"Arigato." She added again, kneeling to pick up the thick volumes. Among them were a few interesting titles. 'Myth and Reality, the 'Strange' Coincidence," and "The Art of Upbringing: A Guide to Children," then, of course, "Sightings of UFOs." Aside from these three, the rest seemed to be military records only.

Winry's eyes lingered on the "Guide to Children". Why was Sheska carrying around a book about kids? She didn't have any children... did she?

Minori-chan
There was a crack of thunder and a flash of lighting lit the hall momentarily. Sheska stared out the window with her mouth adjar slightly in wonder.

"Ah... Winry... What are you doing here in central?" She turns her eyes back to the blonde mechanic.

"It's nothing dangerous, is it?!?"

Removing her eyes from the title of the book, Winry looked out the window in awe at the lightning as well. Nature was an amazing thing, at times.

When Sheska spoke again, Winry's cerulean eyes travelled back to the woman. She smiled, and put her hands up in front of herself in a submissive manner.

"No, nothing dangerous. I came by to check on Al --" she gestured behind her to the boy still seated on the bench. "--and now we're waiting out the storm here."

Suddenly an idea struck the young mechanic, and she stepped up close to Sheska, leaning her face toward hers.

"Nee, Sheska-san. Ashtoreth... that girl there?" She gestured lightly, as not to be rude and point. "...she claims that Ed is here... the one they called the "FullMetal Alchemist" all those years ago?" Winry's hands subconsciously clasped near her throat. "...do you... do you know if that's true?"

It was probably silly to ask Sheska... but then at least it would be an opinion she could trust.

...although why someone would trust the opinion of an alien-obsessed bookworm, Winry wasn't too sure.

"Al? You mean Alphonse Elrich? That's him?!" Her eyes gravitated towards the young boy. Her glasses slipped down her nose again and her mouth hung adjar in semi-disbelief.

"I can see the resemblance... He looks just like-" she cuts herself off as Winry speaks again.

"Edo? I heard Hawkeye Chuii and the Brigader General speaking as though he had returned... It would be wonderful to see him again... ne? If he is here, I'll have to tell Glacier-san and Elysia!" Sheska looks up at Winry, her eyes hopeful.

Outside of central headquarters was someone who shouldnt be so close. Resting peacefully as the wind gently flutters the leaves in the tree like a coercing blanket it kept him cool and protected from the elements. Chris occasionally hung out here and hitched rides when a truck left somewhere through several methods. Right now he was just resting though.

His black and silver hair slowly blew across his hair tickling a little but not enough to wake him up. His coat was acting like his pillow at the moment, the silver not reflecting enough light to attract attention at that moment. And one of his arms hanging down but his fingers could barely be seen. His skin was fairly tan and he had a nice medium build.

Restlessly he turns over his stomach on the trunk now.

((uh...chris, honey? you do realize you're 'resting peacefully' through a cold, windy, downpouring thunderstorm that seems to be brought about by unnatural causes...? sweatdrop ))

Winry smiled softly again, nodding. Her eyes travelled to the floor. Her memory had lapsed about the Hughes family for the most part since Ed had left. She made a mental note to go visit Glacier before she and Al left Central. She raised her eyes back to Sheska, smiling.

"It would be great to see him again..." her sentence trailed off in uncertainty. "...and yes. We'll need to tell Glacier-san and Elysia-chan that he's returned... if Al doesn't mind, maybe the three of us could go visit them sometime tomorrow." Her smile widened as she looked at Sheska. She'd rather missed spending time with her.

"Slow down... I need to leave this where she'll get it!" Jayden was growing slightly frustrated with Envy, as she did with all people.

That was the problem with going solo... you generally don't get along with people... Then again, perhaps that's why she and Adine had gravitated towards each other, if even for a short while... both of them were pretty irritable... Adine just showed her annoyance on the outside.

"Well hurry up! I am so SICK of being here. It reeks!" He paced impatiently. Envy stole a glance at the card again. How the hell was this supposed to be a sign for Adine to come to Jayden's? More importantly, how was Adine going to find it?

((o___o Wow, definately completely missed this post beforehand... sorry!!))
Hagane no Alphonse
Al started at the screaming of this woman before Winry and himself, and he wondered who... no, what this person was. She seemed to be as caught off balance as someone who had never seen alchemy before.

Then, the conversations kinda went off in all directions. Al just sat on the bench watching as it seemed everyone but him was engrossed in speaking of things random and yet appropriate.

I never was all that good at small talk. I think I had better just sit back and wait, at least for now. It's not like I know any of these people other than Winry, after all.

Winry glanced over her shoulder at Al again, and shrugged.

Duhh, Winry... he can't see you waving him over in the dark.

Hagane no Alphonse
I did not think Winry had any ties into Central City, much less friends here at the military headquarters. Things keep getting more and more strange. Since I have been here Ash has mentioned Ed being here, now Winry knows this older lady, but she does not seem to have anything to do with automail.

What am I missing?

((XD;; Amused me, for some reason or another. heart ))

Hagane no Alphonse
As things were beginning to look like they might be open for him to speak, Alphonse decided to try to make some inroad into the conversation, but he knew he could not interrupt. That be just be rude.

He cleared his throat to try to let Winry know he was still there, and still awake.

Winry jumped slightly at the sound, having nearly forgotten about Al. She Put one finger up to Sheska, asking her to wait a moment, then walked back over to Al. Smiling, she took one of his wrists, and tugged on it a little.

"Come, I want you to mee..." she paused.

Well... Al has already met Sheska-san... but he doesn't remember... this could be a little awkward...

"...I want you to meet my friend Sheska, Al. She's real nice." Winry leaned forward and whispered near Al's ear, as not to let Sheska hear and possibly take offense. "-- she's a little wierd, but she's harmless, I promise. She means well." Pulling away from him, she released his wrist and gestured for him to follow as she walked back to Sheska.

"She'll come out of that building, right?" Jayden asks, pointing to the HQ main doors.

"Then I'll leave it here..." She places the card down on the ledge of the fountain, directly facing the exit of the building, hoping that Adine would see it when she came out.

Turning, she begins through the trees and scales the wall surrounding HQ in a few swift motions, stopping atop the wall and motioning for Envy to follow.

In a few turns and straitways through the city streets they would reach a broken down area where a few houses were demolished or close to it. One of these would have a rusted bilco door to a cellar that was a little damp, but otherwise comfortable.

((you can skip the act of actually going there if you'd like, Envy-san))

Sheska nearly drops her books.

"Weird? Harmless?! Aaah... Winry! You can be so mean!" She teasingly complains.

"Well, Alphonse... it's nice to finally meet you!" She smiles, knowing that she had to put up an act of ignorance on his part.

"I've heard a lot about you."

He looked up at the old, half-demonlished house that the cellar belonged to. It looked as if someone had attempted to burn it down, only successfully burning most of it. That proves the story. Then he looked to the cellar door, rusted and damp. "It will have to do." He looked around him once more. The ground was bare and where there was grass, it was long dead. In fact, everything was dead. The place was empty.

The place was empty.

Or so it seemed.

No sooner had they locked the door behind them, than a small glow emited from the corner of the room in which Jayden stood. She was pressing a small pendant into a piece of wall before her.

The wall shifted with the sound of working gears and pulleys and she placed the pendant necklace back in its hiding place, the core of a hollowed out book.

"Well? You're not going to stay up here, are you?" The cellar had a small set of stairs that went around a corner.

A strange warmth rushed out of the newly opened doorway, heating the girl's cheeks.

Adine stared into the mug of coffee, watching the black liquid swirl about in the cup. She could just barely see the reflection of her bright green eyes in the jostling fluid, and then lifted her gaze ahead of her to glance toward the lobby. She paused a moment, and a thin smile spread across her face when sound met her ears in the unnerving silence of the hallway.

Ah...so the brigadier general is here... she thought to herself, then snorted a silent laugh. Finally... I was beginning to wonder if the poor junshou lost his way in the dark...?

Just like the brass to take their sweet time to attend to something so dire as civilian trespassers...

The mug of coffee still in her grip, she decided to take a slight detour on her way back to Armony in the lobby, and turned to her right, instead heading away from the center lobby and toward the far hall. Some things, she knew quite well, were best nipped in the bud. The brigadier general was just one of those things. He was a shameless flirt, but he she had ne'er once seen him make a decisive move in a woman's direction.

Her eyes narrowed impishly.

Save, of course, for the dear lieutenant. Riza Hawkeye was, without a doubt, as much the general's weakness as she was his strength. Adine had every intention of using this to his advantage...

Picking up the sway of her hips along with her pace, she hurried over toward the hushed voices in the second hallway.

Her lips curl into a smirk at Envy's humor, and she follows him down, the door sliding closed behind them.

The room they had entered was a rather well lit room, furnished with comfortable sofa's and a single cherrywood desk, littered with news paper clippings.

There was a box labled 'emergency supplies' in which were several food items, a few years old, but non-perishables.

A few tools were hooked carefully on the wall to the right that looked odd and somewhat evil. But that was just the non-mechanic's point of view.

Sighing heavily, Jayden stretched herself out on one of the four sofa's comfortably, unhooking her belt and dropping the sword softly to the floor beside her.

"I haven't been here in a while..." A hint of nostalgia hung in her voice.

Kat heard the now-familiar click of heels in a nearby hallway. She grinned slyly at Riku. "Adine," she whispered. "Let's see what she's up to." Her smile twisted with excitement. Kat definately wanted to know what strange things were going on, and if getting involved meant eavesdropping on a sleezy woman, Kat was willing to do it.

She crept toward the door to the hallway where Adine's footsteps rang, pressing her ear against it. She waited for Adine to get far enough away before silently opening the door. Peeking down the hallway, she saw the swaying of the witch's hips. Making sure no ne was around, she slid into the coriidor and crept after Adine.
