Kara blinked, tilting her head, "I don't think I've met you before," she replied back softly, "I've only been here once before and that was quite a number of years ago it seems," she told him with a smile.
And she hadn't really met many elves besides Elnara's family, at least until they got to the castle, but not here, at least.. she didn't think so.

The young man - for he was closer to adulthood than boyhood - rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "No, I know I know you ... six years ago, something like that, I passed you on the road ... you had a cat with you, a cat with wings ... and there was a hummingbird that wouldn't leave you alone ..."
He paused. "But you didn't have wings then ..." His expression grew puzzled.
Ulani blinked. "I wasn't aware that you had met ..." she murmured.

Kara smiled brightly realizing exactly who it was, she laughed a bit.
"Yes, now I remember you were heading away from where I was going," she replied, "Yes, I didn't have wings when we met, my people fledge, or sprout wings during their lifetime, I hadn't fledged yet the last time we met."
Kara turned to Ulani and explained.
"Well I was travelling by myself for a bit before rushing here, hard spells make me lose my sight, so I had to be warned about the trees, even though I have never seen one, only heard them."

Ulani blinked. "Oh ... but I thought Serenity was with you then," she mused.
The youth smiled. "I'm glad to see you avoided the tree safely," he commented. "I'm sorry I couldn't walk with you further, but such is life. I hope your visit went well, I never heard anything about it." He chuckled lightly.

Kara chuckled, "She ran into me on the road Ulani, and since she didn't know who I was it isn't a surprise," she didn't tell her that the hummingbird was Serenity.
She smiled wildly at the youth and nodded, "Very much so, I'm not surprised though it wasn't mentioned, I fledged on my way here actually, and..." she laughed a bit, "Unless you saw it for yourself, most people wouldn't believe in winged things like me... or winged cats for that matter."

The boy chuckled again. "You'd be surprised. Serenity's been some pretty creative creatures before."
He paused. "Er ... we haven't been introduced yet, have we?" He chuckled again. "My name is Beregond, son of Fletcher and Amara. I believe you do know them."
He bowed at the waist, then looked to Kara for her to introduce herself.

Kara bowed in return as it was what she was comfortable with, "I'm Kara Winters, it is a pleasure to meet you," she nodded happily, 'Yes I did meet them once."
That had also been a long time ago for them as well, perhaps she should visit, she thought to herself. Kara hoped that they were doing well.

Beregond nodded, smiling, then turned back to Ulani. "Aunt, Mother sent me see if you've any spare flour - Father's heading out to the city tomorrow, but she needs some today, if you can spare any."
Ulani nodded. "I've enough for another few months," she smiled. "You know where it is. Just make sure you close the barrel tightly this time, last time the rain got in and it all rotted." She gave him a hard look.
The youth nodded sheepishly. "I'll be careful this time," he promised. He turned back to Kara. "Forgive me for rushing ... perhaps I might be able to stay for a proper visit another time. It was a pleasure to meet you."
He bowed again and left as quickly as he had come in.

Kara smiled at that a bit as she watched him leave.
"Well that was unexpected," Kara murmured, "And to think I whacked his hand with my staff," she looked a bit embarassed at that.

Kara pouted a bit, "I was blind, and I could feel him waving his hand in front of my face, it was the first thing that came to mind."
And it was a bit disconcerning to her when people did that.

Ulani was still laughing softly. "Poor kid," she murmured, amused by the whole thing. "Though I know for a fact that you would have been the first blind person he'd ever met. He probably hadn't even heard of the concept before."
She laughed again.

"Really?" Kara asked, and then remembered that in fact the usual aliments were pretty much unknown to elves, "I hadn't thought about it, but it make sense when it comes to the body. I had some interesting conversations with Elnara when she first came here doing with physical well being."

"Oh really?" Ulani asked, going back to her embroidering. "Do tell ..."
Her eyes were sparkling mischievously. Personally, she'd had all too much experience with human maladies, but she was always interested in hearing stories.

Kara giggled as she carefully began cutting out the second obi tie, "Well we were talking about the word healthy, which came from the talk about her not being able to eat chocolate because it's posionious to your people. She had never heard of the term healthy before, but then again it makes sense," Kara mused, "If you don't get ill from disease, why talk about health?"
She mused on it with a bit of humour it was an interesting conversation.
"Because I told her, that even for us, as people chocolate in large amounts isn't good for us anyways, even though it doesn't posion us. Too much sugar," Kara muttered drly, "Chocolate really doesn't have... any real nutritional value, but most sweets don't."
