“It’s pretty good.” She smiled sincerely at him as the two of them stood face to face with one another. The stonewall was beginning to crack.
The boy looked at her, but while his face was facing her, his eyes seemed to be avoiding hers. He looked at her cheeks, or something behind and beside her, but refused to look directly at her.
Good, thats good.
He nodded and said, turning his head as if pulled by an unseen force, quickly away from her. His eyes snapped seemingly unconsciously to the face down picture.
Thats very good....Very very good.
He added, but with a quiet desperation in his tone that made it sound less as if the armor fit was that good, and more like he just needed something to say to keep it all from spilling out. To keep him from realizing that...
“Are you sure…you are okay?”
He did not seem so. Not in any regard. He did not look at Madison, instead he clutched his taped up ruler-sword very tightly in one hand, and with the other he pulled the picture off of the table, and without looking at her he offered it to Madison.
As a child...we had so much fun...but then she vanished. And I am trapped, I cant go where shes gone.
He faced her, but slowly, tear clearly visible in his eyes. His indigo hair painted with orange light looked like a small head based sunset.
I've never been able to beat him. The sick and twisted monster that keeps me here...Not alone...but it doesnt matter, as long as your not stuck here too.

He wouldn’t look at her. Not directly anyways, he was doing his best to avoid looking into her face. But Madison really couldn’t blame him; she had been such a jerk towards him when it came to earlier events. She wanted to embrace him and comfort his pain. However, his movements suggested that he just wanted her to get out. Every word he spoke he seemed only to be used to fill up space, as the silence seemed to cause him nothing more than pain. Was she really causing him that much grief? Finally, he seemed to crack a little more to show a bit more ease for the two of them. Slowly, he handed her the small piece of paper that had been resting on the table in order for her to look at it. She carefully began to examine it with as much care as possible, for she knew that this was something precious to him. It was something important. Maximos As a child...we had so much fun...but then she vanished. And I am trapped, I cant go where shes gone. At that moment Madison flipped over the piece of paper and examined it with her two deeply colored eyes. But the sight of it caused the young rabbit to nearly stop breathing. There was indeed a young girl on the picture, barely passed the age of ten. It wasn’t exactly the most flattering of pictures, considering that it was a school picture. That distinction was clearly made by the unique school uniform she was wearing. But possibly the most frightening part was the likeness the two of them had. The girl did not have the similar mutations that Madison did. But she did have her black hair, her delicate pale skin that resembled a china doll, and her eyes that beamed with curiosity even though they were in fact a different color. Madison wasn’t sure what to even think about this picture. A part of her began to believe that it was in fact her. But this couldn’t have happened, not to her at least. Otherwise she would have remembered, however, remembering didn’t seem to be in her favor when it came to her past. This girl may have been a relative of hers by chance; she herself was completely unaware of whom this mysterious Alice could have been. Madison had than looked up from the image and to see that there was a tear within his eye. This little girl meant a lot to him, a great deal. And what was even more saddening was the fact that he may never see or be with her ever again. The rabbit could feel the sadness fill up within her as she watched the young boy attempted not to weep. Maximos I've never been able to beat him. The sick and twisted monster that keeps me here...Not alone...but it doesnt matter, as long as your not stuck here too. Madison nodded at she understood the circumstances that this boy had faced. It was definitely time to get this show on the road. Even though deep down she was still curious if there was a possibility for him to break out of here. For no one deserved to be trapped inside a world just as dark and cruel as this. “…We should probably get going.” Madison held her hand out with the picture in between her fingers. She was still being very careful with it as this was the boy’s property and not her own.

There seemed to be a release, in being able to confide what he had kept locked away since he found Madison on the stage. Seeing that face again looked to be a weight that bore down on his heart heavily. But now, the tears were drying, strength, not ice was washing over his features.
He accepted the picture, his one visible violet eye dropped to it. The boys features softened as his small thumb traced Alice's cheek with his thumb, almost fondly. Remembering that face, all it had said and done. And then he looked up at Madison.
She seemed different that just moments before. There was a strength to her now too. A resolution, as if perhaps the image in the picture, or his words had given her something she was without. This was not the same girl that left him on the floor to crawl his way to the closet alone. She wouldnt do that. It would be foolish to say she wasnt afraid, but she wore it like a badge of honor.
Yes. Yes we should.
He said, taking a single step back, and gesturing wide with his free hand toward the air vent. And then, like a single cloud in a clear sky, like one black sheep in a white heard, against what seemed to be the impossible, the boy smiled. It was a cute, innocent thing. And he added.
Ladies first.

Finally, there was something that Madison had not seen on the boy in the entire time that they had been together on this journey. A smile. It wasn’t one of those forced ones that people would put on in an act of false sympathy. But rather, it was real and wholesome. Considering how odd it must have looked, Madison thought it was absolutely perfect. “Right. Ladies.” Madison made her way over to the vent and stared at it again. She knew that the two of them were going in Doctor infested water. And really, that wasn’t fun for anyone. Turning around she looked at him yet again, her courage seemed to flutter off for a moment as her mind continued to remind her what lurked on the other side. “You know…I never got to thank you for helping me…” Her voice wondered a little as she talked. But it wasn’t as though she was trying to regain her strength; she felt it was important to tell him this. “You didn’t have too, but you did. And I thank you for it. Cause otherwise I don’t think I would have managed to go on this far. So, thank you…uh…” Madison paused as she remembered she didn’t know his name still. He knew hers all too well at this point, and yet she did not know his. All she knew about this boy was about his beloved Alice. But she knew better than to ask considering that he had denied her earlier. With a smile she quickly made her way over towards the vent that they had entered through and took a deep breath in. Grabbing the edge of the vent she pulled herself up into it causing a few clangs to be heard as the metal pots smacked against the walls of the vents. It appeared that Madison wasn’t very silent when it came to vent climbing now that she had the additional armor on. Once inside the vent, Madison felt the pot on her head fall over her eyes. Using her had she moved it in order for her to see. This was proving to be much more difficult the second time through.

“Right. Ladies.” Indeed.
And the boy nodded stoutly. She walked right up to him, then right to the vent where she seemed to pause. If he saw her hesitation, if he felt it, if he even knew it didnt show. When she turned, reluctant, and looked at him he was smiling ear to ear. It was a soft, Everything will be alright sort of smile.
“You know…I never got to thank you for helping me…” Her voice wondered a little as she talked. His violet eye looked up at hers and his smile didnt seem to falter, though he did open his mouth to say.
You dont-- “You didn’t have too, but you did. And I thank you for it. Cause otherwise I don’t think I would have managed to go on this far. So, thank you…uh…”
There was a catch at the end of her sentence. Most sentences dont end in "Uh". Unless information is missing, or an individual is thinking. It would seem obvious to most that his where he should input his name. But the boy instead, still smiling, blinked a few times and then let his head roll slightly to the side. He didnt get it.
When it became clear she wasnt going to finish that his head shook and his hand waved in front of him, as if dismissing what she said by wiping it from the air.
Of course I did. Its only right, but its not over yet. If we dont win, I wont really have helped you at all. But...your welcome all the same.
Then came the ding dong symphony of pots and pants and stiff paper against the inside of an ventilation duct not meant for stealth by any means. She entered, and soon after the boy entered, a proper distance behind her.
By the time she reached the other side of the vent and pushed out into the janitors closet, everything was incredibly silent. Not footsteps, no awkward breaths, no moans and the smell of sanitizer was entirely absent. Madison was alone save for whatever sounds she might have made. And the brooms, and the old dusty cleaning supplies. A voice just above a whisper came from behind her, as the boy put his hands on the sharp pencils in his belt, he said.
You open the door, I'll back you up.

It wasn’t a very long crawl till she reached the janitor’s closet yet again. But rather than hearing the death march of doctors, there was nothing. This caused her to become suspicious. Considering how the series of events had been going throughout this strange place they were in, it really didn’t seem to be safe that there was no sound lurking around. Calmly, Madison pulled herself out of the vent and stood up to face the dusty brooms and noticed the collection of supplies. Her eyes scanned the area as she noticed the various elements of cleaning supplies. She looked rather pleased at the various supplies she was surrounded with. They were ever so unique and special each of them. Quietly, she began to pull various brushes and clothes off of the shelves. Maximos You open the door, I'll back you up. Madison stopped gathering her new supplies for a moment and she was pulled back to their mission by his voice. Quickly, she began to place the back as though they are as though nothing had happened. Once making sure everything was back in place she moved over to the door and opened it ever so slowly. A part of her was expecting a trap as she poked her head around the corner of the door in order to see down the hallway. The coast seemed clear as she tip toed around the door while being constantly on her guard the entire time. After all, she never knew what she was going to face now that everything was ever so quiet.

Some people think that fear that jumps out at you is the worst. For a moment your body tenses, your senses scream, and then suddenly calm and recognition overtake the moment and your left with a lesser fear.
In truth, the scariest thing is the unknown, and the uncertain. Madison was facing this kind of fear. She had a gift in her large ears, it meant she could hear them before they could see her. But it also meant that in a large place like this, will sound reverberating off of walls and doors and echoing down long and decrepit halls, that she heard so much it was nearly impossible to tell what came from where.
What Madison would hear most, was shuffling. It was the sound of hospital slipper shoes and wore out dress shoes rubbing against aged tile. It was getting closer to her, but it was also getting father from her, some steps seemed to be moving but nowhere. It was simply impossible to tell. And then a hand suddenly grabbed her forearm, and a voice said.
Come on. This way!
And the little boy was pulling her off down the hall. It wouldnt be for another few seconds that he said.
Can you hear anything? Are they close?

Madison continued to peer out the door for a moment. Her ears twitched as she heard every sound vibration echoing off the walls; but truth be told, she had no idea where the sounds were coming from. Every shuffle, every creak, and every breath were echoing in her ear. Some were ever so close like right behind her, breathing down her neck as they prepared for the kill. And some were far away with echoing footsteps on the ground. The only thing that was for certain was where she was. With the touch on her for arm Madison practically jumped out of her skin and stumbled backwards. There were a few clanks as her armor banged together. But the boy did manage to practically scare the living day lights out of her. Clenching where her heart would be with her one hand and holding the doorframe, she took a few heavy breaths in and out. However, it wasn’t long till the boy began to pull her arm like a small child who was showing his mother all the exciting things that they did at school during a parent teacher interview. Except these exciting things weren’t going to be anywhere remotely interesting to the well being of a small child. Maximos Can you hear anything? Are they close? Madison’s ears continued to twitch as now the sound of the wind whistling by them as they moved down the hall. She could definitely still hear them, however there was no logical explanation for where they were at this moment in time. “Oh I can hear them…” Madison was now looking at each of the windows in the doorways that they passed; she was making sure they weren’t going to jump her. “But I can’t tell where they are.” She frowned as she continued to try and listen for their location. Damnit, this was proving harder than they thought.

The boy nodded solemnly.
The boy seemed to have mastered an impossible art. He was rushing down the hallway, and his armor, which was made of the exact same materials as Madison's armor, did not make a sound except the occasional soft rustle. And this only seemed to cost him a fraction of speed.
Still, whatever sound she did make, he didnt seem to mind, his violet eye was focused intently on the hall ahead of them and with quick head turns on the hall behind them. His opposite hand played gently against the ruler tied to his belt.
There was an intensity about him, a hardness and an age. And yet directly beside that rough exterior, the little boys pop helmet had slid sideways on his head awkwardly covering half of it, and letting tuffs of indigo hair poke out. His sneakers, with their laces untied and sloppy made squeaks, and his cheeks were pinchably pink.
He lead Madison to the intersection where he had found her last, after his...accident. It was a T shaped hallway with a left turn and a right turn available. The boy snuck up to the far left corner and peaked around the edge, then whipped back and made a waving hand motion for Madison to come towards him, and a point, telling her to look around the corner. If she did, she would see another hall full of classrooms, she would see the shadow of a doctor and or nurse cast against the walls but hidden far down the hall and out of view. And she would see large door at the end of the hall with blood stains on the blurry, dusty window, which read in big black letters. "Pr ncip l".
Thats his office.
The boy said. And pointed, and no sooner did he point, than did an icy hand touch Madison's shoulder. And a sickening soft sweet voice in a way only a nurse could, from directly behind her said.
You dont look so well, do you want to lie down in my office for a bit?

Madison was impressed, this boy was practically a ninja in comparison to her clutzy movements she was making with the armor. They continued to run and they were definitely moving much more quickly than before. They had reached the same hallway were they had separated earlier and Madison noticed on the floor there had been a blood streak or two from his injuries. But she couldn’t stay and stare, they had a mission to do. “Did you remember to tie your shoe laces?” This was a very important matter considering the events that had taken place before hand. However, he seemed to tip toe forward within the T-shaped hall down the left corner. She knew what was down the right; they came from that way prior. But the left was definitely something entirely new. With the indication of his hand, Madison made her way passed a few busy classrooms and inched up beside him and a large door. She stared at it cautiously and taking note of the blurry dusty windows and blood. Quietly she adjusted her glasses as she looked at the black letters. She couldn’t read them, but she definitely took note that they were there. “You sur-” Before Madison could finish her sentence another voice could be heard. It was sweet and shrilled and it caused Madison to practically freeze. What was even worse was the fact that something was touching her. She could feel the cold sensation flowing into her shoulder and into her own body. Madison was practically frozen. Maximos You dont look so well, do you want to lie down in my office for a bit? She couldn’t even talk really. Except there was something that she was doing, with her right hand she began to fumble with the tools that she was given. It was clear that she was scared out of her absolute mind, but she knew what had to be done. Finally, her hand managed to grab a hold of a handle of some sort. She wasn’t sure what it was, but she knew it’ll do the trick. She turned her body rather quickly causing her to face the frightful creature that was grabbing onto her. She was finally ready to face her fears, literally. As she moved, she pulled what appeared to be a pair of scissors from her belt and she plunged into down into it’s arm to cause it to let go of her. If it would hit, it was going to definitely let go and there would be a great deal of blood flying everywhere and possibly hitting her fair skin. Madison could feel herself wanting to continue on slashing the creature. Afterall, it was their people who made her into what she was now. It was there fault that she was deranged and messed up. And she wanted revenge; she wanted her justice. Her hands shook as they continued to grab a hold of the blade within her hand while she could feel her heart thumping rather loudly in her ears. “MOVE!” With that Madison grabbed onto his hand wrist and attempted to run foreword, however depending on how the nurse would react it would decide on whether or not their escape plan was going to be successful. Afterall, she did just slash open the nurse’s forearm.

Lindy heard the man yelling impatiently and broke into a full out run, if she could make it to the buildings she knew she would be home free! This man couldn't possibly follow her straight through the solid walls of the building and it would take him far too long to go around the outside, giving her plenty of time to disappear into the labrynthine(is that even a word? Well it is now) back alleys of the city. Sprinting through the crowds like a breeze she dashed headlong into the shade of a building gaining momentum as she ran straight for the wall, she would have giggled if she had breath to spare but instead she settled for a cheeky look back at the poor man shoving his way through the crowd waving the watch in the palm of her hand at him in fond farewell.

That...never in a thousand years did he expect that.
The boy whipped around at the sound of the nurses shrill voice, one hand moved to his ruler while the other hand moved to a set of pencils ready to toss. But before he could even move, a drop of warm blood fell on the tip of his nose, and a few bits of spray dotted his white cheeks.
Madison had not only stabbed the woman in the arm, piercing into the meat, but she would be able to feel something like a tight chord popping as she sliced an artery, and then her viscious scissor blade would be met with a rough hard stop. That would be the v tip of the instrument digging into bone. Contrary to what movies tell you, blood is not as thin as red water, but, if an artery is pierced it can spray. Especially if the limb is moving. So when the nurse was stabbed so violently, and while she cried out a sound that would make most Banshee sound mute, she also sent streams of red pulsing from her arm.
The boy, was stunned. He looked at Madison with an unreadable face. He seemed to be mortified, and yet the edges of his mouth kept trying to curl upwards, even as they fought to hang agape. He had nothing to say, no reaction at all. Not only had the bunny girl done something entirely brutal, but she had a twisted look on her face. She was bent and warped with a sort of raw emotion that said she wanted to do it again. And again. And that there were maybe no limits to where that one moment might take if...she didnt stop it.
She grabbed his arm. And she shouted.
"MOVE!"
And they were moving. Fast. The boy's feet scuddled under him as fast as they could take him. He nearly tripped a few times, but Madison's grip wasnt so weak as it was before.
It wouldnt be so easy. The Nurses scream echoed through the halls like a fire alarm. Doctors were pouring in from all around, bone saws were buzzing, syringes were squirting. Madison and company were rushing from the Principal's Office, and the boy was shouting.
Madison wait! Wait! You cant just go in there, you dont understand! He's scary!
He tripped and caught himself.
He-he-he's got crazy hair, and sharp pointy teeth, and his eyes! They're just not right. Madison WAIT!
She would hear it if she tried. There was a warble in his voice, a strain. It was something here to for hidden, but now in the face of what had been unfaceable...it was fear. He sounded afraid. He wasnt actually resisting her, his feet still moved. And now, Madison had a choice. Because fast approaching her front, was the door to the Principals office. And fast approaching either side and her rear, were medical monsters.
Stand and fight. Or push on through?
----
Did she just...
It was unmistakable. With his magic eye zoomed as far as it would go, Maximos saw it. Just a hint of a thing really. But Lindy stood out as the only fish going up stream in a downstream river. And that sparkle in the sunlight, that twiddle of digits...that was...
Oh no...no no no...
Max stopped. He met his foes gaze dead on. She would be able to tell, he was the man with the right eye spilling out plumes of what appeared to be semi-transparent white flame. The pale man with a set jaw, and teeth visible gritting in his mouth.
If she stayed to watch, she would see another man get up from the crowd of bowled over individuals. He was taller than the pale man, and bulkier, and appeared a good deal more angry. Shouts were being delivered, threats cast, and limbs were waving menacingly. And then the crowd churned like a body of water and blocked all view.
Lindy was free to run. But she wouldnt get far past that shaded entrance before...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
A single scream from far away zooming forward. If she looked back, she would see a man flying like a torpedo, through the air just above the crowd. A large man. If she didnt, she would probably hear him crash through the entryway into something nearby and make a big commotion. The mans face and arms were covered in odd black marks, they almost looked like tattoos designed to look like licks of flame or curlicue's of smoke.
And then, BOOM.
The man did not explode, but the marks did. Each one was like a vent, pouring out black smog as their owner thrashed and ran around wildly, screaming as if he were burning alive, even though the marks were completely harmless. The natural shade was vanishing as the smog grew thicker and lashed around the room. What was once dimly lit, was now very quickly thickening into true darkness. Lindy would likely find herself in pitch black. As if the sun had been blotted out from the sky.
Now the trick was finding something to phase through when you couldnt see. Or so he hoped.

“All right! What are you suggesting?”
Um...
Chaos was all around them. Impending, bloody, and yet sanitized doom was closing in on every side and this boy was umming. He was pausing. His violet eye looked down at his sneakers as he nudged the tip of one into the ragged tile.
...I...I dont know...
He said, lifting his head to meet her gaze. His pale cheeks flushed with pink embarrassment. Stabbing, poking, slice, gouging, sawing agony encroaching on every side...
...I'm scared.

Maximos Um... Now Madison froze for a moment, she had totally forgotten about the fact that even though he had provided her a great deal of assistance. He was still human; in fact he was very human as he felt emotions just as much as she did. Taking a deep breath in Madison grabbed his hand tightly; it was a brace of support as the splattered blood began to infuse in the palms of their hands. “We’re going to be okay, dear.” Madison provided him a rather reassuring smile and then pulled him into an embrace. Even though he was quite a bit shorter, his metal helmet was against her hips as her hands were wrapped around him head. The golden knife in his chest would clank ever so slightly against her armor which made a light clang sound. “We’re going to make it out. We’re going to be okay…”But despite their request to have this tender moment, this wouldn’t stop the horde of doctors coming their way, or the fact that there was a chance that this ever so real world would come to an end. So far, nothing really seemed to be in their favor. The heaving breathing and sickening smell of sanitizer continued to lurk forwards in their direction. Madison looked over towards them and back down to him and pulled him away ever so slowly. Once having his face off of her, she grabbed his chin with her hand and pulled him to look up at her. “You won't have to do this alone. I'm going to be here beside you. But I need your help to do this. ”Madison brushed some of his exposed violet hair away from his face as she finished her sentence. Turning her head she looked over to see that the creatures that had been tormenting the two of them continued to make their march towards them. Each step filling the long hallway with a pounding drum-like sound, which caused her ears to twitch at every movement. Despite the fact that Madison knew she had more to say with those creatures, she made her focus towards the door that they were standing in front of. Whoever was causing the two of them that much pain, was just beyond this door, waiting to say hello.
