His body began to trudge slowly down the side as the cold wind brushed within his jacket and clothing. Many would probably find it harder or daunting to be climbing down a distance, especially from such a high cliff. You had no choice but to focus downwards to find a spot to put your feet. You also had to have a strong tenacity and dexterity to keep hold of where you are. There was also the thinking of falling to your demise because of watching the difference in meters, or maybe even miles, between your body and the ground. Yet this did not scare him. Rather it revitalized the serpent youth. Shisei did not become hyped up from such a feat, nor did his adrenaline rise just as yet. Still the same thought usually tracked through his brain at this point in time. “Will I die here? How close can I come to death and come back? If I do die what will be the last thing I see? And if so, is it the same as life?” curious thoughts. Thoughts that almost made him want to jump and investigate these answers. There would be no use in that though. Why gain these answers if you could not come back and study them? To be able to come back and do this is one of the reasons he would become the strongest of all. Yet to become the strongest you could not take the conventional ways. Facing ruin, inspecting it and surviving would be the greatest way of becoming strong. So Shisei would continue.
His form traveled down slowly and steadily. His front out towards the sky while his black hugged tightly against the jagged surface. The slow decent was a pain as the rocks poked into the boy’s spine and back muscles, but he could not let that hinder him. At a certain point he let go of the rocky surface and let his body drop four feet before extending all his limbs out to latch onto something. Three rocks and an extending branch being his brace from the ultimate end. Once again another reckless and life threatening move, but it had the desired effects. Shisei was at the same height and only inches away from his tessen. Like the boy thought “the greater the risk, the stronger I’ll become…”.
Retrieving The Fan Apparently while sleeping the strong winds from the cliff had blown Fenghuang off the edge. It is now stuck within a protruding branch of the cliff. Sliding and slipping on such perilous rocks is sure to bring pain and scratched limbs. Hopefully the young Orochi can retrieve back his fan without falling to his death. 1d20 + Endurance [2] = 12 DC: 12 Train: 2/5 Special: -5 Hp for each failure

-Sun Candy- Serena didn't want to wake up. She was only half conscious of where she was and didn't care to open her eyes to the light coming up. She turned over on the patch of grass she was lying on and took a deep breath in. Before she was going to get up, the Raiken wanted to recollect her memories of the day before...remember why she was sleeping on the cliffs. 'Oh right...new squad..training..' She inhaled another breath of fresh air. 'The dorms..were burning. Sukotto left--I finished practice...and here.' The genin sighed and decided she was going to get up and figure out what everyone was doing. Slowly, she sat up and opened her drowsy gray eyes to the world.
To her surprise, no one was around the cliffs. They hadn't abandoned her, had they? They couldn't have...for if they did, she would be quite upset. Well, the view was still beautiful as always. Serena made her way to the edge of the cliff and looked out at the sea. Just like the sky, it seemed endless... "Hey...Hey! What're you doing down there? You better be careful or you're gonna get hurt!" The Raiken was staring right at a serpent crawling amongst the rocks. His tessen must have found its way down there somehow, and he was planning on retrieving it. It was a rather dumb idea to go down there alone though, the rocky landscape and height was risky. One bad step and he could fall to his demise..

The Orochi boy was finally in sight of his weapon. “Just keep balance…” his mind thought as one arm reached out to grab the tessen. He found his reach was too far at first so the child began to adjust his body. A movement similar to a spider or crab, Shisei began a slow crawl to the right to edge closer to fan. The wind had picked up slightly trying to push his form back. Not only that, but the voice calling out to him broke his concentration. Serena’s shout took the serpent youth off guard and as he moved to another rock his face looked up to meet the kunoichi’s. That was a mistake because as he saw her face, the Raiken’s expressions were beginning to drift further off.
Shisei managed to catch himself at the last moment, before gravity had full effect and would drag him to a splattering end. His palms and feet crashed back into the mountain said making a thick mist of dirt sprout above him. It was quickly blown away by the breeze and revealed that Shisei was just under his tessen now. The dread looked back up at the Raiken. “No. I’m trying to be reckless as possible.” Shisei replied sarcastically. Sadly there was some bitter truth to that. His form slowly crawled back up the cliff’s side returning to the branch where his tessen is stuck. As his frame climbed onto the branch his voice began to mutter out words between grunts. “I’m trying to get back my tessen. Is that a sense of worry over me I hear in your voice?” little snake jokingly questioned although by his facial features one would think he was serious. He may as well have some teasing fun while hanging precariously from the side of a rock face. As his ears waited for an answer the shinobi in training began to tug at his tessen. It seemed to be stuck good between the branch.

Serena stood at the edge, wondering whether or not she should do something about Shisei. The idiot was going to hurt himself unless he remained cautious; but, it was brought to her attention that she was worrying over the serpent. A snide, rude one at that. The Raiken pursed her lips together and gave him a strange stare before she decided to answer. "I have a heart, you know" Unlike the boy looking back at her. He was taunting her..purposely trying to aggrivate the girl. She proceeded to watch as the boy reached for his tessen. "Just...don't kill yourself." There really had to be some better way to retrieve that weapon. He was putting himself at a pretty big risk doing what he was doing now, plus, Serena might be an added distraction. "And don't pull too hard..you might end up losing balance if it gets unstuck."

Shisei stared up and watched as the kunoichi replied back with puckered lips and an expression he was not sure to make out of. It made the boy wonder why was she such a mystery to read? Everyone else was easy to analyze, but not her. The dread hair was not sure what type of reaction the girl may have been expecting. All he knew was that sly smile wasn’t irritated from Shisei’s accusations. At least not on the outside. So the boy would continue. “You a heart? I guess the question is how big is that heart?” Shisei replied turning his focus back to the weapon. It was a little surprising to the maverick that she once again expressed for him not to go over the edge. Perhaps it was because it would be troublesome to find another partner? For now the boy would believe that as the truth. “Yea. Yea.” Shisei stated waving the girl off. Like all kids his age, he rather not be bothered with things like being careful. In his mind he was as careful as can be.. “Besides I can’t di”. Spoke too soon. After with a strong enough tug the tessen came out abruptly and into his face. This made his frame tip over the branch and begin a downward plunge. Fortunately he kept one leg over the branch, so when his body fell his knee bent and caught him as if he were hanging upside down on the playground’s monkey bars. His other foot luckily got caught in between two jagged rocks at the ankle. The abrupt stop had his head bang into the side of the cliff, but his hand still held on to the tessen. Using his other hand to rub the back of his head, Shisei’s eyes stared upwards into the sky and at the Raiken girl. He could probably foresee the next words out of her mouth. “Don’t even say it.” the orochi muttered.

“How embarrassing….” is all the young Orochi could think at the moment. The Raiken girl would definitely get a kick out of this. Shisei was more worried and self conscious of his position than the possible two hundred plus meter drop off the cliff. Well that was also nagging at the back of his mind, but he could not panic at this point in time. That would only make things worse. His eyes loomed up to see how his legs were positioned. Very awkward which meant that he should be careful moving around. The tessen’s weight was actually not helping out, but the serpent kid was not about to let it go after coming down so far. After surveying the area above amber suns stared downward. It was a very…. very very long way down. His face turned upwards again shrugging off curious but frightening shiver of actually plummeting. The boy’s free palm began to make grasps for any type of outlying rock to hold on to. With the one hand his upper frame began to slowly rise to meet the uncomfortable position of his legs. Soon it looked as if Shisei was doing an odd crunch. His other hand trailed behind with the golden weapon.
Yet a strong gust from the east managed to push the youth back slightly so when his fingers made a grasp for another piece of formation he missed. This made his upper body slowly, but then quickly swing back down. Again purple dreads smacked into the stone. The force made the serpent lose grip on his tessen, but he quickly grasped it with the other palm. This was not going well..

The last head collision had the back of the maverick’s head, just above the neck but bellow the head smack into a jagged protruding piece of rock. From first look it would appear that the boy had knocked himself out upside down, but the firm grasp of his war fan was reason enough to believe that he was still awake and alive. With his eyes closed it looked like to eye socket sized black spaces due to the make up around his eyes. In actuality Shisei was waiting for his head to stop spinning after the hit. His head and body felt disoriented as it was. To look and watch the world twirling around like some type top would just be worse and actually cause him to fall. If it wasn’t for the wind he would made it. Worse yet his stuck ankle were moved into an even more irritating position. Now his ankle seemed to be in the vice grip of a crab. “Great…” the boy thought. The snake student began to think of any other ways he could get out. There was always the possibility of letting his frame slide over and before gravity had full control of his fall grapple back onto the mountain. That would be a one chance deal… he could always try the same thing again and just be more careful of the strong breeze. That may be more efficient. The only thing he did not want to do was ask Serena for help. She was probably enjoying this enough as it is. With his eyes still closed the boy used both arms to get Fenguang’s strap around his upper body. With his head not pounding anymore the boy had more of an awareness of his body so it was not difficult. All the time Shisei was considering his options.

[Enter from Housing District]
Sukotto managed to make his way up to the cliffs from the housing district with the goal of getting his team down to help out a bit with the reconstruction effort. In all honesty, the Chuunin didn't plan on having his team stick around the housing district too long, for he needed to train them in specific areas, and figured that most of the manual labor was best left to the low level academy students, who needed to go through a bit more physical training before they'd be ready for the advanced stuff like his squad was. Just as he was about to run up and announce his presence, Sukotto noticed that the two squad members who were present seemed to be going through a bit of a situation. While it was obviously dangerous, he decided against stepping in right away, as this sort of thing would be excellent training, both in a physical, mental, but most importantly, emotional sense. He saw that Shisei was the one at a disadvantage, and it was Serena who would be forced with the choice of helping the boy or not. Sukotto know that Shisei would likely hold this sort of thing against Serena.
While it seemed like quite a ridiculous idea, the Uchiha knew that the Orochi was quite proud and didn't seem to enjoy being assisted by anyone that he considered inferior, and the boy seemed to feel as though everyone was inferior, except those who outranked him. If Serena managed to save him, his opinion of her would only worsen, but if ever forced with the choice of weather or not to save the Raiken, he would be obligated to because of this instance. Sukotto knew that this wasn't really the "right" way to get them to work together, but in his eyes, there would be no other way to get Shisei to work with teammates besides making him owe them something. The Orochi was far too proud to let something like this go unremembered, and would assist Serena in the future if she needed it if she managed to help him out, so Sukotto would hold back out of sight and observe until he was needed. The reconstruction effort in the housing district would simply have to wait, as this was far too important.

The Uchiha wondered how the two had gotten along while he was back in the housing district. He imagined that Serena had remained quiet in her training, steadying herself and perhaps speaking aloud to herself, as Sukotto had heard her doing before, to get certain things through her head so that she'd be able to complete the training in a more efficient manner. This would likely annoy the Orochi child, as he seemed to be the type to talk to himself in his own mind. Sukotto was also of this type, and he knew that any sort of distraction could become slightly annoying to him. While the Uchiha could brush small annoyances off most of the time, Shisei seemed the kind to allow himself to be bothered by the most silent and reserved of gadflies, so Sukotto figured that Serena may have done something to annoy him, no matter what her behavior may have been. This could have stirred the Orochi child to say something laced with acid, but the Raiken had shown from the beginning that she wasn't about to be pushed around by the snake, as she managed to disarm the boy's words from the moment that she arrived to train with the squad. Sukotto could tell that she wasn't thrilled to have Shisei in the squad, but could also tell that she wasn't about to allow that stop her from being the best teammate she could be.

Indeed, he had thought it from the start, but from observing her actions, Sukotto could tell that Serena would be the glue that held the squad together. Unfortunately, Sukotto didn't really have the ability to instruct on an emotional level, as he had lived in isolation for most of his time in Shimagakure, save for the time spent with Senritsu, Kira, and Ichi. Sukotto's real talent was understanding the art of training, and that it was in fact an art to begin with. A shinobi could train and train for their entire life and still be beaten by one who had only trained a few years if the latter managed to discover the former's weaknesses. Sukotto really wanted to pinpoint his squad's weaknesses and demolish them before he began working to fix up their strengths. He had found out his own weaknesses a little late, he figured, and it had taken him quite a while to fix himself up so that his weaknesses were minimized, and he still wasn't quite happy with the way he was and figured that he'd have a long way to go before he had so few weaknesses that only shinobi who specialized in specific areas would be capable of breaching his defenses. For those kinds of shinobi, Sukotto would develop special jutsu that would use their own strengths against them, allowing him to take advantage of the situation.

After assessing himself, the Uchiha shook his head lightly, remembering that he was attempting to focus his attention on the members of his squad and not his individual strengths and weaknesses. He believed that, for the most part, he had what he needed to do figured out for the most part and that the only obstacle that kept him from attaining the level of skill that he desired was time itself. After telling himself that silently, he continued to watch Serena and Shisei, wondering when the girl would help the Orochi out. He figured that it wasn't a question of "if", but merely "when" the girl would force herself to do the "right" thing and lend the boy who had attempted to verbally assault her during the previous day, when she has first arrived to the cliffs. Sukotto would be surprised if the girl decided against helping Shisei, and that would mean that he'd have to step in and then begin to think of a different way to get them to work together, but he hoped that it wouldn't come to that. It would be quite a surprise if it did come to that, but then again, Serena had definitely surprised everyone in the immediate area when she successfully fended off the Orochi boy's vicious words. Sukotto figured that it would be possible for her to refuse to help the Orochi, but thought that it would be quite out of character for the girl.

Sukotto's eyes followed the worn trail that led itself to the pair of shinobi that he called his squad mates, the two that he hoped to assist in becoming proud ninja that would assist in the defense of Shimgakure in the future. One of those two shinobi seemed to be on the right path, as she dismantled a verbal assault that had been thrown at her when she had done nothing to incite it. Indeed, the girl didn't even lash back too harshly, and seemed to have taken it easy on her opponent, to have shown mercy to someone that was clearly in the wrong. The other shinobi in the pair was the one who had launched this attack, and his future was uncertain. Sukotto wasn't sure if the oafs in the academy had seen the way that he behaved, for if they did, then they must have neglected it. He knew that he couldn't just continue to help Shisei become more powerful if the Orochi-born's intentions weren't sound. If the boy merely wanted to become powerful, then Sukotto would help him get there, so long as Shisei repaid this help by aiding in the defense of Shimagakure. If he refused, then Sukotto would simply have to think of something to do with the boy, as that would mean that he'd be a great threat to the village in the future.

Sukotto continued to eye the pair of ninja, wondering if the same girl who had fended off Shisei's assault, the same girl who was shy and lacked confidence in herself, and the same girl who may very well have saved the boy's life from a fatal fall would be the person who was capable of saving him from himself in the long run. There were many evil forces that existed outside of their tiny village, and Sukotto knew full well that any one shinobi who attempted to gain complete power over everything was in for the letdown of a lifetime, as there were too many outside forces that would prevent any single person from clawing their way to the top. Shisei could indeed have made for quite a powerful rogue ninja, but Sukotto knew that he'd be hunted, and even if the boy managed to claim a higher degree of power than Ichi himself had wielded, there would be a force, or a number of forces that would work to end his reign of domination. Sukotto sighed and thought how tragic it would be for someone that he called a pupil to turn into something so corrupt as to need multiple forces working to bring it down. He would do his best to give Serena the strength to take on such a task if the unthinkable responsibility ever happened to fall into her lap.

Sukotto wondered what sorts of tactics he'd teach the two that stood before him to assist them in conquering their foes, and more importantly, any sort of evil that they had lurking within their own souls. He would have to make them understand some of the things that he had experienced in his own life, the loss of both Ichi and Kira, facing defeat in battle, and combating the element that he had previously made note of, the evil that lurked within everyone's soul. The Uchiha knew that he hadn't nearly conquered his own evil, but he had found ways to weaken it, and figured that it could help his squad mates as well. While he knew that everyone was different and the things that assisted him wouldn't necessarily help Serena and Shisei, but he would do his best to adapt his strategies to them as individuals. Training on his own and in serene environments always seemed to help the Chuunin clear his mind and focus on making himself better both physically and spiritually at the same time. In addition, he found that creating things, whether they be the Phoenix Form that he had created, or any form of art, was a great way to filter out any evil that had managed to hide itself in the darkest corners of one's psyche.

Sukotto decided that it would be a good idea to dissect this idea a little further, allowing himself to come up with some things that he could actually use in the future, instead of just vaguely thinking of what needed to be done without actually doing anything about it. He first decided on thinking up what could potentially help Serena dispell any unpleasant things that attacked her within her own soul. Even though she seemed to get a bit shaky when in front of a group, Sukotto could tell from reports about her that he had read through and by occasionally observing her and her peers that she did best when faced with some sort of group activity. Obviously, this meant that his own strategy of training on his own could be something that wouldn't help Serena at all. Knowing this, Sukotto figured that if Serena ever needed to disintegrate a negative emotion, then she'd be best off working through it with a group of shinobi rather than on her own. She wouldn't really have to let anyone else know what she was going through, unless it helped, but Sukotto figured that interaction alone would provide all the help that the girl needed. She would be capable of reaching out to others for help with any problem that she needed, and that was an important quality to have.
