Maaaaybe I'll get a new Cadian battle force when they hit the shelves, see if they can spark some real interest in a Guard army.

If I had to go a certain unique direction I'd go with Elysians! sweatdrop I've seen them up close and they look spanking good, especially when paired with those plastic Valkyries.
Bad Blodwynn, bad. crying
I'm going to give regular Cadians a try, see if they can do it for me. Elysians are way out of my price range.

I think the navy idea me and Mac have been hitting on recently could work out well. I mean these are the units we've come up with so far
Press Gangs = Penal Legionaries Armsmen = Regular Guardsmen Petty Officers = Officers body guards Boarding Party = Storm Troopers Chief Petty Officers = Veterans Ships Commissar
maybe chimeras modeled to look like assault boats

Veterans can also get carapace along with shotguns, so you can get a lot of heavy armsmen in your force.

Veterans need to pay for the carapace, 30 points if I remember correctly. It allows them to choose a "doctrine" that applies to the whole squad. You've got Grenadiers which gives them carapace, something that gives them camo cloaks (like marine scouts) and something that allows them to move through cover.
And I'm not Tank Girl! sweatdrop

haha you should have seen regular games at my old haunt flyers were not so uncommon. In fact your army pretty much had to pack one non standard thing to fit in
