Rose and her Persian approachec one of the burglars, and the man called out a Sliggoo, seeming ful of himself.
"Use Play rough" Rose orderednot allowing him the time to gloat that he seemed to wish to do.
The fairy type attack struck Sliggoo and it was knocked atouned, then thrown into a wall, knocked out.
The burglar called back Sliggoo and sent out Gabite, and Persian promptly attacked with Pay Day before even receiving an order. (+250 PD)
"Use Play rough" she ordered.
"Draco meteor" the burglar ordered.
Persian was too fast, and once moire was striking with the Fairy-type attack , and Gabite was throne into the same wall, knocked out.
Gabite was replaced by the burglars last pokemon, a Kadabra.
Rose thought quickly "Foul Play!" Rose ordered.
Once more Persian used it's superior speed to attack first with a supereffective move, and like before her foe was defeated with that one attack.

Caleb grimaced. He clearly hadn't been expecting to fight anyone that day.
"Let's get his over with..." he said as one moved in front of them.
"What? Do you have somewhere you need to be?" the guy retorted, adjusting his pink bandana.
"No...but you and your raggedy clothes sure do..." Caleb shrugged.
The guy just scowled before sending out a Glameow. Caleb answered in turn by letting out his Trapinch. Before Caleb could even give her a command, the Trapinch rushed forward and clamped down on the Glameow's tail. The cat hissed and howled as it tried to get Caleb's pokemon to let go.
"Don't you know how to control your own pokemon?" the bandit taunted.
"Yeah. Like this. Use Superpower!" Caleb called.
The Trapinch moved back before taking a stance. Her body glowed a bright blue aura. She then rushed forward, tackling the Glameow. The feline pokemon was sent flying. It caught it's balance after falling before staggering and collapsing.
The bandit muttered something before letting out his next pokemon. The Croagunk just stood there hunched over, waiting to make a move. Caleb called back his Trapinch before sending out Axew to replace it.
"Use Dragon Rage!" Caleb ordered. The Axew huffed before she reared her head back. A light blue orb of energy formed in her throat before she brought her head forward and fired a blast of blue and black energy.
"Revenge," the bandit ordered after the Croagunk had somewhat recovered from the hit. It leapt forward and hit Axew in the jaw with a webbed fist. The little dragon pokemon grunted from the hit before swinging one of her little clawed hands at it. The Croagunk wobbled a bit.
The bandit complained about how it just wasn't his day. For a second Caleb thought that maybe the battle was over. Perhaps he could just go back to relaxing. To his dismay, the guy had another pokemon. The Growlithe barked and wagged it's tail. Caleb sighed, feeling a little sorry for the puppy. He recalled his Axew before letting out his Mudkip.
"Use Water Gu-" Caleb began, only to get cut off by the bandit.
"Use Roar!" The guy ordered.
Caleb grimaced as Mudkip went back into his poke ball and Togepi was sent out. The Togepi blinked before looking around and then looking back at Caleb.
Caleb shook his head, "use Metrenome."
The Togepi nodded before waving his little hands back and forth. Before the bandit could get his Growlithe to use Roar again, or any other move for that matter, Togepi formed an orb of water in front of his mouth and then fired a powerful jet of water at the Growlithe and it's trainer. They were both sent backwards. After the Togepi had stopped with the water, the two scrambled up and ran away.
"Very nice..." Caleb whistled.

Rei looked at a scrawny bandanna-wearing youth. He frowned.
"Really? You're stealing from a derby? Do you seriously have nothing better to do?"
"You're the one challenging me to a fight. Do you have nothing better to do than pick fights on young, fashionable people?" Rei huffed. Perhaps the lad had a point.
"Well, I could've been enjoying a juicy burger right now. Jerk."
"Old fart."
"Stupid whelp."
"Cranky coot."
"Screw this. Gex, fight him." The Treecko hopped out from its Poké Ball and turned to face the Flare flunk. Rei grinned at the young man.
"If I win, you owe me a burger." The man sneered at him.
"And what makes you think I'll stick around long enough for that?"
Rei shrugged. "Assuming I win, I could just have my Pokémon subdue you until the cops show up. I guess that'll be ok with me, too."
The man grumbled. "Fine. But if I win, all your money is mine. And then I'll eat a burger in your lousy, defeated face. Hmph. Spinarak, come on out. Pin Missile."
The Treecko slammed its fist into Spinarak's face, and the spider responded by repeatedly jamming its horned head into Treecko's underbelly. Rei winced; he should have known better than to send out the Pokémon first. He withdrew Treecko and sent out his Vulpix.
"Flamethrower, now!" The Vulpix spat out a stream of fire at the bug, who was too slow to avoid it. The unfortunate Bug-type passed out, and was replaced with an Oshawott. Barely fast enough to get a hit in, Vulpix threw caution to the wind and sent out a Confuse Ray. The confused Oshawott blinked rapidly, as if to shake away the blinding lights dancing in its vision, but was unsuccessful. It sprayed water against a bush instead. The Vulpix was quick to spit out a barrage of blue flames against the Oshawott, immediately burning it despite its resistance to fire. The Oshawott, now blinded and in pain, lashed out in the hopes of making contact with its enemy, but only hit a rock instead.
"Hex, quick, before it shakes the confusion off!" The Vulpix's eyes glowed purple, and it sent waves of energy out at the Oshawott. It took the hit, its mind cleared. The Oshawott grinned and fired a pulse of water at the Vulpix. The two struggled to remain standing, but Oshawott attacked first, going at blinding by surrounding itself with water and then tackling the Vulpix to the ground. Exhausted, it succumbed to its burns.
Rei sighed. "Ah well, Vulpix, you did good." He recalled it quickly and sent out a Gible. The goon hesitantly pulled out his last Pokémon, a Tepig. Rei laughed.
"Looks like I win this one. Menart, dig underground." The Gible was happy to oblige, smacking its lips at the idea of sinking its teeth into the plump fire pig. The grunt shook in anger; he knew the fight was soon over.
"Tepig, Defense Curl!" The pig rolled up into a tight ball, ready to attack. The Gible leaped from the ground and chomped down on the Tepig, but wasn't able to immediately defeat it.
"Now, Tepig, Rollout!" The prepared Tepig rammed itself into a surprised Gible, stunning it long enough to get another hit in before the land shark disappeared into the ground once more. The two Pokémon clashed, but only one was able to stay standing after the assault.
The youth was defeated. He recalled his Tepig and grumbled. Rei gestured to the Miltank Burger stand.
"Well, a bet's a bet. Would you like me to send out a Scyther, or are you gonna go along with our deal?" The young man hung his head and trudged towards the stand, paid for a Super Miltank Deluxe burger, and walked away in shame. Rei couldn't get the grin off his face.
At his belt, a Poké Ball shook. Inkay received another experience point. It was a good fight, Rei decided while he chomped down on the burger. The kid was pretty tough, all things considered.

*I catch up to a bandit*
Me: Stop with that money!
B: Not gonna happen. Heracross, go!
*The fighting bug appears*
Me: Kadabra, go!
*My mustached shrew appears from its PokéBall*
Me: Confusion.
*Psychic energys confound Heracross, doing good damage*
B: Chip away!
*Heracross goes in and hits Kadabra under the chin, hurting him badly*
Me: Confusion again.
*Heracross goes down to the confounding effects going on around it*
B: Pachirisu, go!
*The electric squirrel comes out*
B: Quick Attack!
*Parichisu quickly goes in and hits Kadabra, KOing him*
Me: Kadabra return, Rhyhorn, go!
*The stone bull takes Kadabra's place*
B: Superfang!
*The squirrel just bites through Rhyhorn's shell, and takes half his energy*
Me: Bulldoze.
*Rhyhorn slams into the ground, sending a wave of dirt at the squirrel, slowing it down and hurting it badly*
B: Superfang again!
*The squirrel takes down more of Rhyhorns health*
Me: Bulldoze again!
*The second stream of rocks takes down Parichisu*
B: Meditite go!
*The psychic fighter shows up*
B: Ice Punch!
*An icy punch takes Rhyhorn down*
Me: Rhyhorn, return. Ghastly go!
*The gaseous Pokémon takes Rhyhorns place*
Me: Curse.
*Ghastly sacrifices half of its health to curse Meditite*
B: Psycho Cut!
*A psychic blade goes and critically KOs Ghastly, while Meditite is hurt by the curse*
Me: Bulbasaur, go!
*Bulbasaur takes Ghastly's place*
Me: Protect!
B: Ice Punch!
*Just in the nick of time, Bulbasaur protects itself as an Ice Punch comes its way*
*Meditite is afflicted by the curse*
Me: Now Razor Leaf!
B: Ice Punch!
*Meditite attacks with a cold fist, doing good damage to Bulbasaur*
*Bulbasaur responds by slashing with sharp leaves*
*Medicham is afflicted by the curse*
Me: Protect!
B: Ice Pun- crap.
*An ice punch is stopped by the protective shield, and Meditite faints to the curse*
B: Bunnelby, go!
*The rabbit appears*
B: Mud slap!
*The bunny kicks up some mud and Bulbasaur goes down*
Me: Swinub, go!
*The icy floor mop appears, taking Bulbasaurs place*
Me: Icy wind!
*Some light snow hurts Bunnelby and slows it down*
B: Double Kick!
*A couple of swift kick severely hurts Swinub*
Me: Ice Shard!
*Swinub goes in for a quick attack, hurting it some more*
B: Kick it again.
*The second set of kicks takes Swinub down*
Me: Wartortle, go!
*Swinub disappears in a pale red light, and in its place, the water turtle*
Me: Water gun.
*The stream of water takes down the rabbit*
Me: Now return the money, or get an angry turtle in your face.
B: Uh... Yes sir, right away sir!
*We head back to the races*

After defeating her Bandit, Rose rejoined with the others and followed Brian to return the money, then they went to their seats to watch the race.

*I quickly get myself lost in the crowd*

Caleb blinked and looked around. The other Aqua members had disappeared just as soon as police lights had flashed on the scene. Most of them at least. He sighed and scooped up his Togepi before going over to the concession stands. It was probably better to lay low anyways. Not to mention battling had worked up an appetite!

Once the money was recovered and Brian returned it, Rose, following Brian's example, slipped into the crown to disappear and she headed towards the stands, hoping the race would still be held.

Rei ignored the flashing lights and continued to enjoy his burger. It was just too good! The taste of free food and victory. He returned to his seat, the security largely ignoring him.

A roar erupted from the crowd. EternalHoof won the race! Rei sighed.
"Well, at least I got a ridiculously good burger out of this." He grinned. "This was fun."

Caleb returned just as the race was about to end. He was busy eating a funnel cake while he broke off pieces of a pretzel and passed them over to his Togepi. The egg pokemon was peeking out of his backpack. It graciously accepted each piece of the salty treat.
Caleb's eyes got big as the Skiddo's crossed the finish line and the winner was announced.
"I actually won..." he said, a bit muffled from the cooked dough and powdered sugar.

*As the crowds clear out a man with a 10-gallon hat and a neck-lanyard approaches me*
Me: Can I help you?
Derby Organizer: I dare-say you already have, with stopping the bandits and all that.
Me: I don't know what you mean.
DO: I'm sure you do. And for you and your friends, I'd like to offer some small sign of gratitude.
Me: Of what kind?
DO: I knew you were the folks. Well, I'd like to offer you all back full prices of your bets, as well as a young Skiddo each. You see we have to breed a lot of Skiddo for these races, so there plenty that just don't make the cut.
Me: Well thank you sir.
*I stake hands with the organizer, and then he hands me a small pile of money a few PokéBalls*
Me: Well, I'm heading back.
*I head back to the hotel*
REWARDS: 1000PD and a Skiddo

Rei patted Caleb on the back on the way to the hotel.
"Congrats, Caleb. Good to know at least one member of Team Aqua has luck on their side." He flashed a grin his way before looking up at the sky.
"Well, today turned out to be a pretty good day, despite the bandit group." He looked down at a Net Ball that held his Scyther, Yami, then turned to face Caleb.
"Actually... I hope this isn't a bother, but would you mind helping me out with something? I've been wanting to evolve my Scyther for a while. He and I agree it's a good idea. I just haven't got the chance to ask anyone to do a trade and trade-back. And I didn't want to complete the trade with a random stranger in Kalos, so..." Rei's voice trailed off. He knew it was an inconvenience to ask so abruptly, but he didn't want to let his Scyther down.
