Shyme had no idea what he had been doing for the last four years, so she had no clue what he was talking about. She just gave him a poke in the ribs and teased him.

"Someone's following you? Maybe you should lose the tinfoil hat, dear. I don't think it becomes you. What would anyone want with you besides a good scuffle? And who would want anything else besides me?"

She watched him toy with the bike, and then her playful grin turned a bit down at the corners when he stated chicks were supposed to dig motorcycles.

"..."

She generally wouldn't have cared, but it didn't escape her notice that he had bought the thing long since leaving her, so any chicks who would have been "digging it" would not have been her. Besides he knew she couldn't stand loud noises--this never would have impressed her! She silently considered his motives, climbing onto the bike, and holding onto him around the waist. She spent the rest of the ride holding onto him in silence. The noise from the engine and the wind whipping by made chatter impossible, and gave her an excuse to sit quietly and wonder what he had done in her absence.

The little red sports bike carrying the two passengers sped down the road to Latent, disappearing into the little red spec of the tail light in the distance, leaving the road between cold and empty.

Sometime later, at the Kyonuske safe house in Latent...

Total darkness was pierced by dim light from a door that was slowly, and somewhat forcibly opened, most of it blocked by Silver's silhouette standing in the entry way. A quick flick of the light switch would reveal a small, mostly furnished apartment of sorts, though it appeared none of it had been used recently. The place had been sealed up pretty tight, and there were none of the usual Kyonuske agents to be found. Especially not the one Silver had come looking for, Mitsuyo.

"Well, that's not a good sign..."

Silver quickly glanced around the room for signs of a scuffle. It could have been the work of Victor, or some other villain out to get them, but it was more likely they were all just on mission, or had abandoned the place for somewhere safer. Didn't Latent have an undead problem sometime ago? At any rate, it was obvious no one had been there for some time.

When he was sure it was safe, Silver stepped back and offered for Shyme to enter before him.

"Ladies first..."

The safe house pretty much was just a small apartment, which the usual accommodations and furniture here and there, but it was pretty bare bones and nothing too fancy. For as powerful a clan the Kyonuske were supposed to be, it probably could have afforded something much nicer, but the place was meant to be inconspicuous. It was meant for ninja to lay low in for extended periods of time should s**t go down... like when Victor had first appeared. The clan had also taken measures to make sure the city wouldn't bother with the place, having all it's paperwork in order so it was listed as something else, and no building inspectors or anyone else would come calling. Silver wasn't really sure how it worked, but they were ninja, so they had it covered.

Shyme slid carefully past him and into the sparcely furnished space. It had that slightly musty smell that any place gets when allowed to accumulate a little dust. She looked this way and that taking it in.

"Safe house indeed... This sure isn't someone's vacation home."

She sat down at a table in what appeared to serve as a dining room space, and wiped her hand across the surface of the table, shifting the dust that had come to settle there. She sighed and looked to him.

"Its ahh... cozy. But clearly you haven't been living here. Are you sure its alright for me to be here? I don't understand why we would have to stay in a safe house, and I'm not sure I want to be involved with people who need one! I think its about time you filled me in on what you've been doing for the last four years. Why didn't you ever come back? What are we hiding from? Where do you usually stay?"

She had so -so- many questions, and also so many things to tell him. It was hard to decide where to start, and even more difficult to keep from bombarding him. This would have to do. She idly drew things in the remaining dust on the table near her. She found herself quite fidgety when she wasn't certain she would like what she had to hear. At least she was calm and collected this time.

It is a calm and cloudy day on the banks of Latent. The water plays gently with itself as small waves gently crash and frolic around each other and a soft, gentle breeze wafts slowly through the air. Once in a while, a small patch will open within the white heavens allowing the sun to peek through a shine down in beams upon spots on the town before once again being swallowed by the thick cloud cover that currently hangs over the peaceful yet bustling town of Latent.

The beach itself is as it usually is, dappled here and there with fishermen and small skiffs parked along the sea-edge and around the piers, earning their daily keep. Due to the clouds, not as many people are along the white, sandy beaches enjoying themselves, but still some children chase and play, kicking up the sand and water as they splash about in the innocence of their lives.

Enki Leviathan once again walks through the sands with his naginata attached to his back, a sheath over the blade as there usually in when in public areas with children. Nothing much has really changed about him other then his eyes and his clothes. Gone is the silken, blue shirt and black coat he was always known for having, replaced now with a dragon-scale armor underneath a chest-plate and shoulder pads of toughened, blue leather of some sorts.

The dragon scales seem to sheen and glimmer, looking as though they are wet even though, to anyone who touches them, they are completely dry. The blue leather almost has the hardness of steel, yet moves with his body as any regular leather armor. Wrapped around his waist is a deep blue sash made of some foreign material, the thin fabric wafting and flapping in the wind, the blue changing from a teal do a deep ocean blue depending on what way the light catches the sash just right.

His eyes are no longer the bright blue eyes they once were. A deep azure they remain as they always have, but yet something seems different, almost inhuman about them.

He stops on the sands and gazes out toward the ocean, breathing a deep sigh, his eyes closing as he takes in the scent of the Leviathan Ocean once again, glad to be back in a place he is happy to call home.

The children weren't only playing with the water. As luck would have it, a floating, fox like creature was wriggling about and splashing the little ones with his tail. Him being there meant only one thing, Asherah was around.
Was is luck, or was it fate, or was it some strange coincidence that she was there, just as he came back. Asherah was perched on a rock not too far from where Enki was standing. She looked calm, placid, solemn, alone, her yellow eyes fixed out on the ocean. Her right arm resting over her knee as the other supported her chin, her fingers splaying on her cheek, her lips pursed.

She was wearing what was now her normal attire. A blue corset in sections bound together by black ribbon, black leather pants that had the same tied ribbon pattern down the leg. Her weapons dangled from her hips. Same old Ash, off in wonderland as always, though this time, she wasn't so chipper.

Her thoughts wandered to and fro, betwixt and between the reasons why she was always left alone. Why even though she was in a relationship, she was always left waiting, or left behind. Of all the years she spent searching Gaia for a love that would last, one would think it was her time to have Lady Luck finally smile in her direction. Alas, her lips parted as she sighed, there was no such luck. Skimming her hand through her mess cobalt hair, Asherah tussled it before standing up and dusting herself off.

"Pipee! Let's go!" She called out to her little companion. It looked as if it might rain, after all.

Turning on her heel, Asherah took a few steps before looking up. She froze. Deja Vu? No, this happened once before, however, now the circumstances were different. A dull ache replaced the beat of her heart, her eyes seemed to grey, the corners of her lips tugged themselves down however slightly as her brows sank.

She took a deep breath, and quietly let it out. Asherah said nothing.

Only the ocean could be heard.

Enki's eyes remain closed as he hears the voice echo off of the rocks and the waters of the placid beach.

Antique Queen
"Pipee! Let's go!"

This is not the first time this has happened and it's rather shocking to him that it's happened yet again. The voice is familiar to him, very much so, yet fills him with slight dread at the same time. He has been gone for very long and has not seen a single familiar person in all of that time. He's almost forgotten some of their faces, but some will never leave him. The one belonging to this voice is one of those people.

When he left he never gave an explanation or even a goodbye. He was called and he had to go, there was no other choice to it. He was gone for far longer then he thought he would be, but there was just no avoiding that, unfortunately.

The voice rings in his head. The voice that belongs to his old mate. The same lines that he heard the last time he saw her so many tides ago. His mind is torn on whether he should just quietly walk away and leave or let himself be known, but he knows he can't just leave her as she is. She seems to distant and sad. Is it because of him still or was there another event to bring her to her upset state.

Opening his eyes, the color seems to swirl as he turns back to the rocks to see her facing away from him. The crest of one of the small waves suddenly shatters from the rest and forms into a dozen small, liquid butterflies, flitting up and into the air. They slowly flit and flutter toward the rock Asherah is standing on, fluttering about her body and in front of her face before flitting up into the air to become distant specks of reflecting light.

She would know it's him, for certain. Now he only has to wait for the reaction, be it good or bad.

It felt as if her heart crawled into her throat, an unwelcome feeling. Yes, she knew exactly who it was, and how she was to react, well. Asherah looked down and to the side, shaking her head slightly while doing so. She couldn't believe it, she almost didn't want to believe it. Picking at her nail with her thumb, Ash bit the bullet and turned around to look at him. The guy who left her for nothing.

Her expression said it all, she was less than happy as it were, and with him being there, now she was down right in pain. A feeling nobody wanted, to have put upon them. Asherah slowly made her way towards Enki until she was only just a few feet away. The gravel crunched beneath her boots as she took root in her spot, her arms crossed, her gaze averted.

"You're back."

She spoke in a plain voice, almost emotionless if it wasn't for her pained disposition.

There are no words to describe how he feels about what he has done to her and the look on her face mixed with her disposition definitely does not help the matter at all. He stands looking down at her, his eyes no longer the eyes she remembers. They no longer seem human, but now look as if one it looking into a pool of water, the blue rippling ever so slightly as it grows darker in the center resembling pupils. As he looks down at her, the deep pools deep to grow darker. He keeps his hands at his side as he sighs softly.

"Asherah, I have no words for what I did and I know that nothing can atone for my sudden disappearance," he says softly as he looks down upon her.

"It was something that had to be done and it could not be avoided, though I am terribly sorry for leaving you alone for so long..."

His eyes look away for a moment as if searching for the right words, or the right apology, neither is too certain.

"If you never wish to speak to me again, that would be your right, but all I have to offer is my an apology from the deepest chasms of my heart and an explanation," he continues again, his eyes once again looking down upon her.

Letting her arms fall to her sides, her hand twitched as he spoke. Him even saying her name felt like a needle in her spine. Lip quivering, Asherah took a quick sip of air before finally raising her eyes from the ground. They looked tired. For the moment, Ash merely looked into his dark eyes and remained silent.

Asherah was a person that almost always had a smile on her face. She never yelled to be emotional. She never angered because she wanted to. She hated anger, but sometimes, the poor thing snapped. Stepping towards him, she quickly raised her hand and slapped him across the face with all her sad might, leaving a few scratches in her nails wake.

"Do you know what it feels like?" She spat. "Do you know what it's like to be cast aside like a piece of trash? You left me all alone when I needed someone the most. You know what it feels like to be alone Enki." Pausing, Asherah clenched her fists and shook. "After you left, I found someone else. And guess what happened? He's never around. And I'm left waiting all ******** over again."

Taking a deep, shaky breath, Ash pinned her lips together. She was fighting back the tears.

His head turned slightly as she slapped his across the face, feeling the cool rivulets of blood in small streaks across his cheek. He slowly turns his head back toward her, not bothering to wipe the blood away. He wants to feel the pain he caused her, even if only a minute portion of it. He stays where he is though, his hands remaining at his sides.

"Yes, Asherah, I know all too well what it's like to be cast aside like you're nothing," he says, trying not to spit the words because he, indeed, knows all too well what she's going through. "I know what it's like to be alone for I have been alone without a single soul to talk to for the past year, alone in almost total darkness."

His eyes flit out toward the ocean for a moment, seeming to reflect on something before turning their gaze back on the woman, wishing to Gaea that he hadn't had to do this to her, but there was nothing he can do about it now.

"I am terribly sorry I had to do this to you, and I'm terribly sorry for what has happened since then. If there was anything I could do to solve it, I would, but I know there is not. I know I was gone, but I'm back now and if you wish me from your life, then I will respect that."

Sniffling in, Asherah rubbed her nose hurriedly before shooting her arm back to her side. Her mouth opened, as if she were about to say something, only to close the second after. The words she wanted to say, the sentences she wanted to spill, they all gathered up in the poor creature's throat trying to break their way into voice. Finally, the levee's of pride shattered. Tears welled up and clouded her eyes as her lips contorted into a horrid frown. Parting her lips once more, she finally managed to speak.

"How could I ever wish someone to go away...?" Raising her palms to her eyes, Asherah shook her head and hiccuped. "I feel like I should hate you... But it wasn't your fault... I can't take doing this anymore. I can't take being left behind anymore... I'm at the point in my life where I should be settled in, and happy, and loved, and, and-" she paused to swallow back the complaints and whines, "And... wanted...."

Rubbing her eyes, she let her hands drop to her sides in defeat, her eyes puffy and red.

Seeing his old love like this is more then disheartening to Enki as he watches her weep before him on the cold, breezy beach. Each tear that spills from her eyes he can practically feel inside of himself, listening to her intently as she speaks. What had happened to her in the year he'd been gone? What had happened to his lovely, bubbly Asherah? Without thinking, he pulls the naginata from his back and sets it on the ground beside them before walking up to her and wrapping his arms around her weeping body. His long, azure hair slips from behind his shoulders and frames his face, blanketing the young woman's tear-stained eyes to any passers-by who may be watching. He doesn't say a single word, knowing it's probably best not to and merely holds her to him.

Asherah flinched as he wrapped his arms around her. It was as if it hurt her to feel the touch of another. She was torn between feelings. Half of her fought to accept the act of kindness and melt into his fingers, while the other strove to push him away. The silent battle raged inside her still frame, tears still rippling down her cheeks.

"Maybe I should just go away too. Live my life like I have been.. Maybe this is one big hint that I should just give up trying. Heaven knows I can't have my heart broken anymore Enki... I just can't.."

Sliding her petite hands over his chest, Asherah pushed against him lightly, the affection was too much for her to handle. She didn't know what she needed anymore, and what she'd wanted for all these years always bit her and left her in the dust.

The gentle touch of her hands makes him melt, just to feel the touch of another person makes him shiver softly. When she gently pushes him away, he can feel something inside of him wrench and twist and it hurts more then anything in his life ever has.

"Asherah..." he begins, once again trying to find the words. It is difficult for him to do so after having been in solitude for so long and with the current feeling deep inside his chest, but still he tries.

"I know I was not there for you before and nothing I do could ever take that back," he says, looking down at her again, his face filled with sadness at her words, "but I can promise you I will not do so again. If, for some reason, I'd have to leave again, I will tell you and I will do everything in my power to not leave you alone."

He closes his eyes for a moment and takes a deep breath, catching a hint of her familiar scent in the cool ocean breeze as he lifts his hand a moves his hair from his face to tuck it behind his ear.

"I want to be here for you..." He pauses for a moment. "I want to be with you with all of my heart, even if it means mine will be broken in trying so."

Familiar words fell upon her aching ears, her lips quivered once again. She didn't know if she wanted to hear them, she didn't know anything now. Closing her eyes for a moment, Asherah sucked up her pitiful emotions and sighed out shakily. Upon opening her eyes again, she look up to him and shook her head.

"Enki, I'm... I'm 'with' someone now... Even though he hasn't been here, I can't just do what was done to me. I.." She sighed once more and lifted her hand to dry her eyes. "Enki, I'll need time to think about everything. And I'll probably take a while with it too."

Stepping back, Asherah turned her head and put her fingers in her mouth, curling her tongue back a bit. A whistle, no doubt for Pipee to return. Turning back to him, she looked to him sadly. Deep in her heart, she knew couldn't leave him hanging. Especially with him finally returning, and with his words.

"Listen Enki, do you need a place to stay, or somewhere to set up camp or.. something?" Even in a frenzy of emotions, Ash never forgot to be her old charitable self. "I have a place over in Gambino with a spare room... I can't go if you don't have a place at least to stay."
