Streamjumper I'm thinking of starting my very first ever VS thread... What do you think of BEASTMASTER THROWDOWN! Kiba Inuzuma (Naruto) vs Shido Fuyuki (Getbackers)!!? I'm gonna take a day or two to get the info together for the first post of it, but I think it could make for an excellent VS thread. We should just start some in the AG. That way, it's guaranteed that everyone who posts in it has a brain.

The thing is, Kiba's from Naruto, where godmodding is second nature. If it were a fight between them two of them and what they could do, Kiba's succession technique could easily maul anything Shido threw at him (it's in the more recent issues of the manga in Japan, but if you want to know, highlight the spoilers below). Basically, Kiba combines with his pup into a huge two headed wolf. In that form, they only perform a single attack but it's power is such that it can dent the most powerful defensive jutsu. It's powerful enough that they crash through stone floor like it were nothing.Now, if it's a battle of animal command, Kiba can only really communicate with his pup. Really, it seems lopsided to me, mostly because I don't know if Shido's capable of much outside of his animal control.

Unless that attack is a large area attack or amazingly fast moving it might not actually hit, the chosen defense in Getbackers is typically not to be in the way in the first place. And given your mention of defensive jutsu I'd warrant that it assumes the commonly used (and amazingly un-ninjalike) naruto blocks. Shido is theoretically capable of about a 1000 different transformations since the first part of the title of his moves is "1000 beast transformation: " in the manga its called Beast Mimicry.
Shido's wild card is the insane flexibility offered by his beast forms. So far in the American release of the manga and the entire anime series we've seen Primate Form (beserk strength + claws and fangs), Bat Form (sonar and ability to easily dodge a whip moving at the speed of sound), Wolf Form (speed + claws and fangs), an apparent ability (which may have been an optical illusion) to turn into a cloud of bats like some vampire myths, one that I think was called the Diving Eagle Strike which is invoked mid leap that drives him into a powerful downward strike capable of shattering stone, and a few other transformations I can't remember at the moment. Another possible advantage is his ability and willingness to summon entire swarms of vermin to engulf his foe.
I think that despite the godmodding of the Naruto universe that Shido might persevere... He's one of the few individuals I see as being capable of taking down Mido Ban in an open fight, even with Mido's Jagan being considered. His advantage here is a flexibility in tactics that many of the one-trick-horses among the Naruto ninjas lack totally. Hell, its even possible that Shido's powers could make Kiba's dog unwilling to participate... after all, part of his power is to befriend all beasts and Kiba cannot call upon his beast jutsu without the pup's cooperation.
