Miyuki smiled brightly, "Alright! I know Amalirahc is already playing."
Which didn't surprise her in the least, he needed to be active.
"I'm probably as much in the dark how to start him out," Lin murmured wryly, "I grew up ready to eat solids."
And so there wasn't anything she hadn't tried, but Lin did her best. When the server came around she ordered some lunch, which included a some veggies both raw and cooked to see what he would prefer.

River giggled. "That doesn't surprise me. He's always playing."
After Lin had ordered the food, Arthael leaned forward slightly towards Lin. "If I may say so," she said softly, "Andarien's got all his teeth now, and he's been eating solid food since he grew. I really don't think you will have to worry much about what you give him to try. He's not exactly starting out."
If he'd been in his previous stage, then she would have agreed, but he was the equivalent of a pre-schooler, in Gaian terms (not that she would know that).

"Well he has a lot of energy," Miyuki replied.
Which made her look calm even though there were days even she was bouncing off the walls, it was just she didn't do that as often as he did.
"True...." Lin mused looking at Andarien, "Oddly enough, even though it hasn't been that long since Miyuki was little, I don't remember what we did with her, but then again she grew to be hold enough to eat properly when she was in Gaia and we had been staying in the Borderlands on her growth before that..."
So it was much easier than traveling.

"You can say that again," River grinned.
She was feeling a bit better now, and she looked more relaxed, too. "Do you think I should bring my ball with to play?" she asked Miyuki. "Or should I just leave it in here?"
Arthael chuckled softly. "Well, every child is different, too, but I heard he ate the core of his apple so hard foods can't bother him much."
Andarien was still blinking up at Lin, and, more awake now, he shuffled to sit up in her lap. "Nana ... did we stop?" he asked her through a yawn.

Miyuki thought about it, "I don't know..."
She didn't get a good look of what the other children were playing.
"Maybe just leave it here for today," she finally replied, "They might not even being playing ball, maybe they like to play something else."
"Yes, we stopped, we just ordered lunch," she told him quietly.
She glanced over at Arthael though with a smile because it was true, Andarien did eat the core.

"Okay," River agreed. "I'll do that."
They were interrupted when their food arrived, and their server set it on the table for them.
Andarien's sight was still a bit fuzzy, and he had to blink at what was being put in front of him. Of course, he didn't actually recognize most of it, even when he did see it clearly.
"Nana?" he asked. "What's that?"
He pointed at the food in front of them.
Earendil chuckled softly to himself. This was going to be an interesting meal, he thought.

It was then Miyuki remembered that she was hungry (she tended to get distracted pretty easily). She waited for the food to be set down before helping herself. She wasn't sure if she wanted cooked or raw veggies though, she wasn't really a fan of veggies to begin with but she knew she wouldn't be able to get away with not having some.
"Well those are carrots and celery that are not cooked, and those are potatoes and corn which are cooked," she pointed to each.
And she went on to describe the other lunch foods that were there.

Andarien didn't know the difference between cooked and not cooked, and he was so tired that at the moment, he didn't particularly care. He reached for his fork, but he was still half asleep, and he fumbled with it, dropping it onto the floor.
Earendil reached down and picked it up for him, but instead of giving it to the boy, he put it back on the table. "Try the celery and carrot sticks first," he suggested, pointing at the slices. "You don't need a fork for that. Maybe if you finish those you'll be awake enough for the rest."
Andarien yawned again, but it was only a slight yawn this time. "'Kay," he murmured, leaning forward. His fist closed around one of the carrot sticks, and he put it into his mouth and bit off part of it. He chewed it for a while - and chewed and chewed and chewed - and finally, he swallowed.

Now that Miyuki thought about she didn't mind those cooked veggies at all, and she did like corn and potatoes were okay, but raw carrots and celery were the best (she wasn't fond of them cooked). So she took a bit of each before settling in to eat the rest of her lunch.
"What do you think?" Lin asked even though she could tell he was half asleep so it was hard to tell how much of that he tasted.

Andarien looked up at Lin through sleepy eyes. "S'good," he told her, his mouth still full, "but it's a lotta work."
Of course, he was still half asleep.
In the end, he ended up eating some of everything and liked it all, and stopped eating only when he was full. His favourite was the potatoes - after he'd spilled a bit of mead in them.

After lunch they needed to decide what they were going to do. Miyuki of course was going to go off with River. Lin wanted to see how Andarien was faring (awake he was). Now that Andarien was at the age to learn she was wondering if perhaps she should start teaching him Common Tongue before they head back to Gaia.
Which was a long ways off but better sooner than later.

Earendil picked up a napkin and wiped Andarien's face. "Did you still want to talk to Daeron, Lin?" he asked her. He glanced over at the place where Daeron had been sitting before, and sure enough, he was still there.
Andarien followed his gaze. "Does Ada-tol want to play?" he asked brightly, much more awake now that he had food in his belly.

"I'm not sure if he's in a playing mood," Lin told Andarien.
Though with Dareon it was hard to tell for her, even though they had been traveling together for a while, in all honesty she didn't know Dareon as well as say Elros or even Halmir and Arthael.
"But I would like to talk to him."

Andarien pouted at Lin. He wanted to play.
Earendil chuckled. "If you'd like, Lin, I can take Andarien somewhere so you can talk with Daeron without interruptions. I'm not sure how still he's going to sit otherwise, but it's up to you."
Honestly he would like to talk with his brother as well, but he had to admit that Andarien was quite fidgety when he was awake.

Lin chuckled and petted Andarien's hair, "How about you take Andarien and start introducing him to Common Tongue, we do need to start sooner or later, preferable sooner since eventually we'll be heading to Gaia."
And he needed to know before they went to Gaia, very few people knew elvish in her family.
