((Public speaking for assessment sucks. It's roughly half of my assessment so I know what I'm talking about.

Luckily I'm pretty good at it.

What kind of speech is it?))

"I'm back guys. I got breakfasts for everyone right here," Wayne said, three large tins of pokémon food clasped against his chest, "we don't have any bowls or anything so you're gonna have to improvise."

Improvise using the stone flag footpath in the middle of a busy park. If he acted discreetly, people would probably just think that the brown smears left behind was pokémon crap and steer clear of it; Wayne would definitely have to leave the area at any rate.

"I hope you guys enjoy this," Wayne shook up a can, opened it and slopped the contents onto the floor in a big, pludgey pile, "cause this is like, the last of our cash. We're gonna have to make some serious money today if we wanna eat tonight."

Wayne had no idea where Kero's place was and calling Zack or Elizabeth for help was chickening out of being a real trainer, he thought. Solosis rolled over to the second pile of food and Petilil got the third. Wayne was just wondering how Hitmonlee ate without a mouth, but by the time he turned around to check, the fight type had already finished. Weird.

"Back to training, I guess," Wayne muttered to himself, "so, first act of business is gonna be seeing how fast we can run from here to like, waaaay over there."

-

"Oh man," the trainer spluttered when they all finally ground to a stop, "that was like, oh man. I can't believe I lost."

Solosis settled down from telekinetic levitation, Petilil stopped scurrying and Hitmonlee's legs slowly settled to their normal length. Wayne came a distant last. It was okay. They were the ones who were gonna be fighting anyway.

"This park is way too big to be fair," he whipped out his pokédex, "seriously, who needs this much grass? Okay, so Solosis, next up for you is Charm-yeah I don't think so- err, Recover. Yeah, we're gonna abuse the s**t out of this one."

He cleared his throat and flicked through a few dex pages, "Petilil, you've gotta learn Stun Spore next. That's sorta like Sleep Powder but you mess with nerves and stuff. So it's way cooler than Sleep Powder. I think you could learn that one pretty easily."

Finally, "Hitmonlee, Hitmonlee... you know I'd reaaalllly like for you to learn Blaze Kick but that's apparently too hard for you still. Right. I guess you can continue combining moves, like, go master Meditate while kicking stuff. We'll put you in some battles, blah blah blah."

The trainer grinned. Glad to get that out of the way. "Everyone clear on what they're doing?"

Solosis shook his self.

"No? Oh right. You gotta get hurt before you can recover. That's cool. Hitmonlee, kick Solosis in the face."

The psychic barely had time to freak out before getting kicked into a tree. He slammed against the bark and slowly peeled off, splattering on the grass with a membrany squelch.

"Okay, Solosis!" Wayne yelled over, "Now try turning your brain waves into heal waves! It'll totally work! You just gotta believe!"

---

Zack only allowed himself a fleeting look of surprise. He carried on to the end of the pier and gave Jump a smirking frown.

"Here I thought I'd be waiting for hours. What the hell are you doing awake before noon?" Zack said, putting his hands in his pockets. He glanced over at the fishermen and possibly fisherwomen then back to Jump.

"They shouldn't be capable of overhearing. Did you speak to Wayne?"

((It's a rhetorical analysis of a speech, but luckily the subject is my choice. So I chose Stephen Colbert's speech at the White House in 2006. It's not that I'm bad at public speaking, it's just that I haven't watched that speech in forever. So really it's just me being lazy.

The next time I decide to spend twenty minutes to watch One Piece, I'll just watch Colbert's speech instead razz And then bam. The work shall do itself.))

Yana frowned as she watched Wayne train his pokemon. At first it was cute when they ran across the park together. And then Hitmonlee kicked Solosis in the face. "He might just be an idiot..."

But she had seen enough of his methods. Now she needed to gauge his character.

She stood up, brushing down her skirt before strolling from the fountain over to where Wayne stood. Yana spun the parasol on her shoulder while approaching. The Parasol Girl tried to muster up a flirtatious smile, but it came across as slightly cold.

"That's an interesting method of training you have there," she said to Wayne while walking over. Her hips swung a little as she settled in place.

"Do you mind if I watch?"

****

"Yo, I may be a late sleeper, but this is the city that never sleeps." Jump snapped his fingers rhythmically. "You gotta keep up with the times, you know?" He sat down on a short column jutting out of the dock, looking out into the ocean.

"I haven't seen Wayne yet. I figured I'd catch him after you and me talked. Kiedis told me he and Hexum saw Wayne yesterday in the Pinwheel Forest, though. With a bunch of girls. Looks like he may take after his Uncle Jump."

He paused.

"You know. Because he's a player? Or he might be. Doesn't he have a girlfriend or something? Well, whatever. Anyway, get a load of this."

The Interpol Agent took out a folded up flyer from his pocket. He opened it up, revealing an invitation to the Team Plasma Banquet in the new Plasma Embassy later that night. It was open to people of all ages as long as there was still capacity, and as long as the guests dressed formally.

"Have you seen these? People have been givin' 'em out all over the streets. Definitely just a publicity stunt. Do you have a tux? We should totally crash this party."

****

The first thing that she had to get used to was having two modes of sight: through her eyes, and through her fur.

Salem found that in this body, her fur was sensitive to any changes in the air currents. From people shifting slightly to changes in atmospheric pressure. She couldn’t comprehend the more complex feelings, but she knew she felt people moving around. To the point where she could predict their motions.

The Espeon darted expertly through the masses of legs going down the streets. She had no idea where she was running to, but she wouldn’t stop until she got too tired to move. Her head was bowed down as tears streamed into the wind behind her.

She was done with Salieri. To be thought of as a monster, because of things out of her control…it was too much to bear all of those feelings at once. Salem knew the city like the back of her hand.

Maybe I should have never left… she thought as she shifted her body lower, casually moving out of the way to avoid being struck by the coin Fleya had thrown. It whizzed by her, but she paid it no mind as she kept running. It was slow to her, anyhow.

Not a minute later, Salieri skidded to a halt where the coin was laying on the ground. She bent over, resting her hands on her knees, panting while looking into the distance.

“So fast…damn fast….” If she was going to find Salem, she’d need more help. All of her pokemon were scattered around the city, though. Wukong was the closest to her, then Chen Zhen and Liuye Dao.

Once again, she looked to the Frillish’s pokeball on her belt. Now would have been a good time to use him, but she didn’t have another pokemon to protect her if things went wrong.

The Battle Girl clenched her teeth. This was so stupid. And all her fault. Salem…I didn’t mean it….did I?

The prospect of having a Psychic type on her team was foreign to Salieri. She didn’t know how to be responsible for that kind of power. And truthfully, she was a little scared of what Salem had become when she had first seen her.

But she had felt Salem’s feelings too, and she was still the same. Nothing had changed. The Battle Girl grunted, angry at herself for being so judgemental. And if she didn’t fix it soon…

“I need to find Wukong,” she muttered to herself. Now temporarily rested up, she began to sprint again, this time going down towards Fleya’s direction. She’d run past the pickpocket quickly in her efforts to find the Gamefreak Building.

((One Piece sounds better though. Is it up to the Fishman Island arc yet?))

Wayne looked Yana up and down then squinted slightly, "Y'know, if a guy tried that line, he'd get told where to go." He gestured towards the distance, "Away. That's where. But sure, you can watch if you want."

He grinned, "Nothing special, I mean, training is just one of those necessary things for an expert trainer like myself. It's sorta what we're named after. And these guys? They're pretty good too-- OH s**t"

Solosis was in the middle of tearing up a tree like an angry dentist might do a tooth. The roots were showing, still desperately clinging to soil and snapping one by one. Hitmonlee took a step back. Solosis looked more than a little pissed off.

"Solosis, do not use that tree like a club!" Wayne shouted, "We've not even thought of a name for doing that ye--" he ducked as the tree swung overhead, Hitmonlee hopping up and placing a foot on the trunk as it flew by. He flipped up and Solosis psychically caught the weight of his weapon (hehe) before bringing it back for another pass.

Hitmonlee closed his eyes, using Meditate to help visualise the oncoming technique. He could probably just kick the damned thing, but this was still training. Not to mention, he wanted to hit it just riiiight.

BAM! His foot connected with the end of the trunk, breaking it out of Solosis's grasp and sending it spinning and crashing back into the grass. Some of the roots found their way back underground while most spread out of the unturned grass like scraggly fingers. The leaves and branches shook to a stop eventually, but the tree seemed to be pretty firmly planted.

[Well ********,] Solosis muttered as Hitmonlee touched down gracefully, [AND my face still hurts!]

"Oh man, I think it's over," Wayne turned back to Yana, "See? We didn't even practice that."

---

Plasma has their own embassy? Where were they from, Plasmadia? Whatever.

"No, but I can get one. I want to meet some of these sages outside of a battle situation, so this should be perfect. It shouldn't be too difficult breaking into their upper floors either."

Though it was unlikely that they kept any sensitive information in the same place that they invited countless strangers, these guys might still be idiots. Couldn't hurt to look.

"Just make sure your aura is suppressed. Gorm might be there and could still recognise us. No need to go drawing any unnecessary attention to ourselves if we can help it."

Luka had made it to the Pokémon Centre. He was out of breath, having run all the way from the Gate to get away from the creepy Ranger guy. He was not sticking around that place for long. Still, he needed to heal up his Pokémon since none of them were in that great shape due to the sand storm and the fights. The gave them to the nurse with a "Thank you so much" and then he went to sit down whilst he waited for them to be healed.

He whipped out his notepad and started jotting a few things down. The key thing he needed to figure out was what he was going to call his new Sandile. In the run to the Centre he had managed to find out that the Sandile was female so he had a few ideas. Gaia or Terra might have worked. But, they didn't feel right. Then an idea came to him. The desert could look beautiful at times, so, Luka decided that he would call his Sandile, Misa.

((Yeah, Zoro just fought Hody. It's way cooler to see Fishman Island in full color, except the filler in this arc is kind of grating. I think they're saving the animation budget for those later fights, but only time will tell.))

As the tree passed overhead, Yana simply ducked it like Wayne did. She didn't seem phased as she stood upright again. With a huff, she blew her bangs away from her eyes, letting her hair settle back into it's typical Parasol Lady cut.

Definitely an idiot.

"Yes. I can see you didn't practice that," she sighed. Now there was an actual smirk on her face, although it was subtle.

She tilted her head to the side, examining the replanted tree. Yana took her sunglasses off and pointed at the tree with them. "You know, tearing up the field in battle could be seen as bad form. Pragmatism doesn't earn you any style points."

The parasol spun on her shoulder, closing and opening as it whirled. Yana tucked the sunglasses into her shirt pocket and tapped a finger to her lips, looking Wayne over. "Although you seem to be more concerned with strength than style. Not that there's anything wrong with that."

****

Jump grinned as he refolded the flyer and put it back into his pocket. "I dunno, I was thinking of making a scene. You know, drink their wine. Take over the music."

He spun around, waltzing with a non existant partner. "Dancing with their ladies. The whole shebang. Activists gets sloppy when they're pissed off. If I play it up, I can get all eyes on me."

The Interpol Agent pointed at Zack. "Which gives you a better chance of sneaking around. I know I should probably be doing the stealth aspect, but I haven't busted a party in ages. Besides, I'll be representing Interpol. Like it or not, if they want to gain our favor then they'll have to put up with my s**t."

Jump scratched his head. This plan was shaky. Whatever. It would be fun. Also drinks would be free. "Hmmm, I don't see how this could possibly go wrong."

****

In the back of the pokemon center, a nurse stood next to a computer. Her green eyes scanned over the data being processed as Luka's pokeballs were literally being scanned. The healing was already done. This scan was for data.

Sachiko wrote down on her clipboard what moves his pokemon knew, as well as their currents statistics. The pink haired woman smiled to herself. If the rest of them bring their pokemon here, I'll be rolling in an intel gold mine.

"Sushiya, can you keep writing this down? I need to go entertain our guest."

To her right was a Jynx, although her appearance differed greatly from a normal one. She was taller and slender, appearing far more humanshape than the average Humanshape pokemon. Her lips, thought still large, didn't cover that much of her face. And her hair was tied back in a high ponytail, save for stray bangs that settled over one half of her face.

"Jynx jynx." Sushiya grabbed the clipboard and pen and continued to write. Sachiko looked in a mirror, making sure her hair was still held in a tight bun.

"Perfect."

And so she would go into the lobby, where Luka was waiting. She held another clipboard in her hand.

"Hello~! The people at Passerby Analytics HQ have asked the nurses in the pokemon center if we'd help them with a trainer survey." She bent over and smiled kindly at Luka, also showing off a deep cleavage through her tight nurse's outfit in the process.

"Would you care to answer a few questions?"

((Cool, cool. I wasn't too satisfied with Fishman Island as a whole but I assume it'd be better as anime. The flashbacks were like 'wow, are they still doing this? It's been 4 chapters already!'))

'Pragma-what?'

"Pragma-what? My guys destroy stuff, okay? This one fight? There was all lava and s**t and my Petilil -her over there- she went and blew the crap outta this monkey and it was awesome."

Wayne cleared his throat. "But yeah, you didn't tell me your name. That usually comes after the pick-up line. Well, assuming it works anyway, which it rarely does."

Solosis blew out and closed his eyes. He may as well make use of his sore face and try to Recover it. He thought to build his psychic power up like he did before exerting it externally and then attempt to rearrange his molecular structure. It was really difficult. All he managed was a kind of soft buzzing where Hitmonlee had kicked him, and when he started to lose control he released the energy as a tiny 'pop'.

"I'm Wayne Lee, by the way. Everyone calls me WL, which you can too if you want. Not like I'm forcing you, but whatever. Y'know?"

Meanwhile, Petilil was trying to mix up the flavour of her Sleep Powder and turn it into Stun Spore. She realised that there was probably a different part of her body that produced the different materials, but she wasn't entirely sure where that was. The powder was sort of like pollen, but she had pretty much no idea what a spore was supposed to be. It was like being told to wave with your right hand when you didn't know your left from your right; you just had to give it a go and hope.

---

"Yeah, a huge distraction is just what we need. That way, if there's any sensitive information up there, it's a huge prompt for them to go hush it up. Perfect. You a**." Zack scowled like a teenager.

"Distractions are a last resort. I was hoping you could use your connections to get me a layout of the building. I'll be doing the breaking in - I doubt Interpol will want you ******** around with a political matter like this. Especially you."

Meanwhile, as an ex-operative and under heavy surveillance, Zack pretty much had immunity from any normal jail just in case he blabbed government secrets. The only ones he wouldn't be automatically bailed out of existed under the government or Interpol's direct authority.

If he got caught, prison would be a token gesture to make Plasma shut up.

"There's a possibility that we might have to kidnap one of their higher-ups. We'll need a safehouse just in case it comes to that." He wasn't joking.

((Fishman Island only came together for me at the end, which was glorious. Not one of the better arcs, though, especially with all the build up before it. But the newest arc is already sweet.))

"WL, huh?" Yana's eyes narrowed, never moving them away from Wayne's. She already got him blabbering. Just part of a woman's charms, she supposed. Or maybe it was just that all men were idiots in front of a pretty girl. This debate always went on in Yana's head. "Mmmm, I'll stick with Wayne. If I call you the same thing everyone else does, then I'll just blend into the crowd."

She took a step forward and lowered her parasol, carelessly spinning it at her side to ward away the stray attempts at Stun Spore. "Now, do you really think a girl would use a pick up line like that? Or are you just particularly confident today?"

Yana shook her head and brushed her hair behind her ears. She was only standing a couple of feet in font of Wayne.

"Or maybe you just hope that's why I came over here. If you can't tell what a girl is thinking when she starts talking to you, how are you going to predict an opponent? Battling and flirtation..."

She let out a short chuckle, quiet and amused. Yana had yet to divulge her name on purpose. It would come in due time, but first she decided she wanted to play with him a bit. Like a cat closing in on it's kill.

****

"Oh, come one. When's the last time I ******** up a-"

Jump paused, then slowly closed his mouth as he recalled all of the political scandals and mishaps he single handedly caused since getting involved with Interpol. It was more than he could count on his fingers and toes. He glared at Zack with contempt, because Zack was entirely right. "Hmph. I hate it when you're right," he mumbled, before bouncing back to his usual chipper self.

"Fine fine, we'll do it your way," he sighed with a handwave. "I can get us a layout of the building this afternoon, and I'll attend the party to represent Interpol and be emergency backup for you. Quietly...I'm drinking their wine, though. Or whatever they have to drink. Now, if we need to stage a kidnapping..."

The Interpol Agent rubbed his chin. He was staying in a hotel that was fairly popular. Not a good place to stash somebody. He had a car, but that wasn't good enough either. Especially since the roof of the convertible didn't always work right. Jump didn't have enough experience in successful kidnappings to have the answers. But he came up with what he thought was a bright idea.

"Oh, oh! Could we bring 'em to your dad's house?" he asked. He wasn't joking either.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 27, 2012 4:17 pm

((I didn't read last week's One Piece. I'm gonna double up on Wednesday, so it'll be twice as sweet))

Wayne shrugged, "I dunno, I just thought you looked up for it, whatever."

Uh oh.

"Not that you look like a slut or anything, it's just... yeah, you're really hot, so I assumed you were horny as well. These things kinda go hand in hand- in my experience at least. Yeah... so to be clear, you're not trying to pick me up, cause, you're really close to me and it's sorta weird that I don't even know your name yet. Err..."

Hitmonlee opened one eye away from his meditation and for a second it met Wayne's. The trainer swallowed. This was getting really awkward really fast.

---

"Not this time. I'm not sure stuffing a hostage in the house of a government commander is a good tactical move. This is only an eventuality anyway; we should get some help. You still work with that girl? What was her name, Opal? Topay?"

He imagined Elizabeth smirking at him and looked away. Listing off names cluelessly sounded stupid, Zack.

"Whatever her name is, see if she can help us out. Everyone will benefit if we find out what Plasma's really up to, one way or another."

Yana blinked wordlessly at Wayne, her dull expression still plastered on her face. Wow.

"Wow." She sighed and shook her head. What to do now? Most people would just walk away. But Yana had a job to do. It was just that her strategy needed rethinking.

"I think what you're trying to say, if I filtered this correctly, is that you think I'm attractive and you want to know my name. Which is sweet once you get past all the demeaning parts. Tell you what."

Yana put the parasol back on her shoulder. "There's a banquet being hosted in the nicer part of the city tonight. Dates aren't required, but I'd rather not have single guys I don't care for bothering me." She bit her bottom lip.

"Because those who find me hot naturally assume I'm horny, apparently. Anyway, I'll tell you my name if you'll be my date. Simple as that."

****

((Zack's got some five o'clock shadow going on? Manly. Draw older Jump! biggrin ))

"T-T-Topaz? Did you mean Topaz?"

Jump stuttered, looking like a deer caught in the headlights. He rubbed the back of his head. "Er, Zack, here's the thing about that...Topaz and I...well we aren't on...we're not really on the best of terms right now..."

He gulped, his face growing redder than a Charizard using Blaze. "She and I...there was a whole thing...ugh."

The Interpol Agent shook his head, mentally snapping himself out of that embarrassment funk to get back to being confident Jump. "I'll call somebody, definitely. We'll have Interpol's support on this job. Maybe even another agent, if we're lucky. And I know a few other people who might be willing to help."

He looked away, pouting.

"Just not her..."

A few people walking down the streets of Castelia decided to stop their stroll in order to watch the sky. Hovering from a window in the Gamefreak Building to the sidewalk was a Monferno. Flames roared from his feet, slowing his descent like landing jets. They turned off when he was about a foot off the ground, and he landed gracefully.

[YES!] bellowed Wukong as those who had stopped before continued on with their day. He had spent the last two hours learning how to jump on the air, and eventually learned how to use Blaze Bound.

The technique was far from perfect, though. He still had trouble controlling the amount of power exerted, making his jumping heights vary. And because he had to use his legs to stabilize himself, he ended up stumbling in midair more often than not.

But he had successfully used it to reach the window of Gamefreak’s Building, and had gotten Moirmoto’s autograph. Maybe. He had just given the notepad to the nearest person and pointed at it. Someone who looked like a janitor scribbled something on it and handed it back to Wukong.

That wasn’t the point, though. The point was that he had proof of his accomplishment. Wukong held up the notepad proudly, puffing up his chest. [Wait until that chimp gets a load of-]

A truck passed by, splashing through a puddle on the side of the road and drenching Wukong. The notepad was ruined. Wukong’s eyes quivered, and then he threw his head back.

[FUUUUUCK THAAAAAT!] he roared, releasing a breath of fire angrily into the air.

“Wukong!”

He stopped to see an exhausted looking Salieri standing next to him. The Monferno gulped and hid the ruined notepad behind his back. [H-hey, Sal. You know, I was just about to keep training, but wouldn’t you know it-]

His arm was practically yanked out of his socket as Salieri grabbed his hand, pulling him along the streets. [Slow down, woman! You’re dislocating my shoulder!]

“We have to find Salem!”

And then she filled him in on the whole situation. From how Salem changed forms to reluctantly explaining why it was all her fault that Salem ran away. “Did you learn how to use Blaze Bound?”

Wukong nodded. [Mostly-]

“Then take to the skies!”

Before Wukong could ask what that meant, he had to close his mouth to not puke up his breakfast while Salieri spun around on her heel. With a massive heave, she hurled the Monferno high into the air and then kept running down the sidewalk. “If you find her, calm her down! And tell her I’m sorry!”

Wukong righted himself in the air and created a small explosion at the base of his feet, launching himself further into the air. He landed on a rooftop and looked down as Salieri ran out of sight.

It must have been a pretty bad ordeal to work her up so much.

Wukong did as he was told, and began to jump from rooftop to rooftop to look for Salem.

((Zack couldn't grow facial hair way back when. Now it's a permanent fixture. And I'd imagine older Jump looks very much like younger Jump but with a stray wrinkle. Unless he drops the ponytail and changes clothes style anyway))

"Sure, going to places I don't know with strangers seems lots of fun. But there better be free food and maybe free clothes because these are all I've got and they're covered in mud."

Wayne drew a hand down to draw attention to the dried on mud from yesterday.

"And I'm completely broke."

---

"Just as long as they're competent. I've seen what you guys are like."

Not much better or worse than their WG equivalents, but Zack didn't think too highly of them either.

((Jokes on you. There was no one piece last week.))

The park was empty. Except for Yana and Wayne and associated Pokemon. It had appeared to clear out suddenly, immediately, totally, other words.

Approaching from the distance were two figures. One wasn't very intimidating, Helena. Famous, dressed up in some fancy gothic styled Victorian clothing. Close to her side? A Scizor. He wasn't a pinkish color - crimson - like most people believed Scizors to be. He'd probably clamp your head off if you decided he was.

The park was empty for a reason, Scizor was intimidating. Not the Pokemon ability, this one stemmed from a killing intent. The Pokemon that belonged to Kero Redgrave did not like people. At all. He would slaughter them all if he could - hence the intent. However, he controlled it. Wayne and Helena wouldn't be able to feel it.

Everyone else? They were screwed.

Anyways, the duo made their way over to Wayne.

Luka looked up at the nurse as she asked about answering a few questions. He did so just in time to flash over her breasts which she had unnervingly close to his face. He tried to hold his gaze on her face but she really was trying to pull his attention to those things. He blushed a little before looking her square in the face and saying, "I'd rather not. Sorry." He got up and walked over to the counter.

"Erm, excuse me? Are my Pokémon ready? It's just they've been an awfully long time and I could've sworn it didn't take this long to heal them up. Is something the matter with them?" Luka was genuinely concerned by this point. He had thought that he would have his Pokémon back with him by the time that he had come up with a name for his new Sandile, but, his name hadn't been called and the nurse interrupting his thought process had reminded him about how long they had been.
