Yep. Storm Bolters are too big for even Marines to get extra attacks from, unless it's one of those miniaturized wrist-mounted ones used by the Grey Knights.

He can take two 2-handed weapons (storm bolter and relic blade, or two relic blades for fun!) but won't get any combat bonuses for it.

Fun thing is that you can give him two combi-weapons. ;D

That's pretty tempting tho'... Two combi flamers... Or two combi-melta... <3

Anyways Neogoth, characters nowdays can carry as many weapons as their codexes allow, like I've said before a Captain of the Dark Angels can have ALOT of weapons... Even ork big meks can have several, swapping his choppa for a powerklaw and his slugga for mega armour (also includes powerklaw and kombi-shoota, only legal way for an ork to have 2 klaws/fists).

These rules for weapons nowdays gives modellers some neat conversion opportunities.

Dude...Two Combi-Meltas...I'd just model a badass looking Commander's Bolter and give him something like two Meltaguns mounted on a harness over his shoulder. Oooh...Iron Hands Captain...

Not very useful? Who cares if it is? :'DDD

He's still able to use a melta shot 2 times during the game rather than one, and as said it leaves cool modelling opportunities, would be way more characterful than every other marine characters.

Hmmm...
I wonder...
do 5th ED rues allow me to make my Chapter masters Guardian Spear a Storm-bolter/relic blade...
it is pretty much two handed.... confused
me, I have a conversion of a techmarine veteran....
who has no legs. well...he has..mechanodrite legs. basically. yea.
A Servo arm, Mechanodrite legs, and combi-melta/powersword. he's a points beast.
But then again, I've made an dark angels marine dual wielding plasma pistol and rifle.....
and taken typhoon missiles and put them on a spare Razorback weapons platform....yea.
I feel Insane. Oh so Insane. twisted
And, I wish to see this melta-beast.
And a dual-y Relic bladed commander? where do I sign up!

I just had a great idea on how to model the "melta-beast." Give him his badass bolter in one hand, and then model the other hand with either:

A special CCW akin to the Brazier of Holy Flame (?) for the Sisters with a melta tube on the end.

A special mounting on the back of the hand with both tubes and fuel lines running to a large canister on his back.

awedammit
oh well, 3 attacks with a powersword is still mean XD

while were so on the topic of masters/captains etc...
im planning on buying another commander kit, does anyone have any input on what would be 1. the best tank hunting gear he can have (including stuff from the armory like adamantine mantle, etc) 2. best all-around-gear (preferably for the stronger weapon, for tank hunting, i guess itll be a melta, if theres any multi-shot melta that'd be cool) 3. and a non-flamer equipped infantry hunter (i hate flamers, and i dont have a template, so i couldnt use it anyway, but i do love blast weapons XD)

What surely sucks for marines is the lack of Terminator Honours...

I feel bad when facing Marines with my orks... Due to the hoards of attacks I unleash upon them while getting barely anything that fights back to me... D:

Shin: your players doinitrong.
Neo: As I hold the Codex in front me (vanilla codex, mind you)
I can see someone doing this...
Space marine captain/master:
Combi-melta right hand
Integral melta in left, with powerfist
Jump pack
Artificer Armour
auxiliary grenade launcher
Uses Kraken and Dragonfire bolts.
this is assuming your opponent will allow to use an integrated powerfist/melta,
and allow your HQ to use Sterngard Shells.
All this regardless, it would be deliciously anti tank.
For kicks and giggles, I would also give him an Honour guard/Command squad
made of pure lascannons and meltas.
"Im sorry, but you really shouldn't even field any tanks..."

Damn right they're doing it wrong!

Apart from the local Crimson fist marine players... They loose their men with pride! For some miraculous reason they end up on a hill with their commander and a handful of Space Marines being surrounded by my orks! AND I LOVE WHEN THAT HAPPENS! Sure I'm often the victor in those games by the rulebook, but I see those guys as the moral victors, managing to give me some of the best games in my life.

Melta-beast is waste imho, you get only 2 shots for the whole game and sacrifice any serious hth capacity.
I'd love to see a gunslinger marine with 2 plasma pistols, if any rules bonus could be made in place, even counting them as linked, or as power weapon i hth...
