Would a chainsaw be too powerful of a weapon for the tournament?

Old Man KB Sorry? I just know from experience that when there's a conflict between a guy and a girl, the girl guy will give in if the guy is nice to her girl smiles at him. BIOLOGY 101. fixed.

Can you explain how you plan to use a chainsaw without endangering someone's life? No? Then no, you can't use a chainsaw.

The Haelstrom Fist Nah. Plenty of s**t can go wrong with a chainsaw, I'd say fair game actually. Even if it had a diamond-tipped chain, and is powered by a one liter turbocharged v-twin?

That would be like saying someone couldn't have a sword because it could kill them if it got swung at them. You'd just have to use the same caution you use when using a sword for your character. Aim to cripple, not to kill, and obviously you couldn't just smash it into their stomach and rev it up.

Shut up, Striker.
With a sword you can simply dull the blade, if you want to take it that far. More then that though, a sword is all about control. It's only as effective a weapon as you make it, much like a knife.
If you aim to kill someone with a sword or a knife and you have sufficient skill, you'll manage it. There are methods of knifefighting or swordfighting that aren't lethal however, even with live steel.
The difference between a sword and a chainsaw is the same between any non-powered weapon and a gun.

The first would be reeeealy stupid with a chain capable of, and actually had before the tournament, cut granite blocks. The second idea could actually work, though my character would probably then use it as a 140+ pound club that he could actually swing with a fair amount of force, or use his pickax as a backup The third would be kinda hard to do, since the saw would naturally have a chain brake.

I'm not seeing your argument for once in my life, Ken. You say control, which obviously, people and characters have to exercise that NOT to cleave their opponent in two. Vince struggles with that, that's why his sword usually gets discarded.
I'm sure if anyone was willing to put a chainsaw into their profile and it got accepted, it would be used for maiming and crippling an enemy, NOT killing them.
