"Well, sounds like one way or another we've finally got you converted - even if it's because of a matter of no foils present."

He nodded at the descriptions. "That's pretty much it... though as far as speed goes, that's also highly dependent on the individual." He winked. "Yes, it takes more thought, but if you know what you're doing..." He trailed off with a grin.

Tommy grins and laughs at this, "Seems the bastards finally got me, eh?"

"Well, let's just hope I still have the speed I once had then," he says while searching for a bottle of V8 that had at lest some juice left in it. Ah! Found one, quarter of the way full. He quickly downs it.

"Seems, I've finally found something to do on this damn island besides moping around," he says with a grin. It's been a while since he's had some happiness, and this may be the thing that turns him from the brink of madness.

"Apparently so. And it sounds like we've got ourselves a plan... and hopefully a good source of entertainment for a while."

He looked over Tommy's changes critically. "I wouldn't think your speed would be too hampered... at least not after you grow accustomed to things. Though I could be wrong. We'll both be dealing with needing to adjust, though."

Ambrose rose to his feet, carting his tray before returning back to the table with a pensive look. "I'll look into getting a pair of goggles and... something to service to protect my snout. In the meantime, I can loan you a set of equipment for you to work with?"

Tommy nods at the remark about changes, suddenly feeling like he should stop complaining as much "...yeah..."

"Hey, yeah, that'd be great! Goddamn, it's been too long since I've fenced...I need my fix," he grins, "But yeah, I'm in duplex fifty four, which one a...heh...wait, lemme guess...you're number one, right?"

Ambrose responded with a wolfish grin. "How'd you guess? Yeah, that's my place. It's easy to remember. I'll drop by the equipment this afternoon for you, then! And best of luck with your writing practice. Between that and fencing I hope you're able to get a handle on it!"

He patted the bat-man on the shoulder before heading out. "And then, feel free to drop by my duplex whenever you like."

He gave him a wave and headed for the door.

Tommy nods as Ambrose gave him a pat on the shoulder, feeling for once, almost good about himself. "Yeah, I actually might just do that," he says sincerely. .oO(s**t, I actually might...damn, this seems like one of the few people here I actually wouldn't mind to get to know)

After Ambrose leaves, Tommy looks over the mess he made for a moment before going right back at it. Alec's going to want this note soon...

New RP

Running a hand through his mess of brown hair, Lucas reached for the door of the Cafeteria and peeked in. He had been sure that someone would be there, of all places. But, as was his luck, it was empty. So far his quest to meet his "neighbors" wasn't going quite as well as he'd hoped. Since he was there, he figured he might as well get some food to eat, but, unlike past trips, he would eat at one of the tables instead of retreating to his duplex. Perhaps someone would come along. Picking up a tray, he selected a variety of things from different food groups, popped a roll into his mouth and carried everything over to table. He ate slowly, watching the doors for someone to enter.

After the day she'd spoken to Zach, Emerwyn had made it a daily habit to come to the cafeteria for a cup of tea. It was never the same as it had been, but still she drank it, almost obsessively, as though trying to regain that old part of her.
She made her way there again today, he body sore and tired. She had not been sleeping that well in her bed lately, and often times found herself on the floor, legs tucked hap-hazardly underneath her.

She rolled her bony shoulders as she stepped lightly over the cafeteria floor, her hoofs clicking on the tiled floor, echoing in the nearly empty room.

Only one person seemed to be there. And he was completely human. She smiled at him on her way to get the tea. Smiles from Emerwyn were a wonder. Her heavy brow hid her eyes, giving her a strange, distant look. It was never clear exactly what Emerwyn's face meant when it greeted you.

When the door opened, Lucas watched as the half-deer, half-woman figure entered the Cafeteria. He stared for a moment, then averted his eyes. Of course she wouldn't wanted to be gawked at. Poking around at his food, he tried to decide how best to approach her while she got what she needed. He glanced up in time to see her smiled and, for a moment, had second thoughts. He had never been very good at reading people. What did that smile mean? Should he just leave her alone? Maybe she was just being friendly? A deer wasn't dangerous. He sighed and mentally scolded himself for that last one.

Returning the smile, he stood and approached her. "Hi, my name is Lucas." He felt awkward, standing there, and his hands reached out for the comfort of his bag strap. When he realized he was without his bag, his hands grasping at air, he quickly lowered them into his pockets.

Emerwyn was empathetic towards the young man. She'd been in a similar situation before. It would certainly take him some getting used to. Emerwyn wasn't certain she was entirely used to all of this yet.

"Hello, Lucas. I am Emerwyn. It is a pleasure. I would love to join you, if you will be so kind to wait until I have retrieved my tea."
Her voice was so soft, and even a little soothing.

"Oh, er, sorry." Once again, bad timing. He knew he should have waited until she had finished whatever she came in for, but he had been losing his nerve and just went for it. He felt silly standing there now as she got her tea, but he couldn't bring himself to walk all the way back to his table and just wait. Unconsciouly his eyes scanned over her body, making note of the different changes. He was curious and fascinated. This was the second up close look he had at another of the Islanders. It took him a minute to realize what he was doing and forced his eyes on the food line, away from Emerwyn.

"Do you need any help?"

Emerwyn smiled to her self in mild amusement as she prepared her tea, he back to Lucas. Her hoofed hands were used to this process by now, and she did still retain her thumbs.
She turned her face to his momentarily to say, "I am fine, but thank you very much."

She returned shortly with her steaming tea, which she held gingerly between her two hands. She brought it up to her nose, and smelled it deeply, then, carefully, she set it down, then sat herself across from the nervous boy.

Lucas followed behind her and waited until she had sat down before sinking down into his own chair. He sat there for a moment, his mind scrambling for something to say. Usually he said whatever was on his mind. As much as he wanted to ask, he felt he should try to be sensitive with this person and not bug her about potentially depressing topics. But what could he ask her?

Finally he smiled and blurted out. "So, you like tea?" He bit the inside of his cheek. Dumb question. "Are you not hungry?" he quickly added.

"I love tea," she said, not noticing the apparant idiocy of the question. She seemed to be generally immune to that sort of thing.
"Or, at least, I did love tea. I have been trying daily to remind myself of this fact.
As far as food is concerned, I have had my fill in the jungle earlier this day. The foliage there is more than enough to satisfy me."

Lucas nodded, poking at one of the brussel sprouts sitting on his plate. "So you are losing your taste for tea?" It was risky question, he did not want to upset the woman, but the changes in behavior and appetite that Ambrose had warned him of had troubled him quite a bit. He wanted to know more.
