I might just dig up my Al-Rahem model if his rules are cool enough. I always thought it was odd how they didn't include rules for him and chenkov in the current 'dex, and yet they included pictures of them.

I dig his wargear though: Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol, That and some slick rule and maybe we've got a character who can mix it up!

By his old rules, wasn't he able to force the enemy to take multiple negatives to Ld if they lost a combat? Given his kit, that would be pretty awesome.

IIRC it was only LD-1 if they lost combat to him or the squad he was in.

I'm actually liking almost everything I've heard of the new dex, I look forward to using all of my tank variants legally biggrin

I spent a long time building my own ones out of plasticard and I would love to be allowed to use my own things in normal games.

A bit of shameless advertising razz

Anyway, I'd like to see what they do to the sentinels, I wouldn't mind a slightly heavier armed version.

And tougher ogryns razz

Word on the street is that Sentinels are going to be able to carry much heavier kit, including the potential of Multimeltas and other things that were formerly Forgeworld only. Additionally, there is a new "Spearhead" Sentinel with a Frontal Armor of 12. And the Ogryn are indeed tougher by a full point. T5, 3 Wounds, 3 Attacks at S6. These guys are going to be even more terrifying than they used to be.

Spearheads get the plasma cannon and missile launcher, no word on the multi-melta or heavy bolter. Those could very well remain as Elysian only options.

I'm actually scared now....
The only ranged thing which can kill them in one which I have is Force Weapons, Nem force weapons and Orbital Strike.

...and nemesis force/force weapons are hth only, meaning risking hth with ogryns smile
Hope no scouting multi-meltas on sentinels, they would be bad karma for all the marine tanks razz
@ Blodwynn: Firefly Sherman now? nice to see the RL version of LR Vanquisher razz

Elysian sentinels can't scout, they deep strike instead! wink

emperors teeth! And I thought drop-podding dread with multi-melta was devastating enough smile

No, the Iron Clad is devasting enough.
I saw it destroy two Ork Stompa's in two turns, very nasty.

Hellguns get their range reduced to 18", I think that is a rather fair trade in exchange for the increased AP.

Oh and Van Evok? Remember that Sentinels can come in squadrons of up to three vehicles. surprised

I would certainly consider that to be an improvement. The question becomes, though, has their type changed? Are they now the only 18" Rapid Fire weapon in the game, or have they been made Assault 1? Given that the Codex talks about them having gyroscopic stabilizers built into their weapons, it would make sense, but sense hasn't been the prevalent force for GW of late in Codex writing.

The Hellgun is still a rapid fire weapon. This might be GW's way of forcing players to move and double-tap a bit more. If this is true in the end then yes they are a somewhat unique rapid fire weapon, much like the pulse rifle of the Tau, which has a range of 30".

This might be part of the codex cover art:

Hm...well, they're supposed to be close support shock troops, so having shorter range on the Hellguns really fits that. As for that cover art, it's pretty awesome thus far.
