blood that you've just lost. You won't die from blood loss anymore. Also, the wounds are all closed now, but the damage is still there... The Captain said, between puffs of tobacco smoke, and while his nodachi was shrinking to the size of a wakizashi once more. Do you think you can handle them if I heal them a little? Or would it be best to take you to the 4th Squad? I don't possess any actual healing skills, but I learned how to channel reiryoku a long time ago, in order to somewhat heal wounds.

He returned the dagger to his kusode and approached Alder, kneeling beside him and saying to him, displaying a wide grin across his face. You put up a good fight, I must say. Though, are you going to tell me why it was that you so eagerly wanted to challenge me?
PostPosted: Wed Aug 05, 2009 11:29 pm

Alder rolled over onto his back, and a grimace crossed his face for a second. He'd forgotten about the burn on his back. "I'll be fine with a little healing. This is nothing." He replied suddenly. His actions afterward spoke otherwise, however, as he threw up more and more blood. "Damn it...." He said, in a rather irritated voice. "As for your other question..." Alder began, "The one and only reason i really wanted to fight you, was because when I saw you fighting Yuki the first day I joined Squad Thirteen, I saw some sort of fire in your eyes. I saw the intent of battle focused on Yuki, and the only reason I fought you here, was because I wanted that fighting intent focused on myself. I wanted to witness firsthand the strength that carried behind those eyes." Alder spoke in a rather unusual tone, which sounded more weary than anything. "Perhaps a visit to the fourth division would be better....I think that wave really messed up my reiatsu." Alder said softly.

Baka! Don't further exert yourself!!! Mock said, while laying his hands on top of Alder's body. You've just opened the wounds I closed. And you had to wait for me to seal my Zanpakutou... While channeling green-colored reiryoku into alder's body, to somewhat heal the wounds and ease his pain, MockaDash listened to what he had to say.

He started laughing after Alder had finished explaining his reasons. Omoshiroi!!! So you wanted to test your might against something like that, ne??? MockaDash was not being his usual self. He was talking in a carefree manner, not usually seen in the past 3 years at least. Some people have witnessed this glimpses of what the Captain used to be like, however... In moments exactly like this one.

All this time I was thinking you were challenging me, when actually you were challenging yourself! You're a weird one, Alder-kun!!! I saw the same battle drive on your expression, but I was unable to unravel the motives behind it!

Welcome to the 13th Squad!!!
He presented him with the widest grin that Alder ever had the opportunity to witness. You're ready to be a Divine Protector now, Alder-kun!!! With these words, he finished healing the Shinigami to the best of his abbilities, and got up.

Turning to Hatsu he said, while still smoking from his pipe. Hatsu-chan, I apologize for having to ask this of you, after sending you on an errand just moments ago! But, could you please, take Alder to the 4th Squad Healing room? Mashiro and Danko are busy sparring, and I need to talk to Mikazuki there, so you're the only one free to go! I have faith in you! He smiled.

Oh! And by the way, good work in bringing Mikazuki back! I knew that if someone could do it, you would be that person!!! Thank you!

Walking over to where Mikazuki was, Mock asked her. I know this may seem out of place, but why are you here again? His demeanor changed back to that serious and composed one.

Alder chuckled once Mock was finished talking, and slowly stood up, as to keep his wounds closed. He limped his way to Hatsu, and immediately noticed something different. Something with her reiatsu....something....feral, like a cat or fox. "I get it....heh, it's rather interesting to have a Kitsune in Squad Thirteen." He said as he flashed Hatsu a grin. "Well, I guess it's off to the forth squad." He said cheerily to her.

Mikazuki sensed a type of disappointment in Hatsume's voice after hearing her talk about not having learned any kidou. The battle had just ended, and her eyes were strained just from trying to keep up with the Captain and the others. She blinked a few times, thinking that she had forgotten to blink when she was watching. For everything that she had seen, she had picked up a few new things, and from watching the spar, had gained a little more experience, even though she herself was not the one who experienced it.

"You know Hatsume-chan, when I was at school, I never really excelled at any single thing," Mikazuki sighed, looking past the field, as if staring into space, "I was average at everything, I never got the top spot, and the only thing that separated me from everyone else was my willingness to learn anything and everything new."

She stood up and stretched her legs a bit, putting her arms behind her to stretch them out as well, "if at least you're willing to learn something, then you should let things flow naturally, it may not be now, but if you want to, then, you'll find a way to do it; at least, that's how I see it."

Mikazuki chuckled a little and dusted her sleeve off a little bit, checking her sword as well, "But you know, that's probably the Taoist in me just talking again . . ."

Looking up to see the Captain coming towards her, Mikazuki straightened herself stiff, looked Captain Mock in the eyes and gave a standard salute. "Captain," she began, "you called for me, sir."

Thinking about the Captain's question once again made her feel uncomfortable. She was not sure of what he wanted to hear from her, yet she herself could not give an answer that would be not be true to herself.

"Perhaps, Captain, you did not like the way I replied to the question you asked me last time?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 06, 2009 6:12 pm

Surprising as it may seem, that is actually true. Mock replied to Mikazuki. Taking the time to smoke from the kiseru, he then continued While it is true, that I summoned you here because I did not like your answer, the main question remains unanswered still.

Why are you here, now?

And also, it might help you to remember the last think I asked you before you left. "Why do you believe you deserve this training?"
He quoted himself. That was the question, that made Mikazuki ran away the first time.

Mashiro Morimoto 4th-Seat

PostPosted: Thu Aug 06, 2009 8:44 pm

Captain Mashiro Morimoto
irishshamrock12
Danko did a handstand backwards, while doing this he aimed a kick at Mashiros head. He got back up and parried the spinning slice, then he sliced at Mashiros chest.

((Its ok, we all have our flaws... but we also all help one another when they need it. That is why this is one of the Best Squads in the Seireitei. Now, back to the post!^^))

Mashiro was beginning to get irritaited by how well Danko could move. It took real skill to be able to battle with that type of speed, even with a veteran such as Mashiro. Sure, he wasn't the best fighter in the Squad but he was good enough. After all, he was being trained by the best. Though Danko had his skills with fighting, it seemed to Mashiro he was following the same patern over and over. First he would block, or avoid, then move in for the attack. If this was the case, then Mashiro was in for an easy win. "Now now, kicking isn't very nice is it?" Mashiro asked from a safe distance from the young shinigami. At that same time there was a pale, blue light that was comming at the unexpecting shinigami.

Mashiro did not see the kick to his face comming, but there was no need. His spinning attack was more than enough to dodge the kick, as well as continue the move. Then again a bit of friction on his back was enough to miss Danko by just hairs. Mashiro's blade was parried by the young shinigami, but only because he was trying to slice Mashiro's chest. Aside front that this caused the Blonde Shinigami to sweat a little. If he had not missed his stepping he could propably be dead from the hole in his chest. This caused Mashiro to take action quick and stop "Playing Around". " Hadou #1, Shou." instead of using it on Danko, Mashiro pushed himself back and allowed the room between them to grow. Since Danko did not know how to use any kidou, this could have been the perfect moment to take advantage of that. " I hope you keep that speed up, Danko.... Hadou #4, Byakurai." Mashiro said as he raised his right index finger, which was holding his zanpaku-tou. The blue, pale light went flying at the shinigami. Sure it was easy to avoid, but at least it would keep him on edge while Mashiro assest how Danko moves, and how to exploit it.

((Sorry.... bumping this forward so Irish can see it when he gets back on ^^))
PostPosted: Thu Aug 06, 2009 9:23 pm

((Sorry I forgot to say I was going to band camp))

Danko dodged quickly recovered and got ready for the real fight to begin now that Kidou had been brought into play. Danko sidesteped the attack and started running. He then jumped up into the air as she swirled Tebikikarafuji in a windmill style over his head, prouducing wind resistance.

((Hate quoting OOCs, but it seems that you haven't checked the thread, Irish. Please be aware of this notice I made for you. You can't continue to write short RPs in all your posts. ))

((@Irish: I have high high standards for everyone in this Squad. Not over-the-top ones, but still, above average. As such, one liners is not acceptable.

Sometimes, you just don't have nothing else to say, or you don't want to on purpose. On this same page I've made a short post, but I kept it short, for the aforementioned reasons.

Systematically making short posts, won't get you very far on this Guild, and surely not on this Squad. Your writing style tells me you can do much better. So work for it. Do it.))

He quoted himself. That was the question, that made Mikazuki ran away the first time.

"Hmm," Mikazuki let out as she thought it through, "wasn't it you, Captain, who asked me to come here?"

" . . . almost with brute force I might say," she added, remembering Hatsume's willingness to smack her one just so that she would come with her.

"But I digress, Captain," she said, looking at and scanning her Captain's face, "why I am here now is because I came to ask again for your training."

Mikazuki stared at him as he did looked at her. She let a pause come in between the two of them and then continued with her response.

"I also believe Captain, according to what Hatsume indirectly told me, that you think I ran away from your response the last time," Mikazuki explained slowly, but in a semi-confident voice added, "To the same question I will acknowledge once again that I believe I am not ready for anything, yet I am willing to learn everything."

"Like I have explained to Hatsume, as a Taoist at heart, I cannot bear to impose an illusion upon myself, that I, as an individual, am ready and eligible for what you might be able to offer me, even though I might want it," she explained, "nor would I impose my own personal force of will on any person, should it be you or anybody else, Captain; because it just destroys the natural balance of things."

"And you might tell me that because of this passiveness I might not be able to fight anyone," Mikazuki quickly added, "but it is because I want to protect this natural balance that I had joined the 13th Squad."

I don't want to disrespect your beliefs when I say this, so please forgive me if you think I am. But it seems that those beliefs are clouding your judgment. Mock answered Mikazuki, after hearing everything she had to say.

I've already said this, the reason why I called you back, was because I was unsatisfied with your reason for leaving. Alas, I still am disappointed with what you've just said. The Captain paused for a moment, to smoke from his pipe, before continuing. I was not the one who brought you here, stop fooling yourself. It was your own will that brought you here. You asked for the training in the first place, and I merely comply and suggested this location. You chose to follow me. I did not force you. Even though Hatsume and myself might have used a forceful method to bring you back to this place, ultimately you're a free person. So you can always chose to abide by it, or not.

I'm merely asking, why did you abide? Do you understand your own erroneous way? You willingly chose to ask for training, but when faced with the eventuality of the training in itself, you turned your back on it. I see that, as fragility of heart, no matter how you choose to mask it.

Letting out a sigh, Mock was observing Mikazuki's reaction to his words, but didn't let it hinder what he was saying. Isn't it in Taoism's Wu wei principle, the concept of "action without action", that a true practitioner of Taoism is able to observe the invisible potential within all things? Though it might be true, that according to those beliefs, when someone imposes his/her will against the world, he/she is disrupting the harmony of nature. According to the same beliefs, man's will is not the root of the problem, but rather when that same will goes against it. This does not imply that the will of man always goes against nature. Or isn't man a part of nature himself?

Mock gave Mikazuki his most direct stare ever, as he reached the pinnacle of his argumentation. Wouldn't you agree, that in order to balance something out, meaning to protect the order of things, you need power? And to gain that power, you first need to seek it? So in that sense, wouldn't asking for training in itself, be an act of seeking balance? I honestly couldn't care less what your reasons behind your request are. As long as they're rooted deep within yourself.

If you lack resolve, you'll never get anything done! And if you don't get anything done, you'll actually be going against the universe, since everything in it has a purpose and an impact on everything else. Therefore, not having resolve, is going against your own purpose, and nature's purpose for you. Is going against your own Taoist beliefs.

Am I wrong?
PostPosted: Fri Aug 14, 2009 7:47 pm

((Sorry for the week-long absence. I didn't get think I'd get swamped with midterms this week. And I'm sorry for this short post, I have a lot of org-related activities to finish as well.))

Mikazuki put a hand to her forehead and let out an audible enough sigh. She did not like dauntless debate and rhetorics, it was unnecessary and time wasting. She looked through her fingers and at her Captain again, staring at him, questioning his motives.

"I will drop the subject of my beliefs, Captain", she said, "we are going too far into this and this is getting us nowhere quickly."

Dropping her hand back down, she took a deep breath in and let it out slowly. Mikazuki's thoughts raced with logical fallacies that she fought to keep inside her. Staring at the sky, she thought to just close off the argument with a final word, "You seem to be considering it, however, that I am extremely Taoist, but I am not."

"In my defense, I would like to point out again, that I did not run away from training," Mikazuki explained, "yet, when you had said 'No', you keep thinking that I turned my back with so called 'fragility of heart'."

"I merely sought my own avenues of training," she said, pointing a lazy thumb towards the general direction of the Training Grounds, "and if we are just going to argue about my views of Wu Wei, then I would like to get back to my self-training."

She turned 90 degrees, as if to take a step backwards, towards where she came from. But Mikazuki kept her head facing her Captain and gave him another inquisitive look, "If you are going to ask me my definition of "Protection", Captain, it's simply the stopping or prevention of someone else's forceful will going against the natural order of good. And I'm not going to be able to do that if you keep me here, asking me to change my point of view of the world."

((Sorry for the wait and the long post! xp Remember that these are Mock's feelings and not mine. So don't be offended Gale, though I guess Mikazuki will... ))

Mikazuki-san, a strong body on a weak mind, achieves nothing. In that sense, this conversation is more important than months of intensive physical training. Mock said, cleaning the burnt tobacco leaves from his pipe, and storing it on his kusode. His face, as if carved in stone, showed no emotion whatsoever. Though I may seem presumptuous at times, I assure you that I'm not. Unlike you, I must admit, who have just proven to be presumptuous.

You say that we're getting nowhere? That we're wasting each other's time? Mind your words and actions. Recall today's events.
His voice was serene, soothing even, but harsh and strict nonetheless. Who came for me, asking to be trained? Who made me come to this place, and wasted my time with nonsense? Asking for training is the same as asking for guidance! I never impose that I was to be your teacher, but upon being asked to be one, I expect nothing less than total obedience to how I choose to conduct the training!

I couldn't care less for your own philosophies, Mikazuki-san. You're free to believe in whatever you wish to believe. But there are two things that I demand of you, as my subordinate!
Mock spoke loud and clear, so as everyone could listen, and not only the intended recipient of those words.

Number one. That you follow the creed of this Squad. My creed! You're free to do it in your own way, and in accordance to your beliefs. But those same beliefs can never impose themselves upon the "Divine Protectors" one. As they did today, twice to be precise. On both occasions that you turned your back on me. MockaDash was already anticipating Mikazuki's imminent withdrawal to the training grounds, once again on her own.

Number two. That you not only follow my every command, but most importantly, also trust my every decision. You've just failed to fulfill this as well. Failed horribly, I must add. Even if my conduct today really was unnecessary or wrong, according to everyone else's standards. It was mine to do, and yours to follow. I don't remember ever giving you the freedom to go against my orders. If I ask, you answer. If I demand you deliver. Your opinion on whether this is fruitless or not, was never necessary. You answer not to balance, but to power, as everything else in existence. Though ruthless and fascist those words might seem, the truth was, that Mock had proven himself several times in the past, to his superiors. Now, as per the way of things, it was time for others to prove themselves to him. There was no other need to prove to others that he was worthy of being followed, that having achieved the rank of Captaincy.

Life will show you Mikazuki-san, as it has showed me, that philosophies such as yours are as empty as the people who follow them. There is no balance in nothing, same as there is no right or wrong. No good or bad. Same as balance is a lie, the search for balance is meaningless. That which drives us, is the search for fulfillment. Mock spoke from self experience. Though some things are to be interpreted by the receiver as they are perceived. Others are bound to be universal truths, like the apple that will always fall from the tree, and not the other way around. This was a lesson, imprinted on him though painfull events, that he would never allow himself to forget. If balance was true, then there would be no need to uphold it, since it would always be there, one way or the other. Chaos is what reigns in this world, and you can experience it everywhere. Be it on every chemical reaction, all based on the growth of entropy, or in that which mortals call fate, that ruthlessly favors and disfavors without regards. You were born to die, the same way this universe was made to cease. Every decaying body, no matter how healthy or vigorous it is, is proof that balance is something unattainable.

If balance was to be a given trait of the universe. Then the entire human race had no point in existing to begin with. The fact that one must work towards achieving balance is proof enough that it does not exist. That it's merely an utopia.

Turning around and giving his back to Mikazuki, Mock articulated his last words, while the wind made his haori wave and he glanced over his left shoulder at the young woman. Like I said, Chaos thrives, and we must fight it. Though strange it might seem, chaos is nothing without order. But don't be fooled into thinking that opposite forces are puppets to balance. There is no order to the universe, there are only those on entities, living or not. It's an entity purpose to impose on another's. Same as we impose our "justice" on Hollows, and Hollows impose theirs on us. Conflict is not a search for balance, but a search for supremacy. If you go against the order on this squad, against its supremacy, then I'm truly sorry, but I must go against you as well. He turned and walked away from her.

Begone. Train by yourself if you must. We are done here.
