Not sure how I would incorporate the duels though... It's rather difficult to randomize the draw..

The draw could be randomized by the "random number" function of posting in guilds, and if you post your deck already made, you can't just assume the deck is how you like it. *shrugs*

That's a damn good idea!
You could do something like...
Have each card in your deck be represented by a number, then post saying you draw, and use the random number function, having the range be the number of cards in your deck, and whatever number you get is the card.
Do you think that would work?

That was the general idea. Use the OOC forum to post the deck numbered. You can randomize the card order if you wish, but in the end, the post can say a random number between 1 and 40, and it will pick a card for you. Since you can edit your own posts, simply edit your own post so you know what card is listed there, and RP accordingly.

The OOC forum is there for that very reason. To do whatever you want within the rules of Gaia except advertise other guilds and such beyond the Refuge's borders.
As for interest, who's to say? That is the risk you run with any RP here. Or anywhere, for that matter.
