Elnara laughed at Donovan. "You might be saying it's the best part for you," she grinned, "since you'll be decorating our house - but I say, it's the best for us. We get to relax for an entire year without having to worry about work or problems ... while you and the others have to move everything, decorate, make sure everything feels right, make the manor a home ..."
Her eyes sparkled mischievously, and she giggled softly. "Yes ... I think we have it best," she murmured again.

"There are advantages to getting help and having a bit family," Donovan replied chuckling.
Though he nodded in agreement, he had never had to move into a clan compound before, so he hoped that Daemon had at least the work done on the main house.

Kara rolled her eyes and light whacked Donovan, "He's just being a tease."
She smiled and tugged Donovan's arm a bit.
"But we'll let you greet the others, otherwise it'll take much longer."
And indeed she thought looking over her shoulder there were a number of them. Probably more hugs too.
Kara hugged Elnara one last time before slipping a red pocket paper into her hand and then led Donovan away, allowing the other children to greet. Some hugged the couple, others pounced (if you were Feng). There was the shaking of the hands and a few slipped the paper red pockets into the couples' hands.

Elnara giggled and as each red pocket was slipped into her hand, she slid it into a fold in her dress that doubled as a hidden pocket. She returned hugs to absolutely everyone, even if they had only offered a handshake (which was of course only the more formal of her adoptive siblings) and laughed with most of them.

Next in the still long lineup was Elnara's blood family - the king and queen had already passed, being the first out after Lore and Elnara themselves.
Elrohir and Haradhel and their children were first, followed by Gion and his family, and then Reave Jr., Shea, Mikhail, Rigel, and finally, Ruel and Luthien and their children.
Ruel followed after Luthien (who of course was a cheery as ever), and he actually smiled - faintly, but a smile nonetheless - at Elnara before giving her a light embrace. Then he moved on to Lore.
"I have to admit, I didn't think you could do it at first," he greeted Lore softly in Elvish, one hand out for a shake, "but now I have to say ... I think my sister did right by you ... and I hope you can treat her the way she deserves, not like me."
His expression showed how sincere his words were, though the redness in his cheeks showed how hard this was for him to admit.

That had surprised Lore, he wouldn't have thought that Ruel would feel that way (or perhaps because he had made such a bad first impression), but he smiled. This was a good sign, and as he took Ruel's hand to shake he murmured softly in return.
"I will."

Ruel smiled warmly then, but his flush grew even redder, and he headed off without saying anything more.
The rest of the family passed by then, leaving the couple alone with the king and queen (who had stayed close by).
"Well," Atalya smiled at the two of them, "now there are a few hours before the feast ... Serenity has asked that I take you out to the courtyard for a bit, do you mind?"

He glanced down at Elnara, there didn't seem anything wrong with that, though he wondered why Serenity requested it. Still, there were a few hours left and the courtyard was lovely.
"I don't mind, Elnara?" he inquired, "What do you think?"

Elnara smiled up at Lore and nodded.
"I think it sounds like a lovely idea," she agreed wholeheartedly. She looked up at her grandmother again. "Where is she?"
But just then, Serenity appeared at their side, making Elnara's question unnecessary. She was still wearing the dress she had chosen for the wedding, but now she had her bag under one arm, and she smiled warmly at her parents.
"Come," she smiled brightly at the both of them. "I want to paint your portrait, so that everyone will always have something to remember today by."

Atalya laughed softly.
"Serenity found our Hall of Portraits the other day," she explained to Lore and Elnara, "where we have a painting of every marriage that ever took place in the Aldrich family, ever since our first queen. Serenity wants to paint a picture for the two of you to keep in your own home, and then I will have an artist copy the image so that the two of you will have your own place in the Hall."
Her smile grew slightly wistful. It had been in that very hall - in the old palace, that was - that she herself had first seen what her own mother had looked like.

Lore chuckled, he was... excited by the idea. Mainly because it was Serenity who was going to paint the original picture.
"That sounds like a wonderful idea," he murmured, "And a pleasure to have you doing this," he told Serenity.
It was Serenity after all who drew the first picture of him and Elnara. Even though he didn't have a fridge to put her pictures up on anymore, he still had them up in his office along with her book.

Serenity smiled brightly at Lore, a faint blush gracing her cheeks.
"I would never let anyone else get the first chance," she replied to Lore, her gray-green eyes sparkling with laughter. She reached out and took both of her parents by the hand, tugging them down the hall towards the courtyard entrance.
"Come on," she urged them. "The sun is in the best position right now ..."
Elnara laughed and followed along quickly. "Always the perfectionist," she smiled warmly - but she was proud of her daughter, and it showed in her tone.

Lore somehow knew that to be true as he followed along side Elnara out towards the courtyard. The sun shone down upon them, and he could feel it warming him up. Fortunately he didn't have to worry about burning (or smelling like a coconut) thanks to a concoction that Cinderella Winters had made for him.
Otherwise it might not have gone over so well.

Serenity led Lore and Elnara out to the very back of the courtyard, where a wicker love seat had been set up just in front of a small waterfall. It was lined with roses of every colour, and rose petals floated in the water of the brook that was just beside it.
"There," she smiled at her parents, motioning for them to sit. "I hope you won't have the sun in your eyes for too long ... it should be shifting soon enough ... Mama, you sit on the right, turn towards the center ... and Papa, you sit on the left, put one hand on Mama's knee or something ..."
Elnara moved to sit as Serenity directed, smiling at Lore as she waited for him to join her.

He quietly walked over to Elnara, a small breeze passed through this quiet spot. He couldn't help but smile, there was just so much to smile about today, even more so as he took a seat beside Elnara. Lore put a gentle hand upon Elnara's knee as he faced her.
