And they're still only S3. razz
Plus in the fluff if a lasgun is put on the highest energy level it can even blow the head off a chaos terminator, I belive it was in one of the Gaunt's Ghosts books where someone blew the head off a chaos space marine, but imperial guard's aren't allowed to use their guns at that energy level.

Well, no. Shinobi, the kind of power that you're talking about isn't from a Lasgun, even a Mars pattern Lasgun. It's from an Abnett pattern Lasgun. Those things are crazy as hell. Seriously. They could probably be used in place of Meltaguns in a pinch.

Could you guys please take things with a pinch of salt and wait until the actual codex is there before bemoaning every new thing about it? You need more piss and vinegar if this distresses you so much, pardon the expression. sweatdrop
From the look of things GW is actually making the IG good at what they do: dishing out large amounts of fire power that make assault armies rethink their usual "plow into enemy lines as fast as possible" ploy. I find this a welcome idea, seeing as the 5th edition is mostly dominated by assault thus far.
The things I hear so far are really tempting me into starting a Guard army, with plenty of Valkyries and platoons of men. surprised

Hm...the last bit of conversation didn't have much piss and it hardly had any moan. Oh well.
What's great is that this army is going to allow me to do one thing that I've really wanted to do: A Commissary strike force, something kin to (Terrax?) or possibly equatable to a Mordian army. High discipline, tight ranks of firepower, and lots of character.

At least ill have a reason to wear my Stetson after I get out of the Army

Thought I hope it's hella expensive! Eh most of my mates collect power armour.. I prefer the punisher anyway, and with my motorised gatling gun coming, I already have a sweet model for it biggrin I build one of everything anyway, so no dount the Eradicator will have a place in my army.

@ Mat: You got it absolutely right. It's going to be a force dedicated entirely to raiding enemy food supplies.

Her Majesty's Buxom Commissar Boxes Cadian Command Squad (plastic) Catachan Command Squad (plastic) Imperial Guard Valkyrie (plastic) Imperial Guard Sentinel (plastic) Blisters Imperial Guard Ratlings (metal) Imperial Guard Primaris Psyker (metal) Imperial Guard Regimental Advisors (metal) Imperial Guard Lord Commissar (metal) The two troops boxes don't count as they are not new releases, being straight re-packages of the same sprues... albeit less models for more $ per model. GW never count such re-releases as new products in their promo lovefests. And a slight further clarification on the release dates, from April's White Dwarf: May 2nd: Codex Imperial Guard Cadian Command Squad Cadian Shock Troops Catachan Command Squad Catachan Jungle Fighters Imperial Guard Valkyrie Imperial Guard Sentinel Imperial Guard Ratlings Imperial Guard Primaris Psyker May 16th: Imperial Guard Regimental Advisors Imperial Guard Lord Commissar Imperial Guard Cadian Battleforce Imperial Guard Catachan Battleforce

Sorry to butt in with a question but...
Is there anything stopping a Death Korp. of Krieg army from using a Lord Commissar as its commander? I don't have any of the rule books available right now so I can't look it up for myself, though I honestly don't remember anything allowing or refusing it.

I don't have any of the rule books available right now so I can't look it up for myself, though I honestly don't remember anything allowing or refusing it. It depends on the army list you are using. If you are using the upcoming codex list then there should be no problem fielding a Guard army with a commissar lord as a Death Korps army. If you are using the list found in one of the Forge World publications then you are sadly out of luck. And from what I have heard in the new codex the command platoon is still required when fielding an Imperial Guard army. The only thing most special characters do is replace the commanding officer. The commissar lord and primaris psyker for that matter are both optional HQ choices.
