She pinched the bridge of her nose...there was no working with these two was there? One wanted to show she wasn't to be pushed around, the other wanted to show that he wouldn't let her think she was top dog around here, even on the level that he reagrded Piper herself on. "He's not allowed to mess with you or imps...you're both my responsibility...and someone promised me he wouldn't crunch my toes on it. No one likes broken toes." Just to remind him while he was busy threatening her like that and the like.

"Yes, I remember. and I'm not going to do anytihng u nless i have to. but I'm not going to let anything make this any worse than it's already gotten. and I'm sure Kieran is having a time trying to calm your mother down. And I don't know what happened to those imps and I don't like that when the disappear,"

She glared at him, "I told you I wont' make trouble unless I'm forced to. I've listed the things that I will make trouble about. Do yourself a favor and don't do any of those things. And if you're not crunching toes, you should be fine then shouldn't you?" She tossed her head to get her hair out of her eyes, damn short style. She still wasn't entirely used to it. "Then we should all be fine, shouldn't we?"

"Thier imps, it's what they do. If they mess something up you can yell at me for it. You only encourage them by reacting to them anyway...they like to make you mad. It's a game to them." She crossed her arms, taking a few steps away from them both as she rubbed her hands on her arms a moment. "I need to relax..." Thus she walked away from the both of them, heading downstairs. Another four hour soak in the spas behind locked doors sounded theraputic about right now. She couldn't deal with those two fighting and she couldn't deal with her parents right now. If they all wanted to fight, well they could...she'd be eyeball deep in water not caring for a bit.

Zahara watched Piper go and rounded on Malik, "why do you do this to her? What has she ever done to you to piss you off so much that you would put her through such misery? It's obvious she's not happy and it's all your fault. I knew you were insensitive most Drow are but somehow I thought yo uwere different. I don't know, maybe the fact that Piper had the misfortune of falling in love with an a*****e like you!" She was furious, to teh point where she'd love to draw her daggers and swipe them across Malik's grinning face. "b*****d is what you are."

"I asked her for this, I never foreced her. she chose to do it. knowing full well what might happen. and I care more about her then you coudl even fathom, or more than you coudl possibly even understand in teh very meaning of the word. But you don't, can't, understand. so before you go flinging words and accusations you can at least know what your talking about, Llothian."
He went to the kitchen and got hte ale out again and poured a glass for himself.
"Don't question someone on love and family when you've never had either and don't understand either except only in the vaguest concepts of the meaning of the words themselves."

She shook her head, "I don't understand? Is that what you're trying to tell me, that I don't understand? I may have never felt it myself but I can see how she feels about you. She wears it right out on her face and you hurt her repeatedly and it upsets me. It's true i've never cared about anyone else but maybe that's because no one was worthy enough to care about. Piper is. and I wont stand by while you hurt her repeatedly. Give up your stupid dream. Piper and her mother don't get along and you're only making the situation worse by pretneding that they might become good friends. I know surface elves are different from Drow but I still don't see how this is good for Piper."She followed him into the kitchen and said softly, "Ii'm asking you nto t hurt Piper. Send Fianna home."

"Which do you think is the worse hurt? the daughter who has a mother that won't accept her life, or hte mother who until a week ago, believed her daughter dead, and now finds her in the arms of the one race she is more terrified of than anything and living in the one place she fears? they jsut need time to adjust to eachother, that's all."
Another glass down.
"It's not easy for me to know the strain this is putting on her either. but when myself and piper have children, I don't want them to not have a grandmother, especially if she is there."

She knew surface elves tended to have a lower fertility rate than Drow,proabbly because Drow families killed each other off and if they didn't give birth at a high rate, they would become extinct rather quickly. "Does Piper want children or is that your dream as well?" She really didn't know what to say about the mother since she'd never had hers even care if she was alive. Family was a foreign concept to her but she was beginning to learn. From her observations about the different people here, she was beginning to draw a few conclusions and she shook her head. "My mother doesn't care if I live or die so I can't answer that." She plopped her hands on her hips and raised an eyebrow, "Think you've had enough?" she asked nodding to teh glass. What was he trying to do?

Jaun coughed as dust filled his lungs, and Jell slapped a hand over his mouth.
"You fool! You're going to give us away!" The two stopped suddenly, above them dirt and other debris fell from the boards as someone above them walked across the flooring. Were the responding to Jaun's cough? Or were they perhaps, just serving a late patron? Could have been either. Jaun coughed into Jell's hand once agian, trying to be quieter about it this time. When the fit had past, Jell released his brother, giving him a bit of a glare.
"You were the one who told me to be quiete!" They were both being uncharacteristicly serious.
"Hey, I'm sorry okay. When you gotta cough, there ain't much you can do to stop it." At this point, they started shushing each other.
In the basement of some popular pub in Deep Water, where mysteriously, the flow of ale and wine and spirits never stopped. The imps suspected some kind of underground operation, this sneaking around in the basement.
They crawled aloned the dirt floor, staying quite, being stealthy. In front of them loomed something that their little eyes truly loved to look apon.

"I know my limits, Zahara, and I'm not near to being drunk ot even tipsy. I'm just relaxing, the same as Piper is in the spas right now. as for children, we've talked about it. I'm not saying we ever will, but I won't have a child of mine that doesn't know thier heritage form any parent's family, and can't see them. Kieran I know woudl visit. it's Fianna that we have to convince."
He set the glass down.
"Not only that I am not the evil, blood drenched Drow she's read and been told about. and then that the Underdark is as safe a place as any other. and get them to at least agree to disagree if nothing else. this is why it is so important to make this impression."
A sigh.
"Fianna is a Queen. if she feels threatened enough over Piper, I wouldn't put it past her to come back with military force to 'rescue' her from me. and I don't want that. not becuase they would take her, but because I would be forced to retaliate. and that might mean going through Kieran."

Zahara didn't look convinced and the expression on her face told him that. "okay but if you go over your limit, I'm not helping you. You can fall and hit your head and I wouldn't care less." She glanced at him for a moment and then a small, mocking smile fluttered about her lips. "You mean to tell me that you stole Piper from them? You convinced her to come live in the Underdark, away from her family, away from her mother. She let them believe that she was dead and now you want to get in all buddy with the mother who happens to be a Queen?" She couldn't help it she burst out laughing. "You certainly pick your battles don't you Malik." Then she sobered, "Well here's the way I look at it, Fianna is surface, Kieran is surface, Piper is surface with an identitiy crisis or a Drow complex, I haven't quite figured out which one it is yet. Surface elves hear the same stories about us we do about them. And a lot of them are true in various degrees. So I can't blame the woman for hating you on the spot and wanting to take her daughter away. Especially if she thought she was dead. The light's not shining so well on you from where I'm standing Malik. Sounds to me like you're cold, heartless and out to take what this woman just got back." She grinned, "I'd hate you with every fiber of my being too."

Second, I didn't steal her away from them. third, Most of th estories they hear are true in your society, and many are about mine. fourth, I'm walked teh surface a lot longer then you've even known about it, and have seen prejudice on both sides in action. hence I own several illusion masks."
Another drink.
"Here, I could fend off an army. there's but one place to bring in a great deal of troops, and I have my defenses specifically for that event, which I had expected some time ago from Deepwater. So I'm prepared. really the only ones I woudl have to worry about are 'heroes'. those of exceptional skill. Kieran being one of those. and I rather like him. so I don't want to have to try, and probably succeed, in cutting him down."
setting the glass down.
"And you want to hear the worst. the most horrible thing that ever happened to her did not come at teh hands of a drow, or some beast down here. it was at teh hands of a childhood friend twisted into madness by his obsession with her. and he got his just punishment from me. in fact, about seven hides of his are being used right now to write and scribe necromantic spells, and what flesh he had left I'm going to have fed to Nightmare and her foals."
A small grin.
"Not to mention his soul is being constantly ripped through the planes of nightmare, fear, and hate."

"That is a travesty. But Piper seems to be alright. She's stronger than I ever believed surface elves to be. We call them weaklings because we prey on them but in truth they have their strengths." She couldn't really say she'd walked the surface because she hadn't. Though she wanted to know about the collar. It upset her to think that the same thing most of his slaves wore, she wore as well. "and she voluntarily came to the Underdark Malik? Face it, if it weren't for you she wouldn't be here right now. She could be back with her family if she chose to or maybe not. She told me she didn't like being who she was so she left. I sympathize but it seems to me her family's being pests and following after her. And all because of your desire to have a close knit family tha tdoesn't even fall in with Drow ideals."

"She voluntarily chose to come to the underdark. becuase she got her wanderlust, and then she had never been to one of two places. the ocean, and the underdark. I told her if she wanted to travel, then at least go to the underfoot where I knew my way around and could easily protect her. she got a bit of cold feet when we got here but that's it."
A shake of his head.
"She invited Kieran, and then we invited Fianna. that simple. don't read so much into it. and it's a surface ideal to have a tight knit family. I'm the odd one for that, not her or her family."
