...

Dood...

The new Catachan command squad looks pretty slick, though I don't necessarily like the pose that the commander is in. The medic looks epic, though. As for the Cadian commander...awesome. That and the bionic arm on the standard bearer are just amazing.

And that Commissar Lord shall truly rip people up.

I like, I'm not sure about the toned down Cat' arms mind, I liked the massive bulging biceps biggrin

I really like that bionic arm..

And I'm not too sure on the sizes of the Cat's. The legs seem alot thinner..

PFC Hudson from Warseer
I had a look at the promo material that GW is sending to the stores for IG. Here are some of the highlights that I recall:

Troops:
Frag Grenades are now standard equip for guardsmen.

Confirmed that Infantry is being repackaged in boxes of 10 troopers at $22 / box. Only special weapons (flamer, GL) included. Also for both the Cadians and Catachans it was mentioned that options for creating more 'exotic' troop options such as Penal Legionairres, Conscripts, and Veterans will be included -- perhaps an accessory sprue with addtional heads, etc?

Orders:

Three orders were mentioned: The extra shot with lasguns order, the TANK order, and an order that improves your cover save.

Voxcasters allow a reroll on your leadership check for orders.

Tanks:

At the front of the flyer it was stated that Tanks can be taken in squads of 3, in the summary at the rear it said Leman Russ Battle Tanks can be taken in squadrons of 3, so at least LRBT's can be taken in squadrons of 3.

Lumbering Behemoth rule was confirmed.

Valkyries:

Valkyries can be taken in squadrons of 3 as a single FA choice.

Also infantry can deep strike along the path of the Valk taking a dangerous terrain test.

Chimeras are cheaper and available to all infantry. Mobile command post means that Officers can issue orders while embarked.

Commissars:

still cap the squad leader if he fails a morale check. (they had to keep that, it's too funny to drop)

Lumbering Behemoth shall indeed be a brilliant thing. It frustrates me that Guardsmen are so expensive, but...I shall have to get used to it. I've always been planning a Guard army and I guess that now I've got the motivation to get it going alongside my Chaos army. Heh...switching banners with Icons...heh...

Anyway, those rumors look pretty sweet. All guardsmen getting frag grenades...I'm beginning to detect a painful pattern. I've got the nasty feeling that, eventually, all base infantry are going to come packaged with their form of offensive grenades or, for Tau, defensive grenades.

The vehicles coming in squadrons is nice, but shall likely make it so that people find a way to tweak out the rules to squeeze in a ridiculous number of vehicles. However, what would make sense would be to have a 0-1 "Squad" so that only one sort of vehicle can be included in that manner.

Guardsmen expensive? Are we talking the actual cost of the minis or the ingame cost? Soon they'll cost 4 points per model, not something I'd call expensive.

I've heard some things about two of the three orders:

Extra shot: Guardsmen may double tap twice.

TAAAANK! (that's how the order is called): +1 to armour penetration, allowing Guardsmen with lasguns to glance AV 10 with a little luck.

Note that a squad can be issued only one order per turn, you can't stack them and say, get four shots per man blazing away at a vehicle with +1 to AP.

Topping this off will be the much hinted at platoon drill, something the squads in the platoon will have as a standard rule, no need to call the command platoon for that.

These are some sweet models, GW have yet again outdone themselves. ;3

I really like the "Irish" feel to the ratlings (they look like the generic pub-guys I met when I was in Dublin), no offence to the Irish people tho'~

And is that a cigarrrrrrrrrrrr I spot in the Cadian officer's hand? :B

Trademark item mayhaps? Though I'm sure that nifty little rule has gone the way of the dinosaur. *shall mourn it*

Not that it was ever horribly useful. It was just a fun/fluffy upgrade. Those are usually the most entertaining to use, though.

That's not a cigar, that's a swagger stick. wink See part 31 below.

The fleet officer and astropath are very nice indeed, they will make for excellent Dark Heresy gaming pieces.

Are you sure you went to Ireland?

These models are nice, but they're going to be annoyingl to mod for non-Canadian or Stalon armies (ie- Steel Legion). I still want my mechanized commander.

Are you sure you went to Ireland?

Yes?

Unless all those pub-men were from another place, but that's what they looked like, so I assume they were Irish people.

Irish are a sub-species that we only reluctantly annexed centuries ago. They have their uses every now and then whee

Fleet Officer and Master of Ordnance are now two of my favourite sculpts.

Also, I'm upset that's the new cover. neutral
