Talk about having it bad, Lin nodded at this.
"I'll talk to her, but I'm making no promises."
Really relationships (or other people's relationships) weren't her strong point, that was more her mother's territory.
"All I can really do is try and convince her avoiding you isn't going to solve anything."

"Anything would be helpful," Daeron said softly, passing his hand over his face slowly. He looked at Lin, and his entire demeanor had changed. Instead of sitting straight and tall as he usually did, he was slouching now, the stance of a man exhausted and defeated.
"I'm grateful for any help you give," he added sincerely. "Anything at all."

"I'll see what I can do," Lin promised.
Though she wasn't promising any changes, because frankly she didn't know what to make of this.

"Thank you." Daeron reached out and took Lin's hands in his own and squeezed them slightly. "Thank you."
Then, as abruptly as he had taken her hands, he let them go again and rose from the chair he had been sitting in.
He exhaled slowly. "I need to walk. Forgive me. I'll see you again later."
And with a quick bow of the head, he strode out the door, running his fingers anxiously through his hair.

She watched as he walked away and couldn't help but sigh once he was gone. That had been far more complicated than she had expected. Getting up from her seat, she couldn't help but ponder the problem a bit as she made her way back to the room she was sharing with Earendil.
She would talk to Iorlas, but not yet. This wasn't something she wanted to rush into because while she was her mother's daughter, she was also her father's and her father had the emotional tack of a brick.

Earendil and Andarien were sitting on the floor together, playing with the building blocks that he and Lin had bought for the boy in Chansond'eau. Earendil was talking to him in a mixture of Common Elvish and Common Tongue, sandwiching the two languages together so that Andarien would understand the Common Tongue.
When the door opened, Andarien beamed up at Lin. "Nana!" he exclaimed. He pointed at the stack of blocks. "Look! Me and Ada are making a tower!"
Earendil chuckled. "I think we should ask Ulrich to make him a game of Towers, the game that he made for Aliya and her children. He's got a good handle on architecture."

"There's a thought...." Lin nodded in agreement, "And how is the language learning coming?"
For a moment she wouldn't talk about it, not now. She smiled fondly at Earendil, and was grateful more than ever for people like her grandmother, even if she would have never suggested the method to anyone else.

Earendil grinned at Andarien. "Show your mother what you've learned," he urged him.
Andarien looked up at Lin. "Um ... Ada help ... tower ... up build!" He spoke his words with a strong accent, similar to what those in Gaia might call British.
Earendil chuckled. "It's coming. But for a half hour lesson, that's not too bad, I think."
Andarien gave Lin a thumbs up. "Good!" he said in English.

Lin chuckled at that, thinking that Andarien had such a cute accent.
"Very good," she nodded in agreement, "You're a quick learner."
Which wasn't surprising really, there were few fast growing children that weren't fast in learning.
"And best of all it looks like you're having fun."

Andarien grinned at Lin, his violet eyes sparkling brightly. "I have to help Ada, he doesn't build good," he told her. "He makes things so they're going to fall."
"I don't know how he picks those things out," Earendil admitted. "But he's right, I've knocked it down three times when I put pieces where he said I shouldn't."

Now that was interesting, and she was sure it wasn't like Earendil made it obvious.
"I don't know what to make of that.... it sounds like someone has a talent for building alright."
Which, when Lin thought about it wasn't surprising. There were times when stage growing children developed preferences at a young age. Look at Yue and Yukito.

Earendil chuckled softly. "Indeed so. And how is Daeron doing?"
He moved to put a cylindrical pyramid on top of one of the blocks, but Andarien pushed his hand away. "Not there, Ada," he frowned. "You'll knock it over again!"
He took the piece from Earendil and set in on a different part of his structure.

Lin chuckled at Andarien before looking more serious at Earendil's question.
"He's aggravated, apparently he and Iorlas have not talked since that confrontation with Ioreth and it is wearing on him. I don't need to tell you he is very fond of Iorlas...."
As in he loves her, Lin didn't mind that but she had no idea how she was supposed to talk to Iorlas about it yet. Maybe she would just wing it.

Earendil watched as Andarien continued to build his fortress, and once again he was glad they'd gotten the large set of blocks for him.
"I can't see that being voluntary on Daeron's part," he murmured quietly. He glanced up at Lin. "Do you think talking to him helped at all?"

"Not really," Lin replied, "Because he's tried his best to talk to Iorlas and she's apparently been avoiding him."
She paused for a moment to watch Andarien.
"And so... I'm going to talk to her, a bit outside my area of expertise."
Considering her grandmother had called her repressed at one point.
"But at this point Daeron is willing to try anything, he really is at his wits end."
