Sorry, I only meant that I wasn't doing anything above and beyond my job description, just working more hours as needs demanded.
It can be rewarding work, helping people. My area is a kind of customer service in many respects.
Is Hercules a Transformers set?

Hercules is a set of toys not from Hasbro or Takara (those that hold the copyrights). Instead, they are made by TFC toys, a 3rd party. Because of that, they can devote more time to their toys being a smaller more specialized company. the downside of that is the extra work makes them more expensive. So, for a toy between the size of a $15 and $20 toy off the shelf . . . it costs about $50. A massive cost, but generally worth it. Not too long ago (about 3 years) multiple companies came out with their own interpretations of Devastator. Assuming you are not familiar, he was a combination of a set of themed vehicles. The first combiner, made of construction vehicles. Back in Generation 1 (G1), articulation was not an issue. The guys looked okay, and maybe could move their arms. The 3rd party have highly articulated figures both in combined an individual forms.
Sale set of all six in a single go
Youtube reviews of the individuals (actually kinda entertaining) Structor / Scrapper, (usually) the leader, a modest but masterful designer - front-end loader.
Bonecrusher, a destructive berserker - bulldozer (and later front-end loader).
Exgraver / Scavenger, who has some major self-esteem issues - power shovel.
Heavy Labor / Long Haul, a hard-working transporter who longs to be on the battlefield - dump truck.
MadBlender / Mixmaster, a manic and somewhat crazed chemist - cement mixer.
Dr. Crank / Hook, a snobbishly perfectionist engineer - crane.

Ah, I understand now.
The combined one looks kind of like the main mech from Evangelion.

These are the two that came out at the same time and really opened up the floodgates of 3rd party toys for me. After a lot of thought, I really do enjoy the idea of having Hercules (the one on the left), not so much of Giant (the one on the right).

I o notice minor difference upon closer inspection, but I'm amazed they aren't different renditions of the same character given how similar they appear to me.

Actually, they are. They are both of the same character "Devastator." The difference is in the engineering (how the toys transform and combine). Made by two different companies, they are competing. Since these were made, several other combiners have been made, with more on the way.

Oh, so they are the Hercules and Giant models of Devastator, then. That makes more sense.
Era 4 of the setting is still coming. I got sidetracked by anime since I have to work more closely w/ my DM on the details of Era 4 due to it containing a lot of plot he wrote.

yeah, they have made revamped versions of Predaking as well, one team has made Menasor, and I am hearing rumblings of a Bruticus. On a far smaller scale, they have also remade Reflector (3 robots into one camera) as well
As for the eras, don't worry. When you get them to me, I will gladly read them and give an honest opinion. ^_^ No rush.

Predaking looks pretty cool. Does Reflector actually have a combat use (I assume all TFs are designed for combat, so do correct if me if I'm wrong)?
Okay, thanks.

Well, there you get into a lot of semantics. I firmly believe that back on their homeworld of Cybertron, it isn't in disguise. No. People are known for their altmodes and bot modes, so there is no disguise. Instead, it is reorganizing your parts into something else. For Reflector, he was for espionage. Telescopic lens, some mass shifting, and you have a team of three that are made to gather intel. Not so much for blasting holes in others (though they can), and more for getting secrets.

Yeah, I have caught myself making excuses for some of the "cybertronian" modes from the game and toys. for instance, from the Fall of Cybertron game, Starscream had a toy made, and the head is clearly visible in vehicle mode. Rather than be upset, I rationalized that it wasn't about camoflauge. It was the idea of "if I take the power output normally sent to my legs, and turned it into thrust, I could achieve flight" or "if I put actuators from my arms and legs into a motor, I could drive faster than I could ever run." Using that logic, exactly what would a cerebral unit be able to do? You'd still need a main processor to think and evaluate data. Thus, the head just needs to be put somewhere out of the way. It won't always be inside the alternate form.
Yeah, I've thought about this far too much.

There's nothing wrong w/ rationalizing such design decisions, whether or not they were intended or solely as a result of how the toy was designed.
