Whether it was a good idea or not remained to be seen. Whatever the outcome, he could finally put this whole mess with Kieran behind him. He could go on not worrying if he was alive, taking care of himself, had a roof over his head. He could say goodbye to all of it. As they sat in silence, Jakob ate his food quietly. He still felt as though he had made Abel angry by bringing up Kieran so much and wondered what he could say to make him feel better. Setting his burger down, he grabbed a napkin and wiped at his hands and face. "How's your food?" he asked, making another attempt at small-talk.

Abel didn't understand Miguel's need to see or speak to Kirean. He hadn't talked to Miguel about Kirean previously because he didn't think it would make a difference. The past two years had been different for all of them. Each of them were in their own headspaces. He continued to eat though the food was hardly satisfying. Abel watched as Miguel set his food down to wipe his hands and mouth. He soon heard Miguel question him. Abel didn't mind the question, "Good, yours?" He asked to be polite.

Jakob could only imagine the type of headspace both Abel and Kieran had been in these last two years. Abel had kept his text so brief, that it was hard to know how things at home were going. Even what he had told him before they got here was limited. Still, it didn't sound good. Nothing had been good, he knew that much at the very least. For Jakob it was different. Being so far away he had no more crime, no more mob bosses, he was free to live and do as he pleased. He almost wished that both Abel and Kieran could do the same, but, he understood that it wasn't so simple. Nothing about that world was. Jakob continued to eat a little more before setting the burger aside and questioning the male. He smiled a bit as Abel answered him politely. Even if it was a fake answer, he appreciated it all the same. "Mm, I like it." he replied. Picking up a fry, he dipped it into the ketchup and swirled it a little. "Do have enough to eat? We could order something else if you like."

The life they lead was only due to Abel's choices. Kirean didn't have to follow but he had. He didn't know how to leave his life. Abel was beyond other tasks. While Miguel could easily leave and get a job. Abel responded in kind not wanting to be rude. He listened as Miguel spoke, soon questioning him. Abel thought about it as he wasn't entirely happy with his burger even though it's what he wanted. "Mm, I wonder if they have milkshakes." He commented about the need for a possible dessert.

Given the choice, he had to wonder what sort of life both Abel and Kieran would live. For Abel, he couldn't really imagine him doing anything but what he was doing now. He didn't seem the corporate type or one for retail. He honestly didn't know what sort of nine to five would fit him. As for Kieran, he could probably stand to have some sort of outlet. Something either physically demanding or creative. Whatever kept his temper in check. It was a shame no such reality could be true for them. Despite leaving that past life, he missed having them in his life.

Changing the topic towards food, he was glad that Abel was enjoying his meal, even if it was a lie. He then inquired if he wanted more. In response, Abel commented about wanting a milkshake. Jakob rarely ever got dessert so he wasn't sure of their options. "Possibly. If we can get the waitresses attention, we can ask." he replied. He didn't mind if Abel wanted to tack on a dessert to the bill. He was more than happy to pay for it.

Abel couldn't help his want for something more. He had wanted to enjoy his burger but he wasn't happy with it. Not because it was bad but because he no longer wanted to eat it. Abel hoped perhaps they had milkshakes though by Miguel's words he wasn't hopeful. He wasn't set on such things if they didn't have it. Abel saw their waitress at a nearby table and waved his hand in hopes of catching her attention.

As bad as it sounded, he was kind of used to Abel giving up on his food halfway through a meal. Out of all the times they had shared a meal together, he could recall only a handful of times when he would eat until he was finished. It seemed to him that a lot of times his mood would affect whether or not he wanted to finish what was in front of him. It was an odd habit, but one he did not question. He was sure that Abel had his reasons. When Abel inquired him about dessert, he wasn't entirely sure. Most days Jakob did not eat dessert so he wasn't too familiar with that side of the menu. Mentioning their waitress, he watched as Abel soon waved a hand as he looked past him. She must have been behind him. It wasn't long before she came over to their table. Beneath her arm, she carried two menus and in her hand was a pad. "Yes, how can I keep you?" she asked sweetly.

Indeed it was a strange habit however one he really didn't notice. Abel didn't understand such reasons for not eating dessert. He wasn't big on sweets but he was in the mood to still curb his hunger. Abel caught the waitresses attention who soon came over to the table. "Um, yes…I was wondering if you served chocolate milkshakes…I didn't really look before on the menu.?" He asked curiously as questioned the waitress.

Whatever his reasoning for the strange habit, it wasn't that big of a deal. He didn't mind if Abel wanted to get something else instead of what was in front of him. Either way he would still pay for their meals. After grabbing the waitress's attention, she soon came over to see what was needed. Jakob glanced towards Abel, who asked her about milkshakes. "Ah, yes. We do have chocolate milkshakes...but if you'd like to see our other options, I have a menu right here." she replied. Adjusting a bit, she pulled one of the menus from beneath her elbow and held it out in offering. Jakob looked between the two while he continued to nibble on his fries.

While he didn't have money at the moment, he would need to in the future do a currency exchange. He couldn't expect Miguel to pay for everything while he was here. Abel was thankful for his offer to pay for their meal. He was probably being selfish by ordering more food. Abel questioned the waitress who commented holding out a menu. He shook his head, "No, that's okay…Just the chocolate milkshake." Abel responded not needing to review the menu.

It didn't even occur to him that Abel wouldn't have his own money at the moment. If anything, he thought that he would likely use a credit card for any future purchases. But perhaps even that wasn't an option. In any case, he didn't mind paying for their meals. After this was a special occasion, it wasn't every day that Abel was in town. He didn't care that it was because of a totally different reason. He could worry about that later. Across the table, Abel continued to ask about his dessert options. The waitress reassured him that they had his flavor and offered to let him look over the menu incase he would like something else as well. Nibbling on his fries, Jakob watched the male shake his head and reassure her that that was all he wanted. "Alright, I'll get that right out to you." she replied, taking back the menu. Walking away once more, they were again left in peace. Jakob finished another fry and moved on to take a sip of soda. He was slowly making his way through his meal. He was glad that Abel was able to get something else that he liked. He didn't want him to starve the rest of the night.

Indeed he had credit cards though sometimes cash was better. He reassured the waitress as she soon left to put his order in. Abel returned his attention to Miguel who was quiet across the table nibbling on his fries. He couldn't help but tap Miguel's foot with his own. The silence was starting to weigh on him. "What are you thinking about?" Abel asked curiously as he pushed his plate aside. He crossed his arms and leaned against the table.

True, cash did help make things easier while overseas. No doubt the first payment Abel would make, he was likely to receive a call to confirm that he actually in Germany. It made sense that he would want to exchange his money as quickly as possible. Jakob made a mental note to look up the nearest exchange later. In the mean time, he continued to nibble on his fries while Abel ordered his dessert. He had just popped another fry into his mouth when he felt another tap on his shoe. Looking up, he heard the males question and sighed. "Everything." he answered. "It's been a weird day...I still can't believe you're here." While he spoke, Jakob watched as Abel pushed aside his plate to lean against the table. Despite his words, he was glad that he had come all the way out here. He didn't want to think what sort of mess he would be in if he hadn't.

Abel couldn't help but question Miguel. He found them silence weighing. Abel was used to his own silence though with Miguel it seemed daunting. He wasn't sure if he wanted to know what was on Miguel's mind but he couldn't help but ask. Abel though hoped it wasn't about Kirean again. He watched as Miguel sighed and gathered his thoughts a little. "Hmm, I'm sorry I didn't come before." Abel commented as he knew that Miguel had offered before and he had declined.

He tried not to think too much about the lingering silence between them. He liked to blame it on other factors such hunger and lack of sleep. But he wasn't sure for how much longer those excuses would last. He didn't mind when Abel took another shot at small talk. It was nice to see him trying even though he knew he wasn't the most talkative person in the world. When he asked about his thoughts, he did his best to summarize them. He could tell that Abel was tired of Jakob going on about Kieran. However he couldn't help having him on his mind, the man had been occupying a space there long before today. He supposed Abel didn't need to know that though. Jakob listened as Abel went on to apologize about not coming sooner. It seemed a little strange to do so now and it wasn't as though he didn't know how hard he worked. "It's fine. You're here now." he said with a small smile.
