"Mommy says they were smaller and they hid in her sleeves when they were little," Lin replied back as she thought about what Earendil said.

She looked up for a moment thinking about all her siblings and everything. She had only own chldren born from vases so....

"That's all I know.... but I have a funny feeling not everyone is like me."

"I'd be interested in learning more about your world," Earendil commented, stopping them at the landing once again. He raised his hand to the wall, and it glowed blue faintly and opened. He waited for the others to step inside first.

Nina stepped in first with of course Lin on her back.

"Would you?" Lin asked, "Is it that different?"

She couldn't imagine it.

"It sounds like it," Earendil nodded, stepping into the passage after them. He closed the door behind himself and raised his hand, which glowed red now. A dragon appeared on the back of the door again, a serpentine dragon of red fire, that went in a slow circle as if chasing its tail. After a moment, it faded, and the passageway sank into darkness.

Earendil held his hand out, palm outward, and muttered softly in his own tongue, and footsteps appeared glowing blue on the steps: his own footprints, and a set of hooves.

"Hey....." Nina sniffed the tracks, "We left footprints."

Well, her and Earendil did, since Lin had been riding Nina she hadn't left any prints at all.

"It looks like you stepped in something," Lin commented watching the glowing trail.

"No," Earendil smiled, shaking his head. "That's me using my magic to show our footsteps from earlier. I thought you might like having something to follow, something light, because you didn't seem to like the darkness too much earlier."

He chuckled. "Besides, you wanted to see my magic, didn't you?"

Lin nodded, as a Second she knew she could learn whatever magic she wanted if she took the time to. So this interested her, though what she really wanted was to be able to fly like her mother.

Nina followed the footsteps back to the way they went.

"Can you make anything glow?" it seemed he was always making something glow.

"Sure," Earendil grinned - then he paused. "Well," he amended, "not anything. Most things, though. It depends ..."

He shrugged. "Sometimes, it's not good to make things glow. For example, when I'm hiding, or hiding something. But yes, my magic usually makes things glow."

Of course the reason for it was ... unusual, by any standards. Still, he never regretted his gift. Gifts.

"Well of course not when you're hiding," Lin replied back, "But for everything else it's pretty...."

She was still a girl after all and she even had dolls, though she always wanted the doll of her Daddy..... she wondered why there wasn't a doll of her Mommy.

"Do you like pretty things?" Earendil asked eagerly, an idea hatching in his mind.

For all his mature talk and his wide range of knowledge, he was after all still an adolescent boy who liked to show off.

"Would you like to see something else that I can do?"

"Very much," Lin replied back, "I like little pretty things," she blinked watching him curiously wondering what he was thinking, "What sort of thing can you do?"
PostPosted: Fri Aug 03, 2007 9:38 pm

"Watch," he grinned, holding up one finger and winking at her.

He held out one hand, steadying it with his other hand holding his wrist, and closed his eyes. His outstretched hand began glowing blue, and a moment later, a bright blue flame rose slowly from the center of his palm. It went straight up for about five inches, then started looping in circles - slowly at first, then faster and faster until it became solid in the shape of a five-petaled flower.

He opened his eyes and smiled, then plucked it from the air between two fingers. Despite appearing like a live bolt of lightning in the shape of a flower, it was cool to the touch, almost like the cold metal of a blade. He held it out to Lin, kneeling on one knee so that he would be closer to her height.

"My lady," he grinned as if teasing her, holding it out for her to take.

Lin watched wide eyed as he created the flower out of mid air. Her eyes sparkled with wonder at such a magic, even though she had already seen plently of types of magic already.

Carefully she reached out for the flower, wondering if it would disappear if she touched it. If she was any more girly, she might have giggled at his comment.

Earendil was glad to see that she liked the flower. In addition to being pretty, it would also provide her with a second source of light while they were in the catecombs.

"So," he grinned, starting down the stairs once again, "ready to play?"

It was hard to believe she could hold it, harder that it was so cool to the touch. She looked up and nodded so quickly it looked like her head might come off.

"Yea!"
