'N-No. I signed, signed a contract to say that, that I worked here, and, and I did say something about being a test subject - but not, not seriously!'

'I knew it. I ******** knew it. No offence, man, but I know you don't have the guts to be experimented on and s**t. That idiot Captain tried to persuade me that you did, showed me the contract and everything.' She sighed angrily. 'I knew there was more to it.'

'Yeah...I was l-locked in a lab when, when Nalini was meant to, to fit my artificial a-arm, then she just jabbed me with some, some chemical,' Aizel explained. He shook his head, not wanting to dwell on it. 'And, and I'm sorry I didn't believe i-it was you earlier. B-But what now? What's the plan?'

'There is no plan,' Evangeline condessed, looking down with a irritated expression. 'Seems the local ghost did something to me after she kidnapped me. I'm...connected to her, somehow. If I leave this facility, I'll die.'

'No...' Aizel whispered, genuinely devastated for her, and not just because they could no longer try and cook up any more escape attempts. 'S-So you're stuck h-here, too?'

'That's about the size of it,' she grumbled. She finally looked up, and met Aizel's eyes. 'I can try and prepare something so you can get out alone, but unless that ******** ghost accompanies me, I can't come with.'

'So what, you don't care that we'll both be stuck here, when potentially only one of us could be?' Evangeline snapped, a bit louder than she meant to. Somebody slumbering in a bed nearby groaned and rolled over, not too badly disturbed by her outcry.

'I - I don't think I c-can leave. I tried to a, a couple pf times. It didn't take me long to realise that, that coming here was a bad idea, y-yet both times, the, the, the C-Captain came after me.'

'He certainly put me in my place, too,' Evangeline said, feeling her pride dent badly at the admittance. 'Maybe if we got him out of the way, or distracted somehow, we could get you out of here.'

'It's, it's dangerous here, if, if you don't know what to l-look out for. I mean, I, I made a stupid mistake and ended up without an arm, for God's sake,' Aizel told her, extending his prosthetic arm. 'B-But at least these n-new abilities help me s-somewhat. I know you, Evangeline. B-blasting your way out, sh-shooting everything that moves, isn't going to help either of us. It'll, it'll probably make things ten, ten times worse.'

'If, if you don't get into, into ordinary lab work within three days - then you end up like me. An experiment,' Aizel explained. 'It was in the, the small print in the c-contracts we all signed.'
