Feng giggled, "Naida is under the impression that your brother needs a bit of sweetening... it won't work but it's the thought that counts."
She hugged her little girl and giggled some more.
"So, should we continue on, or does he want to join?"
After all Feng also could not just ignore Ruran as she too was taught it was very rude.

"Best ignore him," Aras advised, hiding behind Ruque and trying to be invisible.
"But that's mean," Ecthelion frowned. "It's not nice to leave someone out."
"Then you ask him," Aras muttered darkly.

"Mi...." Miyu would also rather Ruran not come, but she had to admit, he was their brother and it wouldn't be nice to even treat a brother coldly.
Even though technically he was treating them coldly.
"We can go ask together," Feng told Ecthelion, after all she didn't see anything wrong except a grumpy looking little boy.

Ecthelion grinned and slid off Rose's back, running to Feng instead. "Okay," he agreed happily. "Come on, let's go!"
He took Feng by the bottom of her shirt (since her hands were full of Naida) and tugged her towards the grumpy looking boy.
Ruran looked at Ecthelion and Feng as they approached, his face impassive. His scowl lessened, and his eyes softened slightly. One thing about this place, he had to admit, was that at least it was mostly elves here - pure elves at that. Maybe this place wouldn't be as bad as he had first thought ... though that didn't mean that he liked it.

Feng giggled as she hurried along towards Ruran, seeing him up close she was still very sure he was just grumpy. Maybe he hadn't been happy about being left behind, she knew she wouldn't have been if it had been her. Brushing a strand of hair behind her ear she bent over to talk to him.
"Hi there, we're heading to Aliya and Amdir's house for a visit. What to come?"
"Yea!" Naida leaned over her mother's arm to get a good look at the boy, "We're going to have fun!"

Ecthelion grinned along with them. "Yeah, we're going to go see Uncle Adonijah!" he beamed. "He's always fun, he talks to animals just can talk to plants and stuff, so we get lots of stories and stuff!"
Ruran blinked at the three strangers who had approached him. He didn't particularly care about the people they said they were going to visit, but ... he liked the idea of people who could talk to plants and animals. Maybe he would be able to learn some of this stuff. That would make it worth spending the time with them, wouldn't it?
"Sure," he smiled deceptively, appearing to be at ease. He straightened up and dusted off his arms. "I'm Ruran, by the way," he added.

Feng smiled brightly, now that wasn't so bad now was it? At least that is what hse thought to herself, Ruran seemed much happier, perhaps all he needed was to be invited.
"It's good to meet you Ruran, I'm Feng and this is Naida my daughter and this here is Ecthelion."

Ecthelion giggled. "Pleased to meet you!" he beamed. "Everybody says you're going to be living here with us now! Isn't that neat? I bet we can have a lot of fun together!"
Ruran forced a smile, though it looked natural. "I'm sure we will," he said softly. He looked up at Feng and Naida. "You don't seem as if you are from this world," he said in a questioning tone. "Are you Seconds as well?"

Feng nodded, "That's right, I've been coming here since I was a teen, and of course I had to bring Naida here."
She grinned hugging her little girl.
"We're mers by nature, as you can see from Naida."

Ruran nodded, genuinely interested now. "Then having legs is not your true form?" he questioned her. "You have no human blood in you?"
He was content for them to stand there and talk, now that he had found some pure-bloods to talk with. The others were beneath his notice. Half-bloods. Abominations.

Feng blinked down at Ruran wondering how to take that, what did it matter if she had human blood in her or not.
"It's not, it's just how I get around, I'm all mermaid, but I'm also first generation."
Well as first generation as a Second could get anyhow.
Naida thought Ruran was weird, but then again she didn't understand how they could have human blood inside of them, unless they were vampire mermaids of course.

Ruran smiled warmly. "Then you are like my father," he said quietly. "Or at least, how he used to be."
He grew quiet for a moment, looking at Feng thoughtfully. Perhaps somewhat, anyways. "And your mate?" he asked her bluntly. "Also a mer?"
As in, was Naida also a pure-blooded mermaid? Or was she a contamination?

While Feng did have a tendency of looking before she leaped, especially when it came to people, she wasn't by any means naive (despite first appearances). So it was no surprise that there was a little red flag that went off in her head.
"Uhm... actually I asked for Naida, you know... lack of good mates and all that."
Or rather a lack of adults, and probably having a mate on land would make things a tad problematic (the inability to breath under water naturally).
Did she dare ask, "Ruran... sweetie, what do you mean by your father?"

Ruran smiled sweetly at Feng. "Nothing," he smiled. "But what do you mean by asked for? Adopted, then?"
Well, there was nothing wrong with that, was there? Of course not. It meant full-blood, after all, and there could be nothing better than that.

There was something wrong with that smile, normally to Feng there was no such thing as a bad smile, even Mia's smile was sweet (granted Feng had never been on the receiving end of Mia's Smile of Death). Still, Feng decided right then and there that Ruran was a creepy little boy.
"Yes, I adopted her," Feng had the oddest feeling to point out that the goddesses created Ruran too only that he was a mixture of both his parents was a bad idea.
