How about the group has to defeat the Avatar? Like this one was corrupted and is tyrannical and our characters have to defeat him so we can move on to the next avatar.

@ Pen: :O! That's actually a pretty good idea- Because not all of the Avatars were good guys (If I remember right?).

Plus, the only Avatar I can't think that did something "bad" was Kioshi, the Female earthbending Avatar. She killed a Conqueror who was threating to destroy her island home. However before hand she did ask him to stop. He didn't. So she pushed him off a cliff...it was all in the Episode "Avatar Day".
I really like my energy benders ideas. Where there is a nutcase group of energy benders who decide that the only way to stop all the fighting between the bending Nations is to plug up all the energy that allows bender to well bend. If you have no idea what I'm talking about re-watch the last episode...near the end of the fight between Aang and the Firelord. It was the Creators way of keeping this PG-13 and not killing the Firelord...which was kinda disappointing since seeing all the kick assness of Aang in Avatar State!

@ Aly: This is the only time you'll ever hear me say "******** Nickelodeon" lol!! It's when they don't kill people off! XD
About the Energy Benders: It's actually an interesting concept!

Styk: Oh, is zat whatcha ment? well they had like tanks and zeppelins in the original series, but no guns, cannons controlled by fire bending are ok, but no guns.
Pen: I like that, kinda gets rid of the need to make the avatar the main character
Tique: we can have that too, multiple enemies are good stuff.

True...Skotti, very true. I kinda wonder though, before the war. Were they're schools that served all four elements, teaching the water bender the waterbending. But also teaching the other useful stuff, like meditation, herbal medicines, and stuff.

Well I believe they had a school for each bending style for each nation. Northpole had one. The school in Toph's hometown and then the fire nation school. Yea I think they have them.
A bending academy however that teaches all four, I don't think they did.

I like the idea of energy benders, and an evil avatar, and the bending academy.
The only thing I am wondering is WHEN does this take place. If it is after Aang, how do we develop the idea that there are more air benders? Wouldn't they all have to be descendants of Aang? Which would be interesting. How far into the future would we go?
And... the culture of the Air Benders has kinda ended... unless Aang rebuilt the idea of monks, Air Benders could be a completely different type of people... from what Aang built.
Going back would be hard too, because as far as we know, there was peace up till Sozin Plus we would have to go 4 avatars back to ones that were not in the original series. AND the energy bender idea didn't happen until Aang.

@ Skotti: Exactly what I meant!
@ Pen &/or Skotti: About the attire, does it have to be similar to the show, or can we add a slight modern touch to that, too?- Kinda like how it is in CoA.

I vote long after Aang. I actually have been thinking that even if the nomads were ambushed and destroyed they couldn't have possibly got each one. There would have to be a few and living in hiding or were born after the raids.
However to go the other route long before Aang and the four nations still living in harmony, is still an option that I wouldn't mind. We then don't have a previous history with Aang getting in the way of our own story.
Edit: I would think there is some liberty as long it still echoes The Avatar. I don't see why we couldn't add a little modern feel.

Styk: Attire should be like the show, with a lot more asian influence than CoA
KD: I think we are going for AFTER Aang

If its any consolation Styk I was just going skip the tektek and just draw one up. A little more freedom that way and getting the style of clothes will be way easier. Actually I'm kinda pumped to start drawing it up.

@ Pen: redface I can't really draw, either- I can draw roses perfectly, buuuuuut I can't draw people. I just have a lot of trouble with the Asian-Inspired stuff. I've never done anything Asian before, and with Steampunk possibly going to be in the mix. . Yeeeeaaahhhhh lol. Never knew what Steampunk was until, like, two years ago and even then I couldn't come up with anything swank.

Well look at the characters and see how they are dressed. A little on the baggy side with a arrangement of sashes. If you like I can try to do rough sketch of yours as well. Just need the description. Or you can try tektek and see what they get.
