You know...I have to agree with LJ. Mainly on the basis of I'm helping to raise these kids as well. And on the other hand, I've been watching stuff with a grey area since I was a VERY young boy. It's ******** me up. No lie. I'll be the first to admit that.
I may not like Disney films, or agree with the messages. I do agree that the situations are recycled and rehashed, but sometimes, children need that uplifting experience. In this day and age when children that are both my daughter's ages are being abducted, raped, molested, killed.. They don't need to know about that right now, if ever.
And being that I've had a relationship where an ex of mine's daughter WAS going through something like that....I see what it does to children first hand, that kind of abuse. In some ways, kids need to be somewhat sheltered. Not through their whole lives, persay, but until they can either comprehend WHY things like that happen.

well...if you read teh ORIGINAL fairy tales that the movies come from, then there are a lot of inaccuracies. Little mermaid, Sleeping Beauty...both of those did not have a happy ending in the original text...>< but i agree with you completely. Disney is made for families, not necessarily to enlighten the kids in some way. I dont think there is a single girl who didnt grow up wanting to be oen disney princess or another. Disney movies have become part of childhood almost. -nodnod-

Oh yea, I used to read the original Grimm stories... they are seriously ******** up. I don't think I would be sharing those versions with Noelle for quite some time wink

exactly. If i had to chose between showing my kids a version of the little mermaid with a happily ever after, and a version where they cut her fish tail open and leve her on a beach to bleed to death....ill choose the happily ever after. >>''

yeah... at nine kids usually have their first goldfish pass away...
some times it's a little worse than simply that though.

I loved Disney movies when I was little...and I still do. They're just...happy things. Disney in general is a happy thing. I can't wait go to Epcot in December. -dances-
And oh yes, Brothers Grimm, very out there. I have a book of their fairy tales...that my grandmother read to me when I was little. ._.

My dad had a copy of the book and I'd read them while visiting. I think I have a copy of them myself somewhere... yea, they're a bit... yea.

I'm heartbroken... Ziggy died.
I felt flushing him wasn't the best answer so I put him in a toothpick box and burried him... a little over the top but... he deserved more than a stereotypical flush. His grave is in the backyard and it's marked by a stone slab and a finding nemo toy.
Ziggy didn't adjust well and was bullied by Dart. He stopped swimming around yesterday and just sorta sat there... Now that I look back on it, Dart and Ziggy were trying to show me something was wrong but I guess I'm too inexperienced to notice those types of things.
I don't think they've been eating at all. I need to fix that. I'll go across the street to my neighbor who has sucessfully raised 2 clownfish and a few tangs and ask him questions....
I feel like I killed my kid... seriously... It's stupid it's jsut a fish but it means a lot to me. This tank symbolizes my future... I either sink or swim... and I suppose there'll be rough spots as always but... Dart is still alive and living up to her name...
what's it matter right? It's just a fish.... life goes on...

Sometimes having an anemone will help. I know a friend of mine got one to help her clown fish adapt to the environment more.
Goddamn, people in the avatar arena have the most rediculous reasons for marking you do. today I got: angels don't have dragons... so 7. Seriously? Frickin tool.

Seriously, the kid had shorts, a blue peasant shirt, angelbow, and some boots. WTF?!?!

I did have a funeral... with me myself and I cuz I knew him best and everyone else wasl iek *looks* cool.. *leaves*
and yes I do need an anemone LJ but the people said put the fish in your tank and then add the corals and anemones. And they also said they don't need an anemone.
I guess maybe I should've gotten my clowns last instead of first xp
