((Team 1))

The room was pitch black. The three seemed to be lighter than air, and that was just fine with them.

Silence...ne'er have you been more sorely missed...or so warmly received...

If it was even possible the shriek Kali let out when Spaz touched her was louder than any other she had ever screamed, and she scrambled away from him. She continued to claw at her face, scratching at spiders, the smoke, trying to get out of this nightmare. It couldn't be real, it had to be fake, oh god it had to be fake! She felt salty tears sting the scratches she gave herself as she desperately tried to get them off. They wouldn't go away...

Wait a second, The Zombie was dead! Look! It was falling to it's knees, it's brain blown to bits and flying over to her! Yes, yes hahaha feel the wrath of Brian and Spaz, be in pain you dumb re-killed loser! Haha, hahaha, hahaha-

Was that a hunk of brain and blood that just slapped her across the face?
...Yes, that was definately a hunk of some (used to be) skull enclosed organ. Eww...

{{Erm...Can the spiders go away yet? Since the dead guy kinda kicked the bucket again, you know, it would be a VERY nice thing to do. If, of course, you're into the whole 'lets get rid of the arachnaphobic's worst fear' kinda nice thing. If not well I'm sure she can scream for a few more hours... stare }}

((Kali))

It wasn't doing her any good. They still infested every pore, every little ******** capillary in her body...

[Nope. You have to be cured. Until tomorrow, that is. Then you'll recover.]

{{Ewww....}}

Scratching, smacking, pulling them away, nothing worked. By now she had killed hundreds, thousands even, of the little ******** and all it got her was guts in her hair and all over her. God have mercy, make them go away! She let out one more fustrated scream of fear and despair, before her eyes rolled back in her head and she fainted, only to be tormented in her dreams, a neverending nightmare...

Spaz straightened from his crouch and turned to face Brian. "She seems fine to me." He said with a shrug. "Now what?" He looked past the little guard station where the zombie had sprung from, wondering where the hall led.

Now things were moving again. Brian turned his head too. Had to scope out the area, ya know?

Huh. Interesting. It was just one huge room...in the middle of it was a big oriental-looking area rug, apparently to try to spruce up the place. No use, anyway. Even the rug was a little gross, with blood stains and ingrained dirt caking almost every inch of its surface.

There were a few wall lights, as well, and the obtuse corners of the trapezoidal room even had plastic potted plants sitting in them. To the left of the room was a door, locked with a right-hand keypad...and to the right, another similar door. Next to it were two elevator doors. Huh. Another shaft, then, eh? Maybe even two, if they were both new...okay. Cool.

((Brian))

Okay. It looked pretty safe. Gross, but safe. They could check out the doors, try the elevators, snoop for clues (^_^)...lots of possibilities there.

But there was one problem. What to do about Kali...

He looked at the syringe one more time. Nervous system...that was like, the brain, right? Hm. He contemplated giving her the injection, just to get the group moving. He wasn't sure though. It could end up doing some serious harm...

Sympathetic nervous system...

"Spaz...what do you think? Give the girl a shot?"

"No boss, it's 'give a dog a bone'." Spaz started doing cartwheels up and down the hall while laughing crazily. "THIS OLD MAN CAME ROLLING HOME!!" Unfortunately, he slipped in a puddle of zombie goo and landed flat on his back.

"Ewww, now I smell like Gramma Larry's Surf and Turf Teriyaki Ham Surprise Combo Bundt Cake Platter... with toejam."

((Brian))

Sympathetic...sympathetic nervous system...

Why would a zombie carry such a thing, anyway? Hm...maybe...maybe he'd seen this affliction before, and was aiming to cure it before it spread to him...?

That did kinda make sense. But he was a zombie, dude! Evil. Baaaad...not good. Why would he carry something to aid his fallen victims?

Then again, why would the world's most sadistic killer, currently on some mission of his own in Subania, grant Spaz, an enemy, a shotgun?

Grrr....oh, what the hell. Give her the shot.

He walked over to Kali, licked his finger, and wiped it across the back of her neck. This stimulated the skin just enough to let the needle take nice and easy...

Heh. He totally just licked her. Score.

p***k. That was all it took. A quick shot of the fluid between two vertebrae made perfect sense. It did, after all, affect the nervous system. No sense going in through the arm. Plus, he'd had enough basic field medic training to know that spinal injections work the fastest for all kinds of brain-related or psychocorrective drugs. He just hoped this was the right one...

Her tense body did seem to loosen...but she wasn't dead or anything. She was definitely still out. Maybe it did work. That would be pretty damn convenient, that's for sure. Poor thing didn't wake up, though. Nah, she was prolly exhausted from all the stress, anyway...best to let her sleep a little while. While she still could, you know? Yeah.

[You're welcome. In case you guys didn't look it up (PS - I'm super glad you knew better than to say your characters knew what it meant), the Sympathetic nervous system is the body's fight or flight system, or bodiy and mental readiness and arousal. Overstimulation leads to anxiety. Drugs that counteract its activity can reduce the effects of Fear, Anxiety, and Berserk.]

OK. The girl was out, zombie was dead, Spaz was reloaded...now what?

"Hey, uh, Spaz?" Brian queried. "Once you're done with the brain version of Slip-n-Slide, what do you propose we do next?"

((I liked my definition better. NERD JUICE!))

Spaz sat up and rubbed his chin. "Uh, we can play Scrabble?" He put in helpfully. Levering himself to his feet, he blinked rapidly as his eyes went out of focus. "Hey Brian, 'member that time we were at the gas station and I was like 'Hey pal, I want some Skittles,' and the cashier was all 'We don't sell Skittles, only Jujubees' and I was like POW! And popped him right in the jaw! Man, that was awesome huh?"

((Team 2))

And so, once again, Brian was left to make a decision...which he would probably end up kicking himself for somewhere down the line...safe was always a good bet. Yeah. Can't go wrong there!

"Uh...why don't I stay with Kali? She seems to be doing a little better; I'll just wait until she recovers fully. Why don't you check out the elevators? See if, by some strange miracle, they happen to work."

He looked at Kali. She didn't look too bad. Much better than before, at least. The serum seemed to be working...

Though he didn't know it, Brian was feeling real concern for this girl's life, instead of wondering if when she woke up, she'd "reward him with a kiss" or anything...dumb like that. He was starting to focus on the mission, and that was a good thing. For now, at least, he was going to try to be Brian the noble, not Brian the vain. For now.

((Didn't you say something about a desk earlier?))

"Okey dokey, smokey!" Spaz said, grinning like a kid. Dashing down the hall, he easily vaulted over the low gate the zombie had been guarding and ran over to the elevators, laughing stupidly again the whole time.

Frowning and sticking out his bottom lip with the effort of concentration, Spaz pushed the "Up" button repeatedly.

Up was good, right?
