I assume you've never tried making one, it's awesome and fun to write battle reports (even more fun with pictures of fully painted armies).

Space Marine Scouts retain the Scout special rule, which allows them a Scout move. I was wrong on my call, though. They can only move 12" and CANNOT use a Turbo Boost for their scout move. HOWEVER, a Land Speeder Storm could move that 24" for you and call in the drop pods nicely.

I thought the rulebook didn't say anything about that, and that only ravenwing scout bikes couldn't boost as a scout move, or am I completely wrong here? D:

RevlinHeartsblood ahhh ok, i was confused, i thought the rulebook had said something bout sacrificing shooting for speed Yeah. When a unit has the Turbo Boost rule, if they move anything over 12" they are not allowed to fire. However, their normal armor save becomes an Invulnerable save. If I'm wrong, then...woot! Biker scouts bringing in drop pods.

Actually, I reread the rules today for that one side project I'm working on, and it said that the Turbo Boosters USR makes the armour save become a cover save. o3o

2 fast 4 u - motto of all 40k bikers razz and turbo boost gives 3+ cover regardless of armor (happy dance on the dark eldar side) scouting bikes cant turbo boost, but have: 1: 12" scout move + 6" beacon = drop pod 18" upfield 2: 12" scout move + 12" normal move + 6" assault = first turn charge up to 30" from starting lines

They can't? Oh shoot... I gotta check this up myself though when I get home, since I've seen tacticas on several forums including jetbikes, bikes turboboosting with scout moves.
I'm not 100% sure on this one, but I thought that bikes could turbo boost at the scout move since they can make a normal move as if it's their movement phase (and boosting is part of normal movement), as long as you stay atleast 12" away from the enemy.

According to what my friend just checked up, units with scouts and bike rules CAN turbo boost in the scout phase, since as I said, it's normal movement, tubo boost is just a special rule you can use while moving, but you have to stay 12" away from the enemy.
Some entries like Ravenwing bikers forbid turbo boosting in the scout move, so they cannot do so.
This is what he just checked up from his codexes and rulebooks, I'm going to confirm it myself as mentioned when I get home. wink

Woo... I love making new posts... x3
As I said, you can turbo boost during scout move, as the rulebook says that a unit that uses scout may m ake a move as if it was their normal movement phase, thus they can turbo boost unless the codex says something about it (like Dark Angels Ravenwing), but the unit must stay outside 12" from enemy models.
Using a scout move tubo boost may also give you a 3+ cover save in the first enemy turn, but only if the enemy do get the first turn and you moved over 18" as stated in the rulebook to claim the save.
Edit: I just remembered a thread I made about the 5th Ed FAQ, where I was all happy about my turbo scouting koptas.
