Lothiriel smiled warmly and moved to stand behind Miyu.
"Thank you," she murmured. "Though it's more work than it's worth some days. Still, I am grateful for it ... it sets me apart from others, and shows that I am my mother's daughter."
She laughed and began to gently pull her fingers through the child's hair. "As my height makes me my father's daughter," she added with a giggle.
Without speaking, Amdir reached up and tickled the bottoms of his youngest son's feet to try to make him let go. He was rewarded with a double kick to the jaw for his trouble, but it worked - Adonijah released his grip on his father's neck and was left entirely to Ryu's mercy.

"But you're tall.... aren't you?" Miyu asked.
Sure she wasn't as tall as the other elves, but as far as Miyu was concern, Lothiriel was tall. At least to her.
Feng winced at the kicks that Amdir got for helping Ryu, "Amdir, are you okay?"
Meanwhile Ryu held the boy close to him, so he wouldn't drop Adonijah, after all that would not be a good impression for the boy.

Lothiriel giggled at Miyu's question.
"By your standards, perhaps," she replied cheerfully, "but not by elven standards. Look at Arwen. She's still a child, and far taller than I am. Well," she amended, "I suppose she's not quite a child anymore, but ... still. She is quite young."
She split Miyu's hair into three thick strands and started to braid it.
"Your hair is quite beautiful," she murmured with a smile.
Amdir nodded and rubbed his jaw. "Unfortunately," he sighed, "this is all routine by now. Even with Shael and Adonai."
"I just hope their kids don't end up this shy," Aliya spoke up, "considering how shy both of them are with anyone besides each other or us."
Adonijah was curled up in a tight ball in Ryu's hands, his head tucked against his knees, hands over his head, as if trying to protect himself from something. Feeling himself being held against Ryu's chest, he cuddled against him, not looking to see who was holding him.

She would have looked up, but she knew now that would loosen the braid if she did so. So Miyu kept her head as it was, but she blushed at that comment, not used to having her hair commented on so many times. Personally she had always thought of her Mommy's hair being very pretty.
"There aren't that many tall people back home... well Daddy is tall, taller than Grandpa, and Feng and Ryu are really tall or.. long... depending."
"You must have a strong jaw by now," Feng tried not to giggle, it was no wonder why Aliya was hoping that Adonijah will evenually get use to them.
Ryu nodded at this holding the little boy carefully as he made his way back to the breakfast table. He couldn't imagine anyone being that shy, Miyu was shy but she could once pried and convinced to stay with a stranger.
"Poor guy, that must make it difficult on him."

Lin made her way down the stairs, peeking through the railing to see if anyone else was there before making her way to the kitchen. She was sure her Daddy was already there with her Mommy, that or her Daddy was making sure he had everything and her Mommy was helping with breakfast.

Lothiriel smiled as she continued to braid Miyu's hair.
"I'm sure there are many tall people where you come from," she murmured softly. "They just might not seem it once you're used to how tall the people here are."
In her mind's eye, she saw Lin just outside the dining room door, and she smiled and called out, "Good morning, Lin! Won't you join us?"
Amdir chuckled. "Aye, I'd have to say that I do," he agreed, taking his seat and reaching for some food. "But I have to admit, as shy as he is, if he's as good with animals as I think he's going to be, I don't mind it one bit."
"But he should at least be able to be around people," Aliya pointed out. "He can't spend his entire life only with animals!"
At the mention of animals, Adonijah's white blond head peeked up over Ryu's arm to look at his parents, and he uttered a soft pree very similar to one that Tao might make if she were looking for approval.

Miyu wasn't so sure about that, but it was possible... she guessed. She hadn't thought about it like that, but everyone here was tall, that much she had gathered from day one. Ulani and Ulrich were huge to her, but then again she was very, very small.....
Feng blinked hearing something that she would normally only hear from Tao, even though it had been quite a while since she interacted with the loving grififn. She laughed softly at that.
"Someone really loves Tao..."

Lin paused the direction she was heading, turned heel and poked her head into the room the two were sitting in. She grinned brightly at the sight of the two. It looked like there was one more person to add to the list of Miyu's favourite people.
"Morning Miyu, Lothiriel."

Aliya sighed. "Entirely too much," she murmured, watching her son. "He spends most of his time with her, whenever she's around ... she's a blessing, really she is, watching over the children and everything ... but he talks to her more than he ever tries to talk to anyone else, and he's slow in learning to talk properly."
"But we'll see how he turns out," Amdir said softly, watching Aliya carefully.
Just then, Adonijah noticed that he wasn't with either of his parents, and his entire body jolted with the realization. Slowly, he looked up to see who he was with, and when he saw Ryu up above him, he froze, his eyes wide and fearful.
Lothirel grinned at Lin. "Ready for a busy day?" she asked her brightly, finishing up with Miyu's braid and tying it around the bottom. "What do you think you're going to do today?"
She patted Miyu on the head. "All finished," she murmured softly.

Feng watched in a sort of morbid interest to see what Ryu was going to do next. That was the other thing about Adonijah even if he spent a good long while in someone else's arms without knowing it, once he knew it she found he was still frightened of them.
Ryu smiled softly, trying to be as non threatening as possible, slowly patting Adonijah's hair.
Miyu looked behind her briefly and smiled, "Thank you!"
Now she could start her day!

Lin thought about it, actually there wasn't much to think about in terms of what she wanted to do and what she was going to end up doing. Which just about amounted to the same thing anyways.
"I think I'll go see Elros today, besides, I need a refresher in languages... and most of the time he's the first person I see."

Lothiriel smiled. "He seems a good person to learn from," she nodded, moving to sit beside Miyu. "He's rather old, isn't he? He must know a lot ... having experienced so much ..."
Adonijah flinched slightly, his nostrils flaring as he stared at Ryu. His legs and arms slowly unclenched, until his entire lower body was relaxed.
Aliya blinked. "That's ... surprising ..."

Feng smiled widely at Adonijah's reaction, she had thought he was going to cry again, but he seemed fine. Well, as fine as one could be being in the arms of a stranger.
"There we go...." Ryu murmured, "Now that wasn't so bad hmm?"

Lin nodded, recalling how the topic of his age came up a long time ago. She took a seat beside Lothiriel, sandwiching the young woman between her and her neice.
"Yup," she agreed, "He's very old, it was kind of interesting to see him and Sir Valdemar side by side that one time."

Adonijah just stared, his nostrils flaring more and more quickly, but his legs and arms dangling relaxedly. He blinked at Ryu once, then pointed down at the table, his tiny chest heaving.
"I imagine it would be interesting," Lothiriel nodded. "They're both very old ... I can imagine that they would have quite the stories to tell, if one were to ask. I know Sir Valdemar is eager enough to talk ... about most things."
She glanced down at Lin, one eyebrow raising pointedly. "Though he was oddly silent on his beginnings with my family."
