[Sorry if I'm in the wrong place. oxo;;] "I don't know what you're talking about, Kagome." Inuyasha smiled mischievously. "All that sleep must be making your brain lazy." He smelled the air, and at that moment, Kikyo entered his mind. Kikyo, who he had held so dearly to him. Never need to say goodbye. Hadn't he'd said those exact same things to Kikyo? Hadn't once, a long long time ago, he'd felt this same, glowing peacefulness? Those precious moments...Kikyo had healed his heart. And that first kiss...he'd never known so much lo- No. He couldn't even think the word. Not with Kagome sitting so peacefully beside him. He knew that she had barely gotten over his episode with Rider. It was so confusing. He didn't want to think about it anymore. "Damn. It's late. I hope they aren't too angry." He stood up, and cracked his knuckles.

Kagome stood, and put a hand on his sleeve, "They arn't....they said they would meet us at Kaede's...." She said, softly, her eyes still filled with a little bit of sadness.
She knew he was thinking of Kikyo, it was to be expected. They were so much in love, and they were set against each other against their will.
Kagome sat back down, pulling her knees to her chest, "InuYasha..." She started, softly, "I....I'm not going to make you chose...if you don't want to..." She could feel a few tears sliding down her cheeks, and she looked to the ground, "You both had so much in common...and sometimes I think that what Kaede said was a mistake...me being her reincarnation and all..."
She looked up at him, smiling softly, "As long as I'm not alone, I'm happy..."

"H-Hey!" Inuyasha waved his arms franticly at her. "Don't talk like that. You're scarin' me." He looked at her and sighed, "Maybe we should just...I dunno. Pretend this whole talk never happened." He sat up straight, and hid his hand in his sleeves. "I mean, it's makin' you go all sentimental and stuff." he added snootily.

"But.....if we pretended this whole talk never happened, I would just feel worse....I had to get it out...." She smiled softly at him, "Every girl has some sentimentality....even me....surprisingly, and sometimes, we just have to show it....but, I thought I would just tell you..."
She stood, and looked up at the stars surrounding them. She started to walk away, but then she turned. "If you want to be alone...I can understand...I just thought I would get it out there...."

"Hm?" Kouga looked to Rider, "I'm sorry...I was lost in thought....what did you say?" He rubbed his cheek, and gave her a cheeky grin, "By the way, did anyone tell you that you poke really hard?"

Rider giggled slightly "Sorry. nones told me that but Inuyasha says i slap hard" she sad with a smile before saying "I was woundering if there was anywere you wanted to go... or maybe we could finish that walk" she said blushing slightly

"Kagome..." he said, in a somewhat annoyed manor, although he hadn't inteded it to be. He scratched the back of his head. What the hell do I say to something like that? I...
"I...I think..." he looked down, and involentarily blushed.

Kagome looked at him, "What? What do you think?" She was growing quiet, waiting fro him to speak, the wait almost growing unbearable.
She saw Inuayasha blush, and she began to blush as well, "W-WHat are you trying to say?"

...That I've been left alone long enough. were the words on his lips, but they seemed to stick to the roof of his mouth. His pulse quickened, and he clenched his fists.
Because not far from where they stood, about forty feet away, Kikyou's soul collecters loomed about, casting shadows on the spying preistess. Inuyasha could smell her. But not only that, he could sense her. He could feel her watching, with her large, angry eyes. And he wasn't sure whether to go to her, or ignore her untill he took Kagome to someplace safe. But it was neary impossible to do the latter, with the smell of graveyard soil hanging heavy in the air.

Kagome knew that hesitation.
She knew it all too well. Kikyou was nearby. She had to be.
"N-Never mind...I'm heading back to the village...wherever it may be..." She felt like her heart was being ripped apart.
She finally turned, and started to run, trying to find a way out of the dense forest. She was trying to stop the tears from flowing, a thing she could not control.
Kagome was lost. She shivered, looking around the dark, dense forest, quickly reaching back for her bow and arrow, realizing she left it.
s**t!
She could feel the prescence of the Jewel...and not exactly in a good way either. She was also defenseless.
She kept trying to make her way through the forest, hoping she was going in the right direction of the village.

"Kagome! Wai-!" Inuyasha reached out for her, but a cold, lonely voice called out for him in the darkness.
"Inuyasha..." Kikyou whispered, by his side in almost an instant. "You love her, don't you?"
"I don't..." he trailed off, "That is, I'm not...quite.." he stared down, and then spun around. "Why did you... Why did you save her?"
"I'm almost apalled, Inuyasha." She said, looking away slightly. There was a tint of sadness in her tone, but it was overflowing in her eyes. "When that... girl saved me, you gave no thought of it. You expected it. I only return the favor... and..." she clenched her fist to her chest for a brief moment, and then turned to face him sharply. "Do you really trust her... love her so much, that you would put her above me?"
Inuyasha was shocked. This was behavior he expected of Kagome, not of Kikyou. Not Kikyou, who was so strong and mighty. Not Kikyou, who had once put everything on the line for a mere hanyou.
"What's wrong, Inuyasha? Why don't you comfort me, like you do that girl? Why don't you embrace me, and promise to remain by my side?" She paused a moment, and sighed inwardly. "You promised to follow me to the depths of hell, Inuyasha. Have you gone back on your promise so easily?"
"So that's what this is, hmm?" Inuyasha wrapped his hands around her arms, and pulled her toward him so that she couldn't look anywhere but into his deep, amber eyes. "I can't tell you that I love Kagome, because I'm not so sure of that myself. But I can tell you why I protect her." he smiled, what seemed to be one of the first real smile he'd worn in ages.
"Because you can protect yourself, but she can't. She might be your incarnation, Kikyou, but she isn't you. Not by a long shot." he held her face ightly in the palm of his hand. "And that's why I can hardly stand the thougt of losing either of you."
And with that, he ran off in the same direction that Kagome had, leaving the dead preistess alone once more.

She was backing up into the darkness of the shadowy forest, red, demonic eyes peering at her hungerily. She could see the jewel, it was above its left eye, but she had no way to get it from him.
InuYasha had chosen Kikyou, not her. Her heart ached, throbbed with pain from what she percieved as a rejection. She inhaled deeply, and fled, feeling the demon advance on her a bit too quickly.
She screamed, and felt herself flying forward, and she crashed to the ground, trying to struggle to her feet.
Kagome wanted to fight, but, she had dropped her weapon when she was abducted before.
She turned, and watched the beast come onto her in a deadly quickness, her eyes set in a horrorstruck stare.

"So, your wish is to protect her then, Inuyasha?" Kikyou sighed, longingly. "Then protected, she'll be."
She lifted her hand, and a large orb of light collected, and several, but not all, of her soul collectors gathered into it. The ball raised high into the air, and then dissappeared out of veiw.

"Kagome!!!" Inuyasha called out into the darkness. No response.
Something was wrong.
