"I'm not quite sure what happened either. All I know is that someone attacked Moreau's fiance." He couldn't recall the person's name. "The people who attacked her are stuck outside the village and no one is allowed to help them. If anyone tries to give them anything, that person will also get kicked out."

He pushed his tray off to the side. "Black-out?"

There was an attack on Moreau's fiance? What did they hope to achieve from that? Maybe they wished to barter for freedom. But Moreau didn't seem to care about anyone more than his work - not even one to whom he was engaged.
"Yes. It occured a while ago - in March, I believe. All the power on the Island was shut down, and we were all cast outside to fend for ourselves." She recalled waking up in Ian's arms, neither of them properly clothed. And Julian, the Cheshire Cat. Much had gone on in that short time, and much had changed.
She absent-mindedly touched the scars on her cheek, but did not seem distracted by this motion.
"Then it was indeed very dangerous, for there was nothing to stop the predators from obtaining their prey."

Lucas didn't pay much mind to her hand moving to her face. "He just kicked everyone out?" He wondered what for. His first guess was that it had been a test, seeing as how they were experiments. His dislike for Moreau continued to increase. Would their be other tests like that?

The mention of prey worried him, but he couldn't bring himself to inquire further. "That must have been hard."

"I do not know exactly what happened. But we certainly did not end up where we did by accident. But there were rumors that the Doctor was not even on the Island."
"Yes, it was hard. Even so, I believe we all learned much from the experience."

Not on the Island? For safety reasons? He was curious about this black-out test.

He was not really sure what to say in response, but he felt he needed to fill the silence. "I guess that's good." Lucas wished he was better at talking, especially to women.

"I'm still trying to get used to the island. What do you do everyday?"

Emerwyn rolled her sore shoulders again. She was still a little tired.

"Well, usually I -" Emerwyn stopped and thought what did she do every day? She worked on her mystery. She ate. She worked on her puzzle. She drank. She worked on findig the answer.
"I don't suppose I really do much of consequence. I do what I need to survive, and the rest of the time is spent doing what leisure activities are still available to me."

Lucas nodded. It didn't really answer his question, though. But most of her answers had been vague. Though, he couldn't blame the woman. She just met him and he was asking questions that she might not feel comfortable sharing or going into detail. Who knew.

"Do you not have any fun?"

It was very difficult to speak to Emerwyn. Trying to get a straight answer out of her was like trying to get a camel through the head of a needle.

Fun... What was fun to her in the past?
"I suppose I do. Sometimes, I will write. It becomes increasingly difficult, though.
What is the most fun for me now, perhaps, is when I can run through the jungle. It is so freeing - and the breeze feels so wonderful. Especially when it is raining.
Sometimes, the world moves so fast around me that I feel as though I am moving in an entirely different time and space. It is a time when nothing else matters, only you, and the sky that has lifted you up into its midst."

"I like to run and write, too. Maybe I can read whatever it is you're writing."

He looked over at his meal, which had already gone cold. "I hope I haven't kept you from anything."

"Yes, I would like that." Emerwyn smiled, and took a emptied her tea cup.

"No, not at all. But, perhaps it is time I left you to your meal. I will see you again soon, Lucas."
She got up slowly, and smiled at him gently.

"I look forward to it. Thanks for talking to me" Lucas smiled as she got up, then stood himself and offered her his hand. "I'll see you around then. Oh, and I live in duplex 57."

"And I can be found in number eighteen." She took his hand, and gave it a small squeeze.
"Good day."

And she left again. Her hoofs clicked against the floor, her long legs' movement sweeping and graceful. Her small tail poked out of her shorts, and occasionally it would twitch. She turned one last time to wave to Lucas before she disappeared out the door, and off toward the jungle.

Lucas watched her go, waved back, and remained standing until she'd left. His impression of her? She was a little odd, but she was nice.

Relatively pleased with his first day of discovering the Island and it's people, he cleaned up his table with a small smile. He didn't learn as much as he wanted, but he did meet someone.

Going to the food line again, he grabbed a few drinks and an apple for later and set off for his duplex.

[new rp]

For once, the little cheetah girl wasn't smiling, quite the opposite she was curled in a dark corner a frown tracing her usually cheery maw. Her deep blue eyes looked clouded, upset, teary even. Small fluffy ears lay tightly flattened against her head tightly bunched and flush with her jet black mane of hair.

She didn't feel well. Her tummy was sore and she was feeling very sorry for herself. Strangely, wheer normally she would have searched for the light, on the island,s eh loved the light, she had retreated to the dark. She'd never had a tummy ache this bad before she didn't understand what was happening. She wanted Aubrey, she wanetd anyone to explain it. Curling further beneath the table the little cheetah girl curled her tail around her ancles and sniffled.

Angharad felt edgy as she peered round the cafeteria door, odd ears twitching nervously. She hated being seen in the cafeteria; she felt guilty enough taking the meat, even though most of the time she just closed her eyes while she ate now.

But something smelled as if someone was here... her eyes darted around the room, turning her head until at last in the far corner she spotted a small, furry shape. Another islander? Someone couldn't be feeling that great if they were there, whether through drunkeness or illness or depression. The girl took a breath, and twitch her braid nervously over her shoulder before coming forward cautiously. She wouldn't get food anyway if someone was here.

...."Hello?"
