Crystaleye mewed, "I'm going to check the WindClan border again. Perhaps I'll catch a vole or two." She walked near the WindClan border, and stoped. There was a flash of red fur...that cat! She shivered, but then stalked a mouse that had wandered onto RiverClan territory. She leaped, then...jumped onto WindClan territory. She looked up, and mewed, "Sorry, sorry, sorry! I didn't mean to go on your territory..."
The cat meweed kindly, "It's all right. I know you didn't." He pushed the mouse towards her. "I'm Appletail. And you are...?"
Crystaleye replied her name, then scraped some dirt over her kill and walked back to the others. Appletail...

[ stressed stressed stressed things are going so slow and it's driving me crazy. Oh and Sunfeather... nevermind about the patrol.. I'll just send Rainfur out by himself. neutral ]
Rainfur mumbled something under his breath and stalked out of camp. "I'll just check the borders myself." he mewed. Careful not to trip, he jumped gracefully over the piles of snow. He lifted his nose and caught scent of Silvertail, Dampfoot and Crystaleye. Good luck trying to hunt in this weather. I don't even think prey is dumb enough to wander around out here... he scoffed. Upon reaching the border with WindClan he checked the trees, re-marking any that needed RiverClan scent. One of the trees, he could tell, smelt different. "Sandpaw," he whispered. Although the scent was very faint, it pained him to smell his friend on another territory. He quickly re-marked the rest of the border and headed towards the ThunderClan side. Everything there smelt fine to him, so he turned and swiftly padded back to camp.

Ravenfang saw Rainfur trotting back to camp and made her way towards him. "Did you see the river Rainfur?" She mewed.

Rainfur froze, suddenly aware that he was back in camp. He glanced over at Ravenfang with confused eyes. "Of course I saw the river!" he replied, a little too harsh. "Why do you ask?"

Ravenfang held back a flinch at his sharp tone. I thought that if the weather got any colder that it might freeze over...I saw it frosted over this morning on my patrol...

Airpaw sighed and slumped down in the snow, finally finished. There's a lot of snow this leafbare. He thought with a sigh.

Silvertail decided to occupy herself completely with hunting. To keep her mind off of her troubles with her kit. She lifted her nose and opened her mouth slightly trying to find any scent of prey. Any scent at all. After a few moments of this she finally found one. A water vole. She breifly wondered what it was doing so far from the river, but immediately forgot her vague curiosity and dropped into a hunter's crouch. She inched forward. Very light on her heavy Riverclan paws, to keep the snow from crunching beneath them. She got close enough to see the small tidbit and suppresed and expectant purr. She shifted her weight and pounced! Landing with her paws heavily in it's tiny body, killing it before it could even look up. She released a tiny satisfied purr and buried the water vole beneath the snow. She returned to Dampfoot's side and looked at her. "Do you really think we'll find much more?" They had gone about halfway to the river already and had only caught two scraps of prey. A prickle of doubt panged her. She wondered how Riverclan would suffice if the snow didn't melt soon.

Pebblefoot's whiskers twitched. Confirming Owleye's question. She thought she knew. It was actually more than that. She was pretty sure. She trotted out of camp quickly and tried to retrace her steps from earlier so she could find the bush again. She didn't know why she felt so excited over this but the feeling flooded through her, carrying her paws back to where she had found the plant earlier. Her eyes were wide with surprise as she recognized the exact bush she had spotted before. Shocked that she actually remembered where it was, she tugged a snowladen branch free and raced back to camp with it. She hadn't been gone long. She came back and found everyone doing almost exactly what they were doing when she left. Maybe that bush wasn't as far as I thought it was. She thought to herself, Having it close by might be useful in the future. She found Owleye quickly and dropped the branch at the old she-cat's paws and looked at her expectantly. "Isn't this called Feverfew?" She had begun to remember where she had heard this before. It was a long time ago. When she was a kit, she remembered they used to eat it during leafbare. She didn't remember much but certain things stay with you from kithood, and she remembered that she had always been mesmerized by the way the medicine cat used to know each leaf by name and would be able to recognize each one individually.
She perked her ears waiting for Owleye to confirm her find.

Crystaleye rejoined the hunting patrol, two mice in her mouth, and scraped dirt over them.
Owleye brushed her tail over the branch. "Feverfew, yes. Used for cats with fever or chills." She sneezed, a flower petal and flew in front of her nose.

Pebblefoot padded the snowy ground with her paws in satisfaction. She purred. "Thanks Owleye." She picked up the branch in her jaws and carried it to a clear spot on the edge of the camp clearing. She wondered if it would ever come to use. She looked up at the sky, clearing up now, despite the enormous snowstorm they had just had and revealing the beginning of a few dim stars as the sun finally began to set.

Rainfur thought for a moment. "Well, I guess it was frozen a little. But not enough to make it solid." he informed casually. "Sorry for snapping at you. I've got a lot on my mind." he sighed.

Ravenfang relaxed a little. She was intimadated by the slightly older warrior. Want to talk? She asked politely. She hoped he didn't...but she felt she needed to be polite.

Rainfur glanced off into the distance, well aware of the warrior beside him. "It's just..." he inhaled deeply. "...Sandpaw. I don't like it that he's not... here." he mewed softly, embarassed by his weakness.

"Oh..." She hadn't realized that the little apprentice had effected the camp so seriously. "I'm sure he's fine. He's a strong one. Once the weather clears up, I'm sure that Torrentstar will ask you to help bring him back." She realized with a start that that's the most she had ever said to another cat.
