Color Me Fubar She smiled gratefully at him, leaning on him as they made their way away from the house and into the streets. They were beginning to empty, as night was falling and no one was eager to be on the streets once they were dark. "I hope I can fix the Bond," she remarked, frowning as she tried to work out how she might strengthen it without creating her own - she knew it was possible, but her thoughts ran together as she yawned. "I believe in you," Ethin said with a smile, positive that Kiae could sort through the problem. "Just don't wear yourself out." As they neared the inn, Ethin reached in his coinpurse and grabbed two gold crowns. He nodded a the strongarm near the door and he opened the door for the pair. Not wanting to waste time, Ethin flicked the gold crowns at the innkeeper who had watched them enter. The man nodded in understanding and scurried quickly up the stairs to give them their room.

"I need to send my reports to the Amyrlin before we leave for Saldaea, lest she thinks I'm trying to run off again," she realized with a laugh. Kiae shook her head. "I'll do that when we get to the room, or else I'm going to forget again," she muttered, looking up at Ethin with a shrug. "She tries to keep me on a short leash."

Ethin asked politely, wondering whether or not she would not him there with her or standing guard by the door.

Ethin asked politely, wondering whether or not she would not him there with her or standing guard by the door. "No, I'd rather you stay here," Kiae told him, shaking her head at his suggestion and moving towards the desk, where there was paper and ink waiting. She sat down and scratched out a quick note to the Amyrlin in a few minutes, pausing only a few times to correct herself. There wasn't much to tell - despite how much had gone on, most of it could be condensed in a few sentences, to her relief. She rubbed her forehead again, frowning as the pain in her head began to grow and putting the quill down. "Blood and ashes...I'll send the letter in the morning before we leave, Ethin," she told him, slowly getting to her feet.

That was the only bad thing about being a Healer, she reflected, never being able to Heal herself. "That sounds wonderful. Thank you, Ethin," she murmured, holding his hand tightly as she lowered herself onto the mattress, which was wonderfully soft to her.

He undid his cloak and placed it on the hook by the door and hastily removed his outer garments so as not to keep Kiae waiting to rest.

"I suppose you may as well wake me up. We should leave as soon as possible and if left to my own devices, I may very sleep all day," she said ruefully, wishing she had the luxury of doing such a thing. She mentally ran through everything she had to do and decided there wasn't much. On impulse, she turned as Ethin came back near her and drew him down for a kiss, smiling.

Professor Inky Esole nodded at Bartello and turned back to Melthin. "Darling, perhaps you should go to bed early. You will need to regain your strength for tomorrow's journey," she said, patting his chest gently. "Will Bartello be staying here or shall he come with us?" Melthin just nodded, to weak in mind and body to comprehend what he heard until it a few moments had gone by. He stood and tried to regain his normal composure of arrogance and sureness yet it was gone along with his weaving. He looked to Esole, finally processing the question as he started slowly for bed. "He would be helpful but I need someone to look after this home...." He hoped she was right, that sleep would dull this voided feeling.

"Now you must sleep. I will join you shortly," Esole said, gently stroking his face.

"Very well..." he said softly as he closed his eyes and started into his slumber. Bartello looked to Esole for a brief moment before turning from his master. "I shall return to my tasks." He turned on his heel and walked out, leaving her to her affairs.

"Sleep well, darling," she said softly before heading down the stairs at out the door. Esole wrapped her cloak around herself tightly before heading across the street towards the nearest inn. She went inside and rented out a room for the night.

Esole woke with a crick in her neck and an ache in her back. She cursed the nightmares that had plagued her all through the night, causing her to toss and turn restlessly. "Blood and ashes," she muttered.
Esole splashed her face with cold water from the previous night and threw on her clothes in a rush. She spared a moment to make sure her hair was in order before descending the stairs with an imperial appearance. She smirked lightly at the fact that only an Aes Sedai could throw herself together so quickly and still look like a queen. As she entered the common room, she scanned the room and picked the table closest to the fire place. It was a good strategic position that enabled her to observe her surroundings.
A serving woman came and took her order. When the food came, Esole ate quickly and left a gold crown on the table before departing from the inn.
Esole crossed the street to Melthin's house. She knocked on the door and no one answered. Esole knocked again and still no response. She embraced the One Power and used a small amount to open the door. After a thorough search of the complex, she failed to find any sign of Melthin or his manservant. Puzzled, Esole sat in the library and awaited the arrival of Kiae and Ethin.
