The man finished off his ramen then sat back and sighed happily.
"Schools going well, still having to catch up from when she was on the streets for so long but the doll is giving it her best." he said with a smile.
He then leaned in and listened to her reason for being here. "Fair enough. And my reason? Well... I live here, y'know? Home town. On the outskirts, but still."
The man's hair blew gently in the wind that had picked up slightly. He was rather relaxed, cooling off after his run over the rooftops.
"Any plans for the day?"

"That's good news. Karin is a very smart girl, so I think she'll grasp it rather quickly."
Katie had almost forgotten that Stephen lived on the outskirts. It wasn't like she'd been to his house before, so she really didn't know exactly where it was that he lived.
"No plans. I just wanted to get out and about. It looked like a nice day for it, and the ramen was pleasantly warm, getting rid of that chill."
It was a beautiful day, just a tad on the chilly side, but she was dressed for it. She had on a pair of jeans that were ripped on one knee, and on the backside just beneath one pocket. She had on a plain white t-shirt with a longer green jacket over that.
"What about you? Any plans?"

"No plans, other than picking up the little lady after school. Well... I was planning lunch, but... that's over." he said with a laugh. "Perhaps we can figure something to do, yes?"
He leaned back in his chair and smiled contently as he listened to the sounds of the city.
"By the way: love the get up. Very formal." he said, sticking his tongue out playfully at his friend.

"Oh yeah? You taking her out after? And are you inviting me?"
Katie brought her elbow off of the table to lean back in her chair, resting her arms on the armrests. Her hair was hanging loosely over one shoulder. She smiled as he noted her outfit.
"Ah, you know me. When do I ever really dress in formal wear. I think the most formal thing I own is my armor, and that's saying a lot for me."
She stood up suddenly.
"I'm going to get a drink. Would you like anything?"

"Probably, but you know her, she has a habit of passing out during trips. We'll see." said the man with a gentle smile, thinking of his daughter.
He looked up and smiled. "Fair enough. I'm sure you'd look great in a formal thing sometime. Maybe you'll get invited to a party sometime." He said with a laugh.
"A drink? Oh, sure. I don't usually drink with Karin around, wanna keep on my toes in case something happens. Call it parental instinct, I guess. But yeah, a drink would be fantastic." he said with a smile, standing up to join the woman.

"Yeah, but school can do that to anyone. I'm sure you remember those days. I couldn't wait to get home, and half the time I'd just go home to pass out for the night."
Katie was making her way to a shop that sold drinks only. She had to make sure she went to one that sold decent beer.
"A party? I don't know. I can't remember the last time I was invited to anything."
She would look over at him and nod.
"I know. You have to stay on your toes with a little one running around and a drink can make things hazy."

"Yeah... she's a trooper." he said, walking with Katie to whichever establishment she decided. "I'm really proud of her. Not a lot of kids could go through what she did and come out as well as she has." he said with a smile.
The man smiled, then grinned cheekily. "We may have to remedy that soon, hehehe... get you in a nice suit or dress." Afterward he gave a look that seemed like he was plotting something of a cheeky nature, but didn't say anything else on the matter.
He then laughed at Katie's comment. "Yeah. She can hold her own, but I'm rather paranoid. I love that little girl, and I'll do everything I can to keep her safe, even if it's paranoia driven. But I gotta let her grow up like a kid, can't shelter her forever."
He was musing now, perhaps he needed that drink a bit more than he admitted.

"You should be proud of her. She is one of kind. I don't know too many children that are that great. She adores you."
Katie would raise an eyebrow as he went on about getting her into a nice suit or dress, even the expression that followed made her worry.
"I'm not into dressing up. I really hate it, ya know?"
It was a rare occasion if she ever did get into something formal. She really couldn't even recall a time that she wore anything formal.
"No..you can't. Plus, you'll want her to become independent. It's not a good thing with her previous situation to keep her hidden from things. She'll have to learn how to handle things on her own."
Reaching the stand she ordered a beer then pointed to Stephen.
"And whatever he wants."

"Yeah... I think we'll be okay. Just gotta take it one day at a time."
He then turned and smirked at Katie. "Surrrre... we'll see, won't we?" he said with a laugh.
He glanced at the bartender. "Gin and tonic, please." He then grabbed a seat and sat down, leaning against the bar, looking back over to Katie.
"You can't honestly tell me you never had to dress up as a kid or something. Nothing at all? No special event wear? Maybe not a tux or a dress, but you know what I mean." he said cheekily.

Katie would simply nod at the conversation about Karin. She really didn't know anything about raising kids, so she really didn't have that much feedback to give on them.
"I do!"
Flustered, she got her beet and took a seat near Stephen.
"Well, maybe as a kid, but I honestly don't remember it if I did. I lived in a city with mostly Amazon women. They thought wearing your armor was considered formal.."
She would laugh lightly as she thought of the many events the village held for the women.

Stephen laughed. "Very well. Never say never though, hehe..."
The drinks came, and the man took a sip of his Gin and Tonic. It tasted good... the lime and the gin and the tonic water was refreshing. Good on a day like this, it gave him a chance to just release. It was always one of those awkward things where it felt good yet he wanted to be careful he didn't get complacent with it, what with the effects of alcohol on the body and all.
Sitting his drink down he sighed and leaned on the bar.
"I dunno... I worry too much sometimes. I wanna take really good care of her, you know? I've got no idea what I'm doing for the most part, and I hope that I'm doing a good job. That kid means the world to me..." he said, letting loose what was on his mind before taking another sip of the drink.
The sky was getting cloudy, it looked like it was about to start sprinkling if not flat out raining. The wind had picked up, but it wasn't too much of an issue since they were under a roof, simplistic though it may be.

"True enough."
Katie would take a swig of her beer, getting comfortable.
"You are taking good care of her, Stephen. I think you worry about her way too much. She'll be fine, trust me. Every kid will go through some tough times, but as long as you're there to help her through she'll do just fine. She's lucky to have you."
Another swig and Katie glanced at the sky.
"Dammit, rain.. I should get going. I don't want to get stuck out here without a place to stay."
She stood while taking another swig of her beer. She was trying to drink it down rather quickly.
"I'll catch you later, Stephen."
And she was off.

Lord Shinathelendros "Okay..."The elf took a breath and then delved right in. "From Sierra's records, and our own re con, we know a fair bit about Victor, his plans and what Ra'kar's interests in these events are. What we don't know, is why Alpha aligned himself with them. In fact, we know almost NOTHING of Alpha..." His gaze focused on Athan, holding his eyes now. "We suspect that there is a second plot. We fear, more serious than Victor's plans alone. Alpha is the clue..."He held his hands wide as he shrugged. "We were hoping, that someone who 'knew' him so to speak... would have some insight as to his motives."Even as they spoke, there was movement at the front room of the house as a young woman let herself in. Her short uniform skirt and tailored jacket gave her away as a member of GUARDIAN to those who recognized it. The crest on the shoulder of her sleeve, marked her as an officer, and the white of her uniform marked her as a member of the healing and supply division. "Hello?"She peeked around the corner, following the sound of voices. Catching sight of the men she straitened and bowed slightly to Shin. Her teal hair framed her face in a fringe and long strands, before being wound into two buns atop her head. Her grey eyes flicked to each of them, as she spoke. "Sorry to interrupt sirs, but I have most of the supplies you arranged for--" She looked at Shin now, "Where should I put them?"The elf nodded at her and glanced over his shoulder. "Where do you want it Vahn?" Vahn Fah He pursed his lips in a somewhat familiar feeling of nervousness that he hadn't felt in a long while. The idea that someone else could be pulling the strings and leading his brother along this damnable path was not exactly comforting. He knew that the Shades in of themselves were corrupt...but other than that he didn't actually know much else. What could be bigger than Victor trying to wipe out the balance of Gaia, decimating the shadow, and forcing light to take everything? Alpha... what are you really after? He lifted his head in the direction of the new voice, even as Shin responded curtly. Vahn made an offhand motion with his hand, indicating vaguely some spot in the room they were in. Athan would be able to go through it all more better than him anyway. Designated Hero "If you want insight on Alpha's motives, you're going to have to put a lot of faith in dreams." Athan had crossed his arms in front of his chest by now, his shoulders resting against the wall nearest the door so he could look at both of the men in front of him at once. So even though Vahn couldn't see, Athan wouldn't feel awkward talking to an audience that wasn't facing him. Athan's dreams were hard to describe, particularly for someone who wasn't exactly eloquent. But, with information being pretty important at this juncture, it looked like the swordsman was going to have to try. "'Cause that's all I have to go off of." He reached up, scratched the back of his head, and took a minute to organize his thoughts. "Alpha's an agent of The Forgotten, some sort of ancient thing that's dead set on turning existence into nothingness. My guess is his goals haven't changed, and he must think that Victor is a means to that end." He shrugged his shoulders. GUARDIAN may not have known much about Alpha, but Athan was equally clueless regarding Victor and Ra'kar's involvement. "He's responsible for dragging at least one civilization down into civil war to achieve that goal, so it doesn't surprise me that he needs help. Just how big a role Victor's playing, though, I couldn't tell you. I just know that when Alpha's involved, The Forgotten can't be too far away." Except there's no Anima...no Moam...not even a half decent army standing in his way.The interruption was just what Athan needed to get his mind off such things. He looked over to the girl, cast a quick glance towards Vahn, then just nodded his head towards the center of the room. "There's fine." Athan wasn't too picky to be picking things up off the floor, but he had to wonder what supplies had been arranged for their unlikely group. Shin's eyes narrowed even as his jaw clenched. His body was rigid with tension as he clenched and unclenched his fists. Athans answers, left him with little than more than MORE questions... 'The Forgotten One?' He felt helpless, out of his 'safe zone' so to speak. He was much better with the hacking and bashing-- the psychological aspect of things was better left to people like "Reiyvian."He said and shifted his weight. While the young woman set down the supplies and left with a quick salute; she would return with the rest of the things they would need shortly. Shin's faced Athan--- he had an idea that the Tyr'kana wouldn't like this idea very much, but it was all he could think of. "She's an ancient; a high priestess to the goddess Liyesha. She is very skilled with the mind and soul-- if you were willing; she could with a touch, see what you have seen. She is one, who is a strong believer in many things, dreams amongst them. As are all my kind."His gaze switched to Vahn, "Vahn will vouch for her I think-- while they might not be fast friends, I think he recognizes her wisdom and gifts all be it grudgingly. With that said, I do believe she was planning on rendezvousing so that she might speak with you anyway Vahn." His eyes flicked back to Athan, and hoped with all hope that he would not reject what could possibly be the only way for them to gain the insight they needed-- "Will you allow us to share your dreams?"

The sun was shining, the air was fresh and crisp and wispy white clouds drifted lazily across the pristine blue skies above Latent although to be truthful not much of the sky was visible in this part of the city as tall buildings of stone and metal lined the streets, none the less it was still a pleasant day and nice days always put Lindy Loki in somewhat of an energetic mood. She inhaled deeply as she walked past a bakery breathing in the sweet smells of fresh baked bread she exhaled a smile, today was going to be an excellent day she could tell already. Opening her eyes wide she set to work searching, she had to find just the right person with just the right sort of item, something special since today was a particularly nice day, she wasn’t going to steal from just anyone after all today was going to be a good day she already knew it.
Her painted red lips curling in a small and somewhat enigmatic knowing smile as her violet eyes moved from person to person, a woman with a tiny handbag dangling from a flimsy thin strap, a man with an extravagant gold pocket watch on display at his waist, a woman whose wrists jingled as she walked, weighed down by so much jewellery. Lindy walked past them all there was nothing special about these trinkets, nothing that really grabbed her attention. She ran her fingers through her almost fluffy short snow white hair and without even thinking began humming softly a slow sweet melody for which she had forgotten the words, at this moment she could think of almost nothing that could spoil her good mood and her fortunes were only going to improve once she found her next target.

I just love early morning markets.Maximos said to absolutely no one at all. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, so much more than anyone could ask for. And Maximos was currently engaged in one of his personal hobbies. Shopping. Not clothes, not jewelry, not shoes. But books, tomes, magical things, the shops less advertised but still entirely present if you knew where to look. The supernatural did so love to hide from the mundane. Though it had a real pension for hiding in plain sight, finding it was a quest. Finding it was Maximos' quest. And he was enjoying his questing, blissfully enraptured in it. So enraptured that time had escaped him, it was only when he realized that, that he reached for time itself in order to check it. Which is to say that Max pulled the silver chain hanging from his belt and from his pants pocket slipped his pocketwatch. Now this was no ordinary watch, not only did it allow you to see its intense intricate workings, and beautiful outside. But inside, it was so much more than just a watch. It told the time, yes, but it also told the weather, on a small dial, the date, and even the time of day with a small sun and moon emblem. The sun was currently showing. Yes, much like the objects of his quest, this watch was everything. And it was a gift that meant everything to him. And if it would not have earned him a few more than odd glances, Maximos would have cuddled the time piece right there and then. But instead, he flipped it over revealing the constant flow of blue sand that was the small hourglass built into the watch's back. Not digital of course, Max would never have handled such steel magic, no, actual blue sand flowed grain by grain and told him that Shadow Island would be back around in what he assumed would be roughly an hour. And then, cheerfully, blissfully, ignorantly, he slipped the watch into his pocket and continued shopping.
