*Alex was pensive for a moment*
You know... After we started seeing eachother... I stopped going out with anyone else. I didn't even look anymore. Our relationship is... Well, its hard to pin down exactly what it is, but I realized that I wanted it to be something more than a fling. Something more than a temporary rush. I wanted it to last. I want it to last as long as it can. For that reason, I decided to completely stop seeing other people. I'm not sure what you're looking for in a relationship. I'm not even certain that YOU know what you're looking for in a relationship. But I decided not to do ANYTHING that might jeopardize the relationship as you would might want it to be.

:::Cora paused when she realized what he was getting at. After one of her recent conversations with Luke... about what flirting and dating meant, she realized she had no idea what she was and wasn't supposed to do with other people.
She stopped pawing Alex altogether, and decided to rest her palm on his knee:::
I've had a lot of time to think about that... but I can't pull answers out of thin air about things I don't know anything about. And I think dated issues of cosmopolitan magazine can only tell me so much about my role as your 'girlfriend'. I don't know what you want from me, either... :::looking away::: Or what I could possibly promise you. My place in your life isn't exactly under my control.

*Alex took her hand and kissed it, but also made sure it went back on his knee*
Cora, I love you. No matter what, though, you're right. This can't be construed as a "typical" relationship. But legs, I will wait for as long as need be as we figure it out. And we WILL figure it out over time. We can figure out what we want, what we need from eachother. And you know what? I think that in the course of doing so we might love eachother more.

:::Cora nods... but doesn't look back up at him just yet. It seems she has something else on her mind, and she's taking the moment to figure out how to say it:::
Alex... a while back, you asked me if there was anyone else in the world I'd rather be with. :::She hesitates::: I don't mean to say that I don't love you in return... but I'm starting to think I couldn't possibly have given you a fair answer. I don't have a world.

*Alex smiles and shakes his head*
Well, ouch. But I guess that's fair. Hey. We'll just have to figure it out, right? After all, I can't make you feel the same way about me as I do about you. So lets just take things as they come. Are you okay with that?

:::She nods... but again, something isn't satisfying her:::
I am... but I still don't know what you expect from me. I don't know very much about how the relationships you're used to work. I don't want to... disappoint you, either.

*Alex shook his head. She was just TOO sweet*
Babe, the only thing you have to do for me is love me. That's all. If you were to love me, its all I could ask for. The rest.. we can figure out later. What you're comfortable with, what I'm comfortable with, all that can only be figured out over time.
*Alex kissed her*
And don't worry about disappointing me. I'm not sure that you could.

:::She kissed him back, glad that he seemed to understand. Though she had a bit of doubt in her mind that she could do no wrong. In fact, she was pretty sure that through simply being unexperienced with 21st century romantic relationships, she could do a lot of things wrong:::
:::But Alex, unlike Luke, proved to be a lot more willing to explain some finer points to her:::
What exactly does flirting mean?

*Alex chuckles*
That's nice. Okay... Flirting is what people do in order to show someone that they might be sexually attracted to another person. Its a myraid of things, from the tone in which you say things, to something as simple as a touch. Often times people don't like to simply come out and say that they're interested in another person, so they use these signals to signify their intent to another person.

:::She gives him a sideways glance as though she's unsure:::
So, when Sato tells me flat out that she's sexually interested in me, that's not flirting. That' just... being forward. And Luke accuses me of flirting with him, even though I've also told him flat out, that I'm not sexually attracted to him.

*Alex scratched his head*
Sato? I'm afraid I don't know the man. But the issue with flirting is the fact that the signals can be so subtle and so varied that many times they're misunderstood or even read to be there, when in fact the person had sent no signals to begin with.

:::Cora nods, her eyes rolled up in thought:::
Yes, that would make sense, since flirting isn't supposed to be coming out and just saying it... :::She wonders why people can't just be straight forward about it, but it probably was some sort of a 21st century hang up... or possibly a tradition, that she wasn't about to try and fight all on her own:::
Oh, and Sato's sort of a woman. :::Just to correct him::: Is it true? That heterosexual males are happy when two women have sex?

I... suppose... so. Not all men, but I would suppose many of them, yes. Who... told you about that?

Luke. Of course. No, Cora, its not in the Bible. Not even close. Maybe in his own mind it is.
