Elnara's eyes grew wide at the sight of her grandfather.
"Neko?" she breathed, her breath hitching in her throat. "What happened?" She couldn't remember ever seeing an elf who had gone gray, even through the war. She stared at her grandfather in shock. What could have happened to make him turn old like that?

Reave blinked and continued to stare at the four of them, the three elves and the one angel.
"Elnara!" he exclaimed finally, his voice cracking with emotion. His eyes misted over as he stepped forward and swept her up into a tight hug and didn't let go. "It's been so long ... so long," he murmured. He raised his eyes once more to look at Lore and Silvrendir again, and he smiled widely, centuries disappearing from his face.
"Thank you, sir," he murmured in a choking voice. "Thank you so much ..."
Atalya smiled at Lin, holding Storm like an infant in her arms. "Only if he can still sleep undisturbed," she replied, "which ... isn't very likely. No, I think it would be best if he slept in a bed ... or something."
She looked thoughtful. "Perhaps he should stay with me until we can find Elnara back agaiin. Then she could take care of him."

"Aww... so Storm is going to take a nap here?" Lin asked though she knew the answer to that, "Is Starr going to stay too?"
As far as she knew the twins were never seperated from each other, so maybe Starr would have to stay as well. Though it wasn't really such a bad thing since they were close to dinner time anyhow.

Lore watched the two embrace though it was, form what he could tell at first very one sided, but it was still an embrace. He couldn't really voice the words, in which to say, that Reave didn't need to thank him. After all he had been blessed to have Elnara with him.

Elnara returned the embrace, finally convinced that her grandfather would be all right.
"Neko," she murmured, "this is Lore. Lore ..." She released her grandfather and turned to face Lore again. "... this is my grandfather, King Reave."
"I feel good," Starr piped up, "but I think maybe I should stay with Storm, just so he doesn't feel all alone. I don't want him to be scared when he wakes up."
He had never woken without her before, and she was well aware of that little fact.

Atalya smiled at Lin. "Yes, they're going to stay with me, then," she said softly. "It will help Storm get back to health as quickly as is possible."
Earendil nodded and passed Starr off to his greatgrandmother as well. "Then we'll see you at dinner again?" he asked her warily.
The queen nodded, and Earendil turned back to Lin. "Well, we have a little bit of time left," he told her with a smile. "What do you want to do?"
Reave smiled again and reached one hand out to Lore, to shake. "Welcome, welcome," he said warmly. "I apologize for being rude when you knocked ... it's been a troublesome few decades. Pleased to meet you, though, so pleased to meet you!"

"Hmm...."
That was actually a good question, she wasn't sure what they could do for their first day back. After all what could she spend her time doing then with Earendil?
"We have been to all places we normally go, is there a place that wasn't here last time?"

Lore shook Reave's hand with a smile, he was relieved that the man was not too upset. Though he guessed seeing Elnara helped that a great deal.
"It's fine," Lore replied, "You were busy."

Reave chuckled softly and shook his head.
"I'm afraid not," he apologized. "I'm rarely busy nowadays, and it drives me mad I only wish I had more to do. I wasn't always an Aldrich, after all, I was raised on hard physical labour ... I used to be a guard at the city gates ..."
He paused, and his countenance grew dark once more. "Of course, that was when we were in a city that had a gate that needed defending," he added blandly.
"Nowhere new," Earendil shook his head at Lin. "Although ..."
He looked thoughtful for a moment, then grinned.
"You haven't been to the city at all, have you?" he asked her. "You haven't been here long enough yet ... would you like to go sometime? Not today, we don't have time for that, but another day, perhaps?"

"Does that mean you were a fighter?" Idhril piped up eagerly, her golden eyes glowing brightly in the torch-lit room.
Elnara laughed softly. "Ah, yes," she murmured. "I almost forgot ... Neko, this is my youngest daughter, Idhril, and the one Lore's holding is my youngest son, Silvrendir."
Silvrendir waved at his greatgrandfather and giggled a bit, but didn't say anything. Then he put one arm around Lore's neck and made himself comfortable in his arms again.

Actually now that he mentioned she hadn't and she had not thought about it until now.
"Ya! I would like to see the city too," she nodded, "Maybe, sometime," she agreed, "Just not now, since dinner will be here and we can't go that far."
Though that didn't answer the question of what to do now.

Lore wondered about why he mentioned that, though if they were out in the desrt they wouldn't need ot guard for a long while. The logistics of invading a city that was out in the desert would drive a person mad.

Reave's eyes softened as he looked Idhril and Silvrendir, and he sighed softly and put one hand on Elnara's shoulder.
"Promise me one thing," he murmured, looking at her pleadingly. "Promise me that you won't fail them as miserably as I've failed my family."
Earendil grinned. "Good. For now why don't we go see Sir Valdemar again? Perhaps you could show him some more of your brush writing? What do you think?"

Elnara gasped. "Neko, you can't say that," she admonished him. "What happened to this family is not by any means your fault! There was no way you could have prevented any of what happened!"
Silvrendir was confused now, and he looked up into Lore's face inquisitively.

Lin nodded almost to the point where it looked like her head might come off, "Maybe if he's not busy he can tell stories."
She liked hearing stories, and there were a lot of good things to know. It was just one of those things.
