taisamustang29 6shattered6chandelier6 :...There are worse things...:
And then they still say Raoul is a fop is they read the book, because he cried a lot. Everyone cried a lot in the book, especially Erik.
There was something else I was going to mention, but the little soap opera in this thread made it disappear from my mind... ninja
:...Than a shattered chandelier...: Eh, I'd still call Raoul a fop, but just because he's so... Foppish. In manner and dress. He and Erik are both sensitive, but at least Erik has a manly side... >.> In my opinion. If anyone here likes Raoul... Well, I've got a punjab lasso here. xd ^ JOKENot to be rude, but please do point out where it says in the novel he's acting "foppish." For graces' sake, he risked his life for her and less importantly his fortune. Him being a fop would conclude he wouldn't have done any of those things and just banged her and left like any other pompous aristocrat at the time who was a patron to the Opera (including his brother). Everyone's entitled to their opinions, but it's no fair calling the guy a name he isn't even the textbook definition of.

Raoul's a sweetie. He's always genuinely concerned about Christine, and he honestly can't stop loving her, even though he tries several times. I'm not even that much of a Raoul fan, but he deserves more than alot of phans give him. :/

I've got one. When people say they are a Phan, and know nothing except that the title of the movie is "The Phantom of the Opera", and that Gerard stars it.

Well, I'd say that's a lot of the general population for you right there.

Same thing in my eyes. I've read some pretty disturbing statistics about the decline in literacy among Americans.

I test everyone I come across who says they're a phan. That's how I sort out the inexperienced from the even slightly experienced.
Me: What's the Phantom's name? Them: Um...wth? (Lizzy: Gerard?) Me: You ignorant fool! HIS NAME IS ERIK! YOU ARE NOT A TRUE PHAN! RAAWR!
Or...
Me: What's the Phantom's name? Them: ...Erik! Me: Yay! ^^ *hugs*

Of course, the true tell-all question would revolve around the Persian. Because nobody who didn't know something of the book would ever have any idea what that was in reference to.

That and maybe the mask. Many people perceive him to wear a white mask, even if it's a full one. 3nodding But it's black.

Well it's easy to think that. Just about every adaptation has him in a white mask. Except I think one of the comic books, which I think is the one I own. What's creepier are the ones that give him this very cheery looking face that looks more clown-like.

Charles Dance Erik's masks = SCARY.
Absolutely nothing like in the book. What the hell?
But yeah, what is up with the white masks? They never even look that good.

Phans that aren't really phans..you know, the one that's like OMG I LOVE THE MOVIE! I TAKE OPERA BECAUSE OF THAT MOVIE. THAT MOVIE WAS BASED AFTER MY AUNT. SHE ORGANIZED THAT MOVIE AND I EVEN HAVE THE MASK FROM THE MOVIE I LOVE ERICK! (yeah, one of my friends spelled it like that) Sadly, I have someone that told me all that.
Though, you've already stated that.

It just proves that they're not a beginner. And it also proves that they are familiar with the book, or with people who know the book. If I want phanchat, I want all I can get.
