"Stop calling me that..." The man muttered, trying to understand. was he supposed to trust these two people? He didn't even know who they were. He didn't even know who he was. The cloth around his wrists were soaked with blood; would he stop bleeding soon? He felt sick and dizzy.

Atem jumped in alarm at the sudden, loud knocking, but got up and went over to the door anyway. If it was Seto again, he swore that he was going to... He froze when he opened it and stared. It was Ayira. And Bakura. And Seto, but that wasn't as shocking as seeing the other two. "What... you..." He stammered, his eyes wide. "You're dead. You both... were... dead..." "Wonderful news. Tell me something I didn't know." Bakura snapped sarcastically. He just wanted to get out of the palace. "Give me some clothes. Why's it so cold?"

Atem's mouth moved silently as he struggled to form words. He just couldn't believe this. "But... I don't understand..." He said, turning and going further into the room. He went over to Nanu, shaking her awake. "Tell me you don't see anybody standing at the doorway." He wanted to make sure he wasn't going crazy. Bakura grumbled and entered the pharaoh's room, ignoring the pharaoh himself. He found a kilt and put it on, deciding that he could function better if he was dressed. He didn't give a damn about the priest... Well, maybe he should. The guy did bring him back, after all.

Nanu groaned opening her eyes. She had to think for a moment before saying "Why is bakura in our bedroom?" She then looked to the doorway "Ayira...Am I dreaming?" Ayira shook her head "No Seto did some sort of magic...." "Oh...mabye that would exsplain the letter" nanu said.

"Right! Letter! Seto left you a letter earlier today..." Atem still couldn't believe this. I mean, they were dead. He thought Seto had been going crazy earlier today when he gave him the letter. "Where'd you put it, Nanu? Oh, well, that doesn't matter right now. Did you say he was hurt?" Atem went over to the two, looking at Seto for the first time. He certainly seemed different. He took a hold of Seto's hand, examining the makeshift bandages on his wrists. "Right. He'll need some healers. Come with me, Seto." Bakura watched calmly as Atem practically dragged the priest off, before looking at Nanu. "How much time has passed?" He asked, mainly concerned about his family. Were they still okay? Had Mariku been killed? Where was Rei?

Bakura looked at the woman in disbelief. Two years? Then... then... He swayed slightly, bringing a hand up to his head. "They'll be three years old now..." He muttered, running a hand through his hair. "And Mariku? You killed him, right?"

Nanu nodded "yes. He was starved to death. He was ensured a slow and painful death." Nanu Pulled herself up more trying to get to her feet. "Rei still lives in the home in the desert...the one with the oasis...I had visted her a time or two..."

Bakura hesitated slightly, but went over to help Nanu get up. "Is she... okay?" He asked, his voice becoming soft. "I mean, and the children... I thought I saw Femi in the palace, before Mariku-- They're safe, right?" "So you really lost your memory?" Atem asked as he helped Seto along the hallway. His priest only gave him a slightly annoyed, but otherwise blank stare in return. "I'm Atem. The pharaoh. Your cousin. You're a priest here, in the palace. You're telling me you don't know any of that?" Seto shook his head, and Atem sighed. "Hopefully there'll be an explanation in that letter of yours..."

"Thank you." Nanu said "Yes they are both ok. Rei dosent smile much anymore. Your children have learned to walk and run. You may take a horse from the stable. Im sure you want to see them." Nanu the walked over to were her cothes were kept. She took out the letter from her hiding place "Ayira come get a dress to wear." Ayirawho had spaced out looked up "oh yes thank you" she said as she walked over.

"They..." Bakura seemed to completely zone out as he was told about his family. Two years... How could it have possibly been that long? He must have missed out on so much. At the last part, about him taking a horse, he nodded his head, swallowing. "Yes... I need to go..." He muttered, too stunned to even manage a thank you. He left, practically knowing his way around the palace by heart now, and went to the stables.

The letter, which was addressed to Ayira on the front, read as follows:
Ayira,
I would firstly like to apologize. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for not being able to protect you. I'm sorry for watching you die and not try to stop it. I'm sorry for not killing Mariku when I had the chance. I know it was my fault you died. I was unable to forgive myself for that.
But I wanted to try and make it better. After you died... I did my best to change it. I knew I would not be able to go on without you, not in the same way I had before. I looked through all the books in our library. There was nothing that could help me. Recently, though, I found a group of books belonging to my father.
One of those books dealt with black magic. The spell itself would be easy, but it said there was to be a price. I would have to forfeit my memory to bring you back. If you're reading this letter, then... I suppose I don't remember you. But at least you're alive. If I hadn't done this, if I hadn't revived you, I would not be able to live with myself. It was a price I would be willing to pay to have you back, and spare my own sanity.
I'm greedy. I know that. I'm selfish, and shouldn't be asking for that much. But I love you, Ayira. I always will. I'm sorry if I'm not there for you anymore. I'm sorry if you have to deal with some confused shell of mine. I don't know what'll happen to me if I actually do the spell. But I do know that I would have ended up killing myself if I didn't do the spell.
I'm sorry.
Seto
