Triton mused on this for a moment, "Hmm... yea, it is a free day, seeing as Mom just went with nearly everyone else to go see Ulani and Ulrich, and Lin.... I don't know, but I think Lin went to see Sir Leith, because she hadn't met him yet."
Which meant that he wouldn't be teaching her at all today, though she seemed to do that well without him when she was here anyhow.
"I'm debating, probably will ask for riding lessons, Tao is different just because she's very accommodating."

Sir Leith blinked down at Lin, his expression suddenly somewhat disapproving.
"Vulgar," he commented dryly. "And I have been informed that this tongue is your mother tongue. If there is something that thou dost not understand, dear girl, the correct and polite phrase is, 'I beg your pardon?' or something in like manner."
He sighed, then knelt once more. "Is there something, young Lin, that thou - you - wouldst wish of me?"
Daeron grinned at Triton. "I would be honoured to teach you to ride," he said warmly. "I know Ahren would probably like to as well, but in this case I'm sure he would make an exception."

She didn't know what was worse, the disapproving look or the fact he was a more complicated speaker than Shiro. That was actually quite saying something, since he was right, this was her language, but it certainly had never heard of anyone talk like this before!
Well except that one time with Halmir, but she had honestly thought he was joking.
Well he was... that was beside the point and she shoved it out of her mind.
It looked to her she was going to have to go back to square one, which meant she was going to have to do the only thing she knew how.
"I'm sorry, but what does vulgar mean?"
Ask questions for course.

Triton smiled at that, he had heard of Ahren teaching, though it took a moment for him to recognize the name. Of course Lin had told him about the riding lessons.
"I would like that very much," he grinned, "If I recall... I think Ahren was teaching Lin the last time she was here."

Sir Leith rubbed his forehead with his thumb and forefinger, muttering softly to himself in High Elven; but a moment later he sighed again and looked back at Lin.
"Vulgar," he murmured softly. "Common ... improper ... at times, rude. To ask a person, 'What?', is quite rude indeed. The proper way to ask a person what they mean would be to say, 'I beg your pardon?' or, as thou hast done, ask politely what was meant."
Daeron grinned right back at Triton. "Well, if you have nothing else that you would rather do at the moment, why don't we get right to it? Just give me a second to throw this stuff into the weapons storage, and we can get started."
And he nodded towards a small storage shed that was next to the ranch house.

Some might be a bit put off by the formal speech and the fact it pretty obvious that Sir Leith was not use to someone like Lin at all. However... Lin was Lin, and that was the way she worked.
Perhaps someone should have warned him.
"Oh.... I see," she mused on this, it would make sense since that is what Skye said all the time, "I think I understand a bit better."
If it was rude, she hoped he hadn't put him off then by saying that, but honestly he caught her so off guard by talking like that. He sounded very formal, she was going to have to learn to talk better.
"May I stay with you for a while? I'll try not to ask so many questions."
She was sure he was tired of hearing questions if he worked here.

"Alright," Triton agreed, "That sounds like a plan."
He had to admit, he wished he had visited more often, it was so... strange hearing Daeron now, even though he knew it was because Daeron grew up.

Sir Leith nodded. "You may accompany me as you wish," he agreed. "And feel free to ask as many questions as you would like. I do not mind questions ... when properly asked."
He beckoned for her to follow him into the stables. "Come, I have work to do," he murmured. "And I must apologise in advance for anything I may say that may confuse you ... I as as yet growing accustomed to the speech here."
It had been centuries after all - millenia, really - since he had had cause to speak the Common Tongue at all.
He started off through the stables towards the back door, the large one that led to the paddock, where the horses spent their days grazing.
Daeron grinned and headed over towards the weapons storage shed, where he hung up his weapons (except for his sword, which he kept on his back). Then he beckoned for Triton to follow him over to the stables.
"How much do you know about horses?" he asked curiously, glancing over at the neko.

"Only a little," Triton admitted, "From what I've heard, or seen, but nothing more than that. One of the reasons why I rode Tao all those years ago is simply that my family doesn't keep horses back home, we never had to."
Between walking, portals and should anyone risk their life and limb, Donovan's van, there wasn't much need for them.

Lin nodded at that as she followed close behind, not wanting to be left behind that is. She kind of got that feeling, though in truth he did speak English very well, it was just.... different. She had to wonder if people used Common Tongue different where he lived.
"That's alright, I'll just ask, it's what I do."

Sir Leith smiled and nodded again. "So I have heard," he murmured softly; "so I have heard. Mistake me not, it is a virtue to ask when you have a question. Many do not, and thus hinder themselves from learning new things."
As they stepped outside, he whistled sharply, and one of the horses came galloping towards him at full speed.
Daeron nodded. "And that, then, is the reason you didn't go with Donovan and Celebor with Celeborn on the hunt, I assume?" he guessed. "After all, if would be ... difficult to keep up with them if you could not ride."

Triton nodded at that, "Yes, Tao would just scare the horses I think, and besides, she is suppose to stay here and, if what Mom and Amdir have talked about is any indication learn to not be as friendly to strangers as she has in the past. Mom hopes to put Tao's guardian traits into use by letting Amdir and Aliya have her, but Tao just likes to be petted by everyone, so she isn't much of a guardian unless the danger is pretty obvious."

He sounded a bit like Elros saying that, Lin dutifully noted as she watched the horse speed towards them. She had never seen a horse come on command, but then again she didn't spend as much time around horses as other people had.
"Well, that's because sometimes it's hard to ask a question... well... depending on the question," she murmured.
She didn't really have that much trouble asking questions, but she wasn't as willing to fire a lot of questions off, she liked to be able to figure out some things.. within reason. She had learned by observation that asking too many questions, might not be a good idea.

Sir Leith put one hand on the horse's neck as it stopped just in front of them, and glanced down at Lin.
"Come, there should be no difficulty in asking a question," he smiled kindly at her. "Unless it is something rude, of course, or unless thou askest questions at the same rate as does Elberon."
He shook his head slowly as he took a rope and fastened it around the horse's nose. "Lady Shael was quite right to lecture him as she did, whatever others may say."
Daeron grinned. "I hope she can keep them safe," he murmured. "I know what Adan went through ... and I can only hope that none of them will ever have to experience something like that again."
Instead of taking Triton to the stables, he led him to the tack house, where all of the riding and harnessing equipment was kept. He walked past rows of saddles, stopping at the far back of the room, where there was a large trunk, and opened it up.

Again? She thought to herself, one would have thought after working with Shael as long as he had, he would have run out of questions to ask. Elberon was a very nice man, in Lin's opinion, but it was true he tended to ask more questions than most would deem sane.
"Ah... I've seen Shael get upset with Elberon," and she added silently she knew for a fact her father avoided the stables for the very reason of asking questions, "I wouldn't want to have anyone upset with me, besides I can't think up questions that fast."
